What better way to conclude the year as to recapture one of its outstanding highlights by revisiting Finnish Symphonic Metal legends NIGHTWISH taking the likewise legendary Wacken Open Air by storm? After being decorated with triple platinum status in Finland as well as gold status in numerous European countries (Germany, Switzerland, Poland, among others) for their most current studio masterpiece »Imaginaerum« and following the highly successful release of their very own fantasy motion picture »Imaginaerum by Nightwish«, the band is closing in its cycle of the `Imaginaerum World Tour´ with a festival triple -- Wacken Open Air being the first of those final shows. The `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2013-2013 visited in 34 countries, consisted of 104 shows with total audience attendance of over 1,5 million fans.
And what would be a better way to celebrate the grand finale as to capture the entire show at Wacken Open Air -- the world's biggest heavy metal festival -- for a live DVD/Blu-ray? The live show in the front of 85 000 screaming metalheads was directed by Ville Lipiäinen, filmed with seventeen cameras and has a total duration of 85 minutes.
Mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen states:
"The time has come soon to wrap up the magical & memorable one-and-a-half year `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013! We still have three shows left, one of them being at the legendary Wacken Open Air Metal Festival on the 3rd of August. This show will be something extra special, since it will be released later this year on DVD/Blu-ray, together with a massive `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2012-2013 documentary. Our darling flying Dutchwoman, Floor Jansen, has been nothing but incredible during her time in Nightwish on this tour, so this is a perfect opportunity to immortalize the current vibe of the band on film! "
The second disc consists of 120-minute tour documentary 'Please Learn The Setlist in 48 Hours', with no short of drama or overall madness. Also, there is a 16-minute NIGHTWISH Table Hockey Tournament, filmed on tour. On top of this there are two music clips: 'I want my tears back' (Live at Hartwall Arena) and 'Ghost Love Score' (Live in Buenos Aires).

It's unbelievable how after all these years, I still feel so strongly while watching this performance. I can clearly remember the first time I saw this and the feeling is still the same, like a tsunami of emotions 😄 It's almost scary how much you can feel. And I don't know what kind of floodgates will open when it's finally time for another Nightwish show. Nightwish has never been a band for me, it's something more in a way that I can't really understand. Like, Tuomas' music just pours inside my brain and refuels my being 😂 It sounds stupid trying to explain how it feels, but it's unique yet reeaallly weird. I have no idea how he does it. But maybe that's exactly the thing that makes the story of Nightwish so epic and almost magical. Sometimes you just can't be sure if Tuomas really is from this planet or not 😂 I attended the opening seremonies of the new Nightwish museum in Kitee and heard a man saying "this truly is the day of national celebration". It felt a bit unreal to hear that, but I think everyone can agree that Tuomas is prominent among Finnish songmakers. (And it was lovely to see the chest for donations to animal rescue - Jamppa drove to my home to save a seagull just two weeks ago 😊)

I've always loved Nightiwish, which has been one of my favorite bands ever since I was a teenager and Tarja was still on the vocals, and I've been a huge fan of you since around 10 years ago thanks to After Forever and your work with Arjen Lucassen and Ayreon. Never before there was a singer that moved me so much, gave me goosebumps all over my body, brought me to tears so often - that transported me to another plane of existence. So when I've learned that you are going to join Nightwish, I was elated. And hearing you with the band live for the first time has been an experience I'll never forget. You guys are magic together. I can proudly say that Nightiwish is my favorite band now, just as you remain (and will most likely remain forever) my favorite singer.

@@TerryDrumCovers1951 Just saw Kai in LA and he killed it both nights. One of the best drummers I've seen this year along with Danny Carey from Tool. It's always great when one fantastic musician is replaced with another. I truly missed Marko though, but at least Jukka K is a great bass player so instrumentally they don't miss a beat. And Floor did great covering the Marko parts that Troy cannot quite do. I hope Marko rejoins but I'm just happy to finally have seen one of my favorite bands.

That's crazy to me (to try and comprehend) because I've known about them since I was like 11 or 12 in the very early 2000s. Kai intentionally drums I think in a way to not overshadow his predecessor. Kai is a very different kind of drummer as well. There are some songs on their last album where he sounds very similar to Jukka.

Same place I'm at now. Heard them back in the day with "Wish I Had an Angel" and again on their cover of "Over the Hills and Far Away" and wasn't sold. If you think about it, it makes total sense. They are crushing it in a venue with over 80,000 people, who are lit and overjoyed to see this performance, and they know it. Floor has them eating out of her hands, and I can't think of a better experience for the performers. I'd smile too, knowing I was putting on a show that none who attended will ever forget, and those of us who weren't fortunate enough to be there in person will get to experience for ages to come, since it was preserved so faithfully.

