Lots of Nightwish fans so I had to see what all the hype was about. A symphonic metal band with a female vocalist sounds so intriguing. Nightwish had me virtually speechless... almost put me in a trance. Ghost Love Score is beautifully written with so many layers! Production work is impeccable and the band's visuals are very nice on the eyes. Throw in a pipe organ and you got me sold. Finland's Nightwish is a band that EVERYONE should experience. Amazing talent that took me too long to enjoy.... unbelievable!!!
BIG shout out to the band members of Nightwish, especially Floor Jansen... your vocals are breathtaking and you're one beautiful woman. Standing ovation to all the members of this band!

I saw Nightwish live in 2015 and 2018. I am a 70-year-old senior citizen , a musician, and I’ve been lucky to attend many great concerts over the years. But the Nightwish concerts were right up there among the best they are simply amazing. And yes Floor is an incredible singer....By the way, their basis Marco is also an excellent singer. You might like the Nightwish cover of High Hopes, being that you like Floyd... they did it some years back it’s readily available and I think you’d enjoy it. I did put Nightwish on hiatus (yes, today I am ashamed of this), because I never got into Annette that much (nowadays I am, she absolutely was at the right place at that specific era of that Band). But Nightwish did perform at Fortarock 2018. I was there (only to See Opeth and Arch Enemy, according to my initial plan) with a friend, who was not that familiar with metal, and so I went to the gig with her. Boy, did Nightwish blew me away then! I cried, I sobbed like a little child, but I was in musical heaven. Floor is nothing but perfect for nightwish. She is able to deliver the rough parts, whichTarja couldn't but also the classical parts, Annette lacked of. But, Floor brings so much more life into the Songs, she is not only singing, she is performing perfectly.

Hello. Since this is your first reaction to Nightwish. I will give you a short history speech, "The Ann Waychoff" speech (a short / concentrated history of the band): Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just saw her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). I now know that she is dealing with some health issues and that's really unfortunate. For sure. I’m a huge Floyd fan myself and when I first saw Nightwish did a cover of High Hopes.... I honestly cringed a little. Most Floyd covers get butchered, even when done by dedicated Pink Floyd cover bands. That being said, Nighwish did what most don’t have the balls to do... take a Floyd song and make it their own. It’s a nice interpretation and doesn’t try at all to sound like a Pink Floyd cover.

with High Hopes i am so much attached because that song was written close to my birthplace and speaks about what it speaks for... first time i heard the song from Nightwish i was too hesitated about what i could expect, but honestly, i think i think from 2005 i prefer the Nightwish version than the Pink Floyd! i love that dark feeling it gives you

