Sometimes, a thing is simply so beautiful, all one can do is weep. These two leave me breathless every time I hear them singing together. It’s almost like their voices were specifically crafted to fit together perfectly. Marco’s voice has this brittle strength to it, full yet somehow fragile like the most delicately carved jade, and Floor’s voice just fills every aural cavity in your head and sets it resonating in sympathy. Together, they’re almost indescribable, two parts of one whole supporting and strengthening each other such that the sound is so much greater than the sum of it’s parts.

Marko is singing in Finnish, Floor in Latin and English. Raskasta Joulua is a Finnish band that does traditional Christmas songs in a metal style. They invite other metal singers to perform with them on their tours. Floor and Marko have joined them several times, including 2022 for Marko. Raskasta Joulua is Finnish for Heavy Christmas.

I knew you were going to love it when I suggested it. The love between these two great artists is amazing, and when he lays his head on her shoulder, tears always roll down my cheeks. He looks so proud of her, like a big brother sharing this masterpiece with his little sister. In Nightwish, there are many songs when they harmonize as perfectly as two voices can, and at times he growls and she growls, but they both have a tenderness in everything they do. Marco actually won Finland's version of "The Masked Singer" so he's not just a guy who sings backup. He is the lead singer in other bands. So very happy you enjoyed it in your comfy robe!

Well, this is one of those times 😁 The love that the band members have for each other is very real, and Marko's little 👍 at the end is priceless. That robe looks luxurious! Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas) is a big Finnish tradition, Floor and Marko have taken part a few times. Marko sings in Finnish, Floor in English and Latin. I love Marko and Floor singing together. I hope they do again someday.

Both Marko and Floor have infinite sideprojects and collaborations with other bands/singers because of their ability to blend in seamlessly. This is why it wasn't fair (for other bands) that Nightwish had both at the same time for about 8 years. He even won Masked Singer with songs you'd never associate with him (videos on youtube of course). Truly vocal legends.

How about Floor singing "O Holy Night" in Finnish to a heavy metal crowd in Finland? It's called Raskasta Joulua which means Heavy Christmas in Finnish (or so I have been told). Finnish metal bands (many of whom are atheists) get together to perform a charity Christmas concert where the earnings go to worthwhile causes. Hi. I've never seen this video with the talking. Marco likes to sing in bare feet so he can feel the music on the floor. I love all the videos of them doing this song. FYI The 1st singer of Nightwish has a whole album of Ave Maria and her name is Tarja Turunen. You should react to Floor singing O Holy Night in Finnish and 6 months pregnant in 2016.

It might be a little confusing at first with all these different things the members of Nightwish have been doing on the side. Nightwish has had "a side project culture" since the beginning. Nightwish is Tuomas' brainchild - he writes all the songs (99%) and all the lyrics, so it's kinda like a balancing act to others that they can really use their creative energy for something. Also when they release the new album, it's always a very intense 1½ year tour around the world, so when it's over they need to go away from each other and take a breather before their next album. Marko and Floor have done lot of really cool things and also Emppu, Tuomas and Troy have had their own side projects. They are all so good that quality is always there and everything is worth to check out. They have always encouraged these side projects and supported each others - and when it's time for Nightwish, they all commit to it 100%.

Here they are with thousands of Lights singing It! So beautiful. Did you know Floor is 6'1", be4 shoes, as you can probably tell, with his head on her shoulder. With her boots she's 6'4-5"! Floor also did it solo for her fans from home during lockdown, for Christmas. She was great, she cranked a lot of great songs out,, as Heart's "Alone", & many more to practice up, & stay in touch with her fans on You Tube. This recommendation is a great one, and I don't think it's on Gabriel's list. It has become one of my top favorites (all of their songs are on my favorite list). My favorite part is Emppu hopping at the beginning of guitar breakdown. It's a kick-ass song, but it's absolutely one of their best!

You'll find a TON of stuff Floor (yes, and Marco, too) does that's awesome outside of Nightwish. You'll find Floor doing a ridiculously good Cover of Phantom of the Opera on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers and a cover of Shallow on the same show that will knock your socks off, and her covers of Frozen and Heart's "Alone" BUT... There is a TON of stuff that you haven't heard yet inside the Nightwish catalog that's going to blow your doors off. Gabriel's list is an awesome guide.

Raskasta Joulua is simply Heavy Christmas in English, one of the biggest concert event's in Finland. Every Christmas they tour the whole country, it's a tradition. I personally love it. Floor is also singing O Holy Night in Finnish, that is worth a go for you too. Take care of yourself 💓

I got into reactions on KZbin via The Hu, a Mongolian heavy metal band. One night at around 4 am, I was finishing up some wood work letting YT choose the next music reaction, I started feeling triumphant because my piece looked even better than imagined, but I welled up because Floor sang The Phantom of the Opera on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers. It took a while and I had to rewind and find the original recording until I realised that this Dutch vocal goddess had made me tear up in joy whilst blasting in the background 👾

I know what you need next:) Floor singing The Phantom Of the Opera with Henk Poort (The original Dutch Phantom) Foor was a fan of Henk whole her life so when she and him take part in the same TV show (Beste Zangers) she wanted to sing with him and he made her promise that if he did , he got to sing in a Nightwish show. (That also happened) BTW you gonne love all Floor's songs she did at this show. Every song is in a different style and often in a different language (4) This show is about artists who sing a song for/of eachother and is no competition. If you do songs from this show ,try getting a version with intro talks so you get to know for who and why this song and what it means for the artist in question. Bring tissues....

As a Finnish holiday staple there are many great versions of this song. Along with Floor & Marko, there is a version with Floor & Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, Seventh Wonder), one with Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) & Marko, several with Tarja (Nightwish's first singer), and one with Johanna Kurkela (Tuomas's wife) & Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni, Northern Kings). These are just a few offthe top of my head because of their Nightwish connections. Marko is a great singer on his own but the thing that stands out about him to me is his duets, he makes already fantastic singers sound better.

That unpronounceable word "Joulua" becomes easier to manage if we recall the Nordic "j" is pronounced like our English "y". It sounds roughly like You-loo-ah. And, given that, you may recognize it is the etymological source of our English word "yule," meaning all things Christmas! :)