I love this song! I only found Nightwish at the start of the lock downs here in Texas. My wife worked for a manufacturing company, which was deemed to be a critical manufacturing company...as they assemble circuit boards that go into medical equipment. So...after I dropped her off at work..I was by myself. I couldn't go play golf, to a move, etc. So...I started listening to music reaction videos. This is how I discovered Nightwish. Two and a half years later, I listen to NW all the time. My health has turned for the worse, but, I stay happy and positive by listening to NW and Floor! Just want you to know that Nightwish has effected my outlook on life so much! I stay positive and happy despite injuries that left me barely able to walk, even with a walker or my cane...Nightwish's music is always there to make me happy!! Thank you Tuomas, Floor, Emppu, Jukka, Kai, Troy, Marko ( I hope you come back! But mainly, I hope you are feeling better and more positive! Just a fan from Texas! Well with Tuomas you can never tell...I obviously hope for the best because I love Nightwish with Floor and I think they are Made for each other but, like I said, with Tuomas you never know. Things seem great, the band seems very happy now, new album is great , their concerts are evry year bigger and fuller of people. Their manager says that they have had their best numbers from 2015 to these days. But Tuomas is a strange guy. I Really love him as a writer and a composer but he must be a difficult person to deal with. He has had nothing but sweet words for Anette for years and all of a sudden he kicked her out. They were doing great, their albums sold a lot of copies and their numbers were already bigger than the Tarja's period but, at some point, it came out that the band could not stand Anette anymore. I really hope that this will not happen with Floor. They are doing great but with Tuomas you can never be sure enough. Let's hope for the best

NIghtwish hit the gold mine with Floor, I sincerely hope she stays with Nightwish until the end. I know the guys had falling out issues with Tarja and Anette, but hopefully this doesn't happen with Floor. Floor was asked about this in an interview and she said she talked it out with the guys that if anything was going wrong they'd discuss it maturely like adults so it won't resort to some sudden "sorry you fucked up we need you to go". There is no denying that Anette did a great job with DPP and Imaginaerum, but there is also no denying in the fact, that Nightwish has always been an escapistic band with dark fantasy themes; the power of a TRUE soprano voice, with lirical singing and high-pitched notes, gives the songs so much more meaning and impact. I am, for one, very happy to see Floor join their ranks - there is no one who can predict what amazingness Tuomas will be able to bring to the table with her powerful and yet dynamic voice. She is just purely amazing in how she controls her voice, and it does show, that she has had years of practise.

This is one of the best live performances of any Metal song ever IMO. Great, great, GREAT! I love how Floor brings back the metal presence to Nightwish. She can easily perform Tarja songs and with Anette songs she brings a mixture of Anette and Tarja into one person. You can clearly hear 'Anette' in the choruses and 'Tarja' at 03:40 onwards. I can't be more exited. Margo Belle-Fleur Personally, I have no problem with this. On the other hand, I hardly believe any bands have ever done such thing. You don't expect remastering, nor remixing, but a quite new record of the older songs by the new singer. I can't imagine a Dark Passion Play with Floor, not because I don't like her voice, but because that's good the way as it is. What I'm curious about, is a whole new album with Floor. I like listen to the older songs as they are without thinking about any changes. Basically, the songs recorded in the first place remain the only true ones for me. One or two songs may be recorded once again, just like Planet Hell was 2 years ago.

Not to me. I'm a Floor fan, but also fan of the old singers. Nightwish is more experienced, but their old singers were actually really good. Tarja's Once is still the best selling album. Anette's both albums sold more than Floor's album has. Anette has the most selling single. Two of the most watched KZbin NW songs are Anette's. Both Anette and Floor are rock singers, and I don't see anything what Floor sings that Anette couldn't have. But on stage Floor is a good actress! They have upped the live performances a lot: the big shows are now choreographically planned, unlike earlier, making live shows more a ... show.

Tarja specialized to classical 1995 in School of Art and Music, then 1996 - 2000 in Sibelius Academy, then 2001 - 2003 in Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, that's 9 years of classical studies. And since that she has been a private pupil of at least Agrentinian opera singer Marta Blanco and Mitsuko Shirai, who was also Tarja's professor in Karlsruhe.

Yeah, she didn't have classical training, but she did study in music conservatory in Copenhagen Denmark, and has had private singing lessons. And she performed with her mom's music band since kid.