@@DannymikReacts first! sorry for bad english xD it is from friday to sunday but you can go and camp there the monday before the festival starts to the monday after the festival, it is one time every year but the orginasation team also do a metal cruise event where you are a few days with the bands on a cruise ship. there are many bands at the Wacken Open Air many of the big names in the scene like Nightwish, Sabaton, Dimmu Borgir, etc. but to get a ticket is really hard. the presale for the next year starts right after the end of the current event and is sold out just after a few seconds because the people come from every where on the world, mexicans, americans, chinese, jpanese, etc. it is a crazy atmosphere there with all this diffrent cultures coming together in one place just connected from the music they love. ... and your musical life is never the same. The best thing about Nightwish? They do such a wide range of music, heavy stuff that will knock you off your chair, beautiful stuff that will make you cry... ghost love score is their most reviewed song, but if you are a metalhead then it will be a long way from their best song for you, even with this reaction! So many songs everyone will recommend, but since you mentioned Pink Floyd, they do an absolutely amazing cover of High Hopes... that a lot of Pink Floyd fans who review music have said is better than the original. So the band. Floor Jansen is the singer. A six foot amazonian beast of a singer who can do absolutely everything... she growls in a couple of Nightwish songs! But she has so much power, you just got a little taste of it in that last note, "the Floorgasm" as everyone calls it. The keyboard man is Tuomas Holopainen. He is the composer, the soul behind Nightwish... he does 90% of the writing and believe me, if he had lived 400 years ago we would all know his name alongside Mozart, beethoven and the rest. Some of the songs he puts together are just... youtube reactors just break down and cry at some of them, others just sit there with goosebumps, some stare at the songs with open mouths. The bass player... Marco Heitala. The best beard in metal, one of the best voices... he doesnt sing on this one but believe me, when he gets going... there is a song called Romanticide you should watch, and a cover of The Phantom of the Opera Nightwish do with their first singer, Tarja Turunen that will have you sat there thinking... how can one person play bass like that and sing like that at the same time??? The drummer you see here is Jukka. He brings soo much energy to those drums... he isnt the current drummer as he suffers from insomnia and had to stand down, but he still runs with the band in their management team. The current drummer is Kai from Wintersun (on loan), and he is an absolutely monstrous drummer. If you know Wintersun, they are a really fast metal band... there are parts of songs in The greatest show on earth, Weak Fantasy and Seven Days to the Wolves where he is literally making his whole drum kit shake. Lead Guitarist is Emppu. Nightwish don;t go for huge guitar solo's, but there are a few... Shudder before the beautiful and the High Hopes covers, he has some amazing solo's. You don't see Troy Donockley in this video, he joined same time as Floor did about 6 years ago. He is described as a multi-instrumentalist... flutes, whistles, irish pipes... on a couple of songs he plays this.. i think its called an e-bow guitar that just sounds so haunting! New album is coming, they are in production now. The biggest crime is that Nightwish are practically unknown in the UK and USA because of all the bs around who pays to get on air and what is rammed down our throats (Green Day on loop, anyone?) The Wacken concert i believe had about 72000 people there in Europe, and they fill stadiums in South America and other places. Nightwish have three epics so far. Ghost Love score you just listened to. The poet and the pendulum is a really emotional song where tuomas puts his heart into a song based on the breakup between the band and their first singer. Do some research on the song meaning before you listen to it. The third, is The greatest show on earth... 24 minutes long, covering the universe, the birth of earth and then life, and our existence. Its the greatest song on earth, I think. if you want to talk about layers, composition... you wont get any better than that song. Anywhere. Alright... go get stuck in. They have been going for 2 decades and more, so they have a ton of material. The Nightwish gang are going to descend on you like a pack of friendly vultures, demanding more and more reactions...and you will love every minute of it, i promise!

You fill me in with all this information that will help me on my journey. It's soooooo refreshing. you wont have issues with Greatest Show for Poet... LONG and frequent pauses.. 30 seconds per pause and about 6 or 8 of them.. i seen another reactor use slide edits and they got it up.. slide edits probably are the best bet

Nightwish is one of the best Live band, in whole world. IMO the Best. Concert's are journey's to the genius mind of Tuomas Holopainen ( The keyboard player, who does 95% of music)...Have seen them live since 1996, because they are from Finland too (Except Floor being Dutch and Troy English) Seen them maybe 15-20 times and it just get's better and better...This band don't do anything, with " Only left hand"...Things to do list in life----> Go to Nightwish concert...❤.

Tuomas, the keyboard player is the Mastermind behind it all. He writes the music and lyrics to all the songs (Marco the bassist, helps a little). I've seen Nightwish live with Anette(their previous singer)but honestely it wasn't nowhere near this (though i still enjoyed the concert A LOT!). I don't think i will able to die in peace ,without hearing Ghost Love Score live at least ONCE. And there is a ton of amazing songs to discover when it comes to Nightwish. If you like these big "movie soundtrack" compositions , i think you would love songs like "The Poet and the Pendulum" or "The Greatest Show on Earth",but NW don't really have totally bad songs IMO. Nightwish is not exclusive to one sound as you've heard in one song. :) So for whatever mood you might be feeling, they've probably got you covered. Especially with Floor at the helm, she can drive you to the moon and back with her voice. As many have mentioned, Floor's talent is actually limitless. She's an ice berg and even this song is merely the tip of it. And when you combine her voice with the rest of the bands musicianship? Utter insanity. What's more is that she's so in control of her vocals that she's learned to wield that talent like an additional instrument which allows it to blend seamlessly with the guitar, the bass, the drums, the piano, and all of Troy's instruments. So it sounds fluid and there's no overshadowing whatsoever. Her voice is as powerful as the music backing it. Anyway. Tuomas is on Keyboards behind it. He is the founder of the band(1996). He is also the Chief composer of almost all of their songs. FYI, there was 82,000+ in the audience at that year's annual W'V'acken open air Metal Festival, in Germany. Ghost Love Score was the 13th of 16 songs that Nightwish performed that night. I was lucky enough to be at the Nightwish concert in Seattle.. think it was 2012? When they got Floor in to sing instead of canceling the show there. Even though, she only had a day to rehearse and did mess up a few times. I She was amazing and fit perfectly with the band, we just kept cheering her on. I am soo glad she stayed on with Nightwish!

