There wasn't enough time. Video says it took the police 20 seconds to stop traffic on the bridge then the boat plowed into the bridge support. They had a plan to get the workers but not enough time to execute it.

I assume you are aware that our food supply is under attack. Did you see the warning from South Dakota's governor Kristi Noem? Or the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, warning people about the social credit score. This is part of the Great Reset, they said there will be a famine, they just don't tell us, that it is them who is causing it. Same with the power outages that will hit us this coming this summer. When Klaus Schwab threatens, people need to start listening because he follows through. The worst is still yet to come, it is going to get so bad, it is truly terrifying.

Wrong policy. They need to operate tug boats and build barriers around bridges or build up the basin around the beams so ships run a ground before contact. This never should've happened. A single point of failure when lives are on the line is completely unacceptable

No pollution? I can see an oil slick from the construction vehicles. I cant put into words how badly I feel for those immigrant construction workers and their families. I hope the ship has enough insurance to cover the cost, but I think it will be so many hundreds of millions, they may not. The ship should be impounded so it could be sold to cover some of the shortfall.

The boat operators should be financially and judicially responsible for bringing the bridge down. They were operating a unsafe vessel and should be held accountable. If the vessel is owned by a third party, they should also be held accountable.

Maybe, maybe not... Let's wait and see what the cause was. Could just be an accident... The lights on the ship turning off and on just before the collision could indicate some sort of power failure that prevented the captain to steer the ship. If it was maintenance related and their fault, yes, the should be held accountable. They probably have insurance for these kind of accidents anyway...

This young man was filming a curious scene which he had not expected to become a horrific tragedy. He used explicatives, he didn’t laugh or make fun of anyone The kid was horrified. Meanwhile, older…wiser folks, more educated folks…use cliches to say the same thing, using “god” like they use toilet paper. “We are sending our thoughts and prayers” has become meaningless. You’re right. It’s exactly why Biden’s infrastructure bill was the right thing to do. I have heard of bridges (I believe Minnesota’s included) already using those monies for long needed repair. Sadly, I doubt even the newest, sturdiest of bridges could withstand a cargo ship the size & weight of the Dali ramming into it.

Construction work it's very dangerous and it just doesn't pay enough for the risks involved. I work construction for 50 years. In the last 10 I've lost four friends, as a result of construction related injury.

I think the ships insurance should pay for the bridge and they should have tugs escort the ships through the bridge, especially going down stream. That ship was putting out all that smoke probably trying to back down full throttle. I also believe they should just build a tunnel under the river instead of a new bridge. Like in NYC. Free Julian Assange and the young journalist in Russia. Stop with the double standards.

It appears you don't know how costly infrastructure that size is. No insurance company in the world could pay for it. That's why infrastructure is governments' responsibility all around the world. If you want a private company solving that mess, prepare for corners cut all over (Boeing, anyone?) and tolls to use the bridge from here to eternity. Your taxes will not be higher for the bridge rebuilding. If anything, they'll be used for something useful instead of the insane military budget.

There is absolutely no way the government should pay to replace the Key bridge. Make the shipping company pay. That is why they have insurance. If they don't have insurance sufficient to cover the cost then make them pay by selling off their assets and if that is not enough then somebody needs to go to prison. Then they also need to pay the families that lost loved ones.
