R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 . Ann was a big Nightwish Fan. And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat. And gave them some info about NW. This was her favorite song. And this song belongs to her. I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

It is based on a poem in 52 chapters by Walt Whitman (US 1819-1892) " Song of myself" 1855 There is an extended version of this song with some of the verses of this poem spoken and showen at the end. See below, and some of these you can also see on the ledscreen in the video you just saw. So bucle up, it goes very deep. Hi Daniel. Loved your reaction. Some people can't stop talking about what they've just heard and some people are just speechless. 😄 This track was inspired by Tuomas Holopainen's favourite poet Walt Whitman and his famous poem of the same name. Tuomas explained: "I wanted to pay homage to him and do the lyrics in a way that he would possibly write. It's a real, open, thorough, personal catharsis - especially the spoken-word part." The spoken part is a six-minute recitation of a poem, which is part of album version of this song. It's hard, it’s edgy, but it’s also beautiful. I have one request though - when you do those flickering or flashing edits, you should warn about them in the start of the video or in the description. In Nightwish song, the Floor hits you. (sorry for the riff on the old 'soviet' joke line) Yeah, this one comes from a heavy place, then gets insane with that giant, heavy-footed 2-step gait that the drums are pounding out. Usually, Marko can traverse the stage without getting his footstep locked into the cadence of the song, but at 7:20 (your vid) he is unabashedly stomping to the beat as he heads towards Emppu.

R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 This is your song. If you ever have to explain the Groove in Metal to someone - play this tune. Until the Breakdown hits you with a 10 ton hammer it is all fun and games. But then the slow chugging monster with the machine gun riffing takes over. And for every Metal Head this lights up the day. Awesome….Imho one of the best songs ever. Sometimes the sky is piano black…. Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries and Stonehenge, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !

I always loved Romanticide and Poet and the Pendulum. I am sure you have had tons of people recommend which ones to watch next but those two are insane. And if you are feeling daring go for Greatest Show on Earth. It is an 20 minute epic journey.

0:50 Um, well no, we want to hear you and your thoughts. The song is readily available on its own, in both studio and live versions, for fans and newcomers to enjoy sans interruption. OK, I shall talk for myself :), but I revisit DG's channel to hear the man's thoughts and responses, to witness this personal quest through NIGHTWISH land. So by all means do not be shy to express yourself. A little rewind of the song after stops to ensure continuity is quite adequate for all purposes.

No, victory was a good description. Song Of Myself has always felt like a celebration of a war hard-won, although more an internal war, with mental struggles or pain perhaps, with aching because of not fitting into the world but finally feeling like you've won your place in it.