Wish I Had An Angel, Ever Dream, Storytime, Nemo, Ghost River, all from Wacken 2013 are amazing performances. Floor is performing all these songs and more which were composed for the first 2 original singers for Nightwish, Tarja and Annette. Both of whom were good singers (but different) in their own right. However, Floor takes these songs and adds to them in her own unique way. I have been a musician for many years and played with several performing bands and can honestly say that Nightwish is something musically that I have never experienced before until I recently discovered them on Utube. Tuomas, the Keyboardist and main composer is a musical genius on par with some of the greats from the Classical era. He along with the other members of Nightwish create music with such a range of emotions and textures. You feel that each song is a combination of a theatrical play and a poetry recital. The songs make use of multiple time changes, dramatic mood changes, and extreme dynamics. They also have a fondness for key changes and modulations to add intense energy to climax breathtaking vocal sections. Floor is the first vocalist that has ever brought me to tears simply by the sheer beauty of the timbre and control she has in every aspect of her vocal performance. Even though Floor's favorite style leans more to metal/hard rock, she is classically train and can handle all forms of music from Opera to Metal. I am mesmerized by her. Floor's Beauty, stage presence, and incredibly sensual but subtle movements on stage during musical sections, as well as her ability to draw the audience into the full emotions of the song are stunning! Then just when you least expect it Floor unleashes the beast and takes it to another level. What more can I say? Crank it up and strap yourself in for an emotional ride you will not soon forget!

The first singer was Tarja Turunen, a operatic singer and she left in 2005 (the song i suggested it's about what Tuomas went through when he had to fire her) She is amazing and fans love her even today. After Tarja came Annette Olson, and although she was a part of great albums, the majority of the fans never really liked her. In 2012 she left the band to, also with some controversie, because they were in the middle of the tour in the States. Floor Jansen came after and she is the singer till today. Tuomas says that she is the last, has to be. Floor's amazing and more versatile and she fits in perfection in Nightwish. Great reaction dude. Greetings from Portugal.

Others already said everything, but I'm gonna say again that the way you present your videos is just great. I love it! That's exactly how reaction videos should be made. The pipes resembling a pipe organ were just a stage prop, but they were a great addition to the overall atmosphere. Behind them are the keyboards and synths. Tuomas uses virtual instruments live (mostly strings or string-ish) along with the prerecorded orchestral score usually present in Nishtwish's music. When I first watched this epic Wacken performance several months ago, I had the exact same reaction as you at that 10:47 transition: stopped rocking out, stare, shake head in disbelief, look around a bit, and -- not sure if you were quite there -- tried desperately to hold back the tears. You held it together much better than I did. Content aside, I appreciate how you structure the video. The lyrics are a nice touch for new fans of any band, and I enjoy how the screen switches from a split reaction shot (why we're here) to a full screen focus on the performance during impactful moments. But from what I've seen of long-time dedicated fans, they would much rather you slow down and take the extra time to make a top notch video than churn out some tacky slop to try to keep up with some crazy self-imposed schedule. Quality always over quantity, especially when it comes to Nightwish. People may not say it, but I guarantee others appreciate your efforts as well, so take your time and just do whatever you love. High Hopes is in Tuomas's top five favorite songs. :) so it's no wonder some of the guitar work comes out like that. You can really hear it in 7 days to the Wolves and there's an epic guitar/keyboard solo duel in Shudder Before The Beautiful . Very cool. Very enjoyable reaction. This band is amazing and Floor's vocals are just incredible. This songhas shown you some of what she can do, she can growl (like Tatiana from Jinjer does, but not to Tatiana's freakishly good level) She can go more operatic, more ethereal, more grit and power. She is a vocal beast. As for the rest of the band, they are all stellar quality musicians and all of this music comes from the mind of Tuomas the keyboard player. There are so many excellent songs to suggest, but I will go with The Greatest Show on Earth Live from tampere 2015. It is an experience everyone needs to have. PS I didn;t want to mention it, but it is on all of your videos and you might want to fix it, but the intro you have "music and creativity know no boundaries" but you missed the A in boundaries :)

Saw them over a year ago in San Jose...small venue..they are not very popular in the US. The band was all in jeans and tee shirts no special effects except for house lights and they freakin blew the roof off. Floor the singer was something special. They have become my favorite band pushing Megadeth down to number 2 spot... lol. This song isnt even in my top 20 with this group.

