@NightShiftScaleModels The ball tank model was a great example of how a good model can be greatly improved with simple supplies, home made tooling and creative techniques. Something old school like that would be great to see again.

Martin, I'm 61 and have been a steady modeler for many yrs. Since I was 7 yrs old, to be exact . I can honestly say that I've learned so much, and so many techniques from watching your videos. I always enjoy each and every one of them, and I too, also refer back to previous videos for advice . Tracks especially. Recently, I did a DAK panzer III and followed your tutorial to the letter. I was extremely happy with the result. Perhaps you should do an "Old School" style of video as a remedial course or an introduction for new viewers. Once again, you built a great project with plenty of helpful tips and information. MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND! and I look forward to watching you in the coming new year

The germans painted their locomotive underbodies red, it shows up oil seepage in cracks well, for maintenance and avoiding failures in the field. Perhaps the tank underbodies were left red for the same reason.

I have no idea, but wasn't primer usually red in the old days anyway? I could imagine even white would show seepage. I have this memory of a friend spraying his Chevy engine red, back around 1967, telling me the paint would make the engine run cooler.

Awesome work! It always surprises me how you keep coming up with new modeling ideas, that create even more realism and contrast. However, using traditional ideas from years ago as you mentioned, could in fact give a nice twist to this line of super realistic, but also very complex models. They are a lot harder to replicate than for example the Jagdpanther diorama, which I took inspiration from for my project :)

Way to finish the year with a great looking scene. Your figures look good, you’re a better figure painting than you claim. I use your black priming with white zenital lighting and thin glazes until the desired tone is achieved. Skin is a bit more challenging, but the rest is done much faster.