DannymikReacts It’s actually an good advantage for you that Nightwish is not so well known in the United States I saw a video of two other US reactor last year and they said that the concert tickets for NW in the US are very cheap (i think in california they paid only $ 30 or 35 dollar for 2 cards). (in germany we pay much more: a 3 day wacken festival ticket: 220 euro and one regular concert ticket: 50-90 Euro)

As you can see from the Wacken show, they're HUGE in Europe...that crowd at Wacken was 82,000+ people and at points in the concert the entire crowd is singing along...they KNOW the music. Here? They don't always fill small venues, sadly. It makes me sad for our country and their lack of appreciation of such talent.

Loved your reaction. Very genuine! Welcome to the world of Nightwish. Their level of talent is just amazing. If you keep reacting to NW, the viewers will keep coming. Us NW fans love these reactions. If you like music with a lot of depth you need to listen to Nightwish's live performance of The post and the pendulum, from Wembley. The read up a little on the song before listening to it though. It's a real punch in the gut.

Hello and thank you for all the information/suggestions. I appreciate the kind words as well. Lots to consider right now but I will guarantee you that Nightwish will be in my reaction rotation for now on. Romanticide is going to be where I head next (in regard to NW). Many request The Poet and the Pendulum, but it does have strict copyright provisions so I will look into it. Looking for tips so it sticks without getting blocked and then receiving a strike. I heard that it involves the keyboardist and something about how he felt after firing the first singer. Nightwish fans are so awesome that I need to respond to as many comments as possible. Loved this! You were exactly me, when I listened to them first many, many years ago. And still, Nightwish still amaze me every time I have the pleasure to see them live ❤❤❤ Go, dive deeper into their legacy, also with their former vocalists Tarja and Annette and see for yourself. I usually end up in tears at their concerts (seen them approximately 9 times in total, with either of their vocalists) my 'cry to' Songs are: ghost love score, dead boy's Poem and greatest Show on earth. Lots of love from Germany ❤❤🤘🤘

Wonderful reaction! ♥ I love how you talk about many different aspects of everything, their music, their show, their songwriting etc, not many reactors do that, so thank you for appreciating more than just Floor's outstanding vocals. :) I especially like how you put an extra frame for the lyrics in your video. As you do this, I NEED to ask you to react to their Tampere live version of "The Greatest Show On Earth" at some point. Can't wait to see what you'll have to say on those lyrics then. And the show itself of course! ;) My first live experience with them was at their concert in Berlin, Germany, in 2004 and I went to a concert during each of their tours ever since then, never getting disappointed at all! Especially last year in Hamburg was BEYOND AWESOME, Floor nailed everything as usual, the hall was on fire, and it was an incredibly evening. So if you ever get the chance to go see them live in concert, please do! You definitely won't regret it!!

Great reaction. Nightwish is the band I would most like to see live and I hope to attend one in 2020 in the USA. Floor has become my all time favorite singer. She has a beautiful powerful voice with such a dynamic range. This video of Ghost Love Score was the first video I saw of Floor a while back. I experienced goose bumps, chills, hair standing on end and just in awe. In your reaction Danny you mentioned cry and yes I was moved to tears in a good way.

A performance like that is NOT something that I'm familiar with. There were so many different layers to Ghost Love Score and the production work was top notch. Her voice (Floor) simply tugged at my heart strings. Powerful and the amount of control that she has is simply magical. Great song for me to start with. Romanticide is where I'm heading next and it could happen in the next few days. I'm pumped to revisit them. Thanks for watching and adding your comment. I hope you get to see them in 2020 👊👏💥

See, that's what's so great with doing reactions. You get to see all my goofy looking faces as the guitars, drums, and vocals hit me.... even the keyboards and orchestra is so soothing. Loved that reaction! Nightwish is good at winning over people with an open mind. There's lots more where that came from. If you'd like to check out something a little shorter and heavier from them, Romanticide form this same Wacken 2013 show would be a good one to do next.🤘👍💯
