Thank you so much ☺ for starting from the beginning, you are going to notice the early Nightwish with Tarja is so magical, mystical, and just so beautifully composed. Tuomas wrote the perfect songs for Tarja and her voice. Love your reaction, always thumbs up 👍💯🦋

Fan fact: People unofficially call the Nightwish community the Nightwish Army. And the community around Tarja is officially called Winter Storm. And these two fandoms partially overlap. You might come across those names ;-)

@@PetraPola I was introduced to the Nightwish army very quickly when I met Gabriel, which you’ll see he commented on one of the videos that I did with Tarja 🙂 i’ll have to join her army as well 🎶🤘🏻❤️ my family, music and you guys are what keeps me going even though I work from home I didn’t even work today because I had a really bad flare 🫠

Tapio Wilska and Tuomas were both in a band called Nattvindens Gråt in the 90s before Nightwish. They did gigs and even went on a European tour, where Tapio helped them get their their first record deal. He was involved in a few songs as a singer and he was also their technician on the first tours. Tapio has been a singer in many different metal bands.

Thanks a lot for the reaction. I was hoping you might like some of Nightwish's early work. Oceanborn (1998) is still favorite album for many fans. I love this album too. It was a very progressive album for Tuomas. It also had a more expensive production and Tuomas experimented more here. The male voice is not Marko, but Tapio Wilska. Marko did not appear until the album Century Child (their fourth album) in 2002. He joined the band in 2001. The first album Angels Fall First was released in 1997 and was originally intended as a demo album. There, Tuomas sang the male part in all the songs. On Oceanborn it was Tapio Wilska. I also love the contrast between the angelic Tarja's voice and the demonic Tapio. There is a great live performance with Tapio and Tarja on the From Wishes to Eternity concert, from 2000 for the song Pharaoh Sails to Orion. This song is also from the Oceanborn album. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKHOeWRubNlog80 This is the newer remastered version. Nightwish Arena does a great job remastering songs from Nightwish, Tarja etc. And you found the right studio version. I did send you the link with the version with lyrics, because I know how difficult it is sometimes to understand Tarja when she sings. But this is a good studio version. Thank you once again. Even for me Nightwish is still new and this album too. I got to them very recently only through Tarja's solo music, which I still prefer, also because she is so creative and it is her thoughts and feelings in the lyrics. Here she is "just" an interpreter of Tuomas' wishes and thoughts. And he has dark and intense wishes and thoughts. Sometimes it gives me a little chills, but it's pleasant. I look forward to discovering their music with you and I look forward to you discovering Tarja's solo work.

From Oceanborn album I was introduced to Nightwish. Probably most difficult album to create according to band members and in my opinion one of best. This is second album. Recording it was literally through hysterics, hard work and tears. That's probably why it turned out so great. As many people wrote above, male vocal on album is Tapio Wilska, Tuomas' friend. Tapio played not least role in creation of Nightwish. He persuaded Tuomas to show demo tape with three songs to manager of record label. After listening to this demo, Tuomas was told that Nightwish could record first studio album.

I thought his voice sounded really deep. I’m like I don’t know if that’s Marco or not but I’m always used to him being the other lead male vocalist, but I didn’t think of the timeline. 🤘🏻🎶❤️

My favorite version. Thanks. Tarja enchanted many of us then and she still does. And the frenetic tempo of many of Nightwish's early songs can kick me even today. Great album full of gems.

Marko joined the band in 2001, so they made one more album (Wishmaster) without Marko. I kind of loved Tarja's voice the most on this album. It was darker and sounded more operatic and powerful than on other albums. No wonder I fell in love with them instantly when I heard this album. Good luck for your doctor's appointment. Hopefully you start feel better soon.

Great reaction to an old classic Nightwish song, from the first ERA. The male is NOT Marko, as he didn't join until 2001, but Tapio Wilska (Sethian, Finntroll and Obscene Eulogy). This early Nightwish was very different from what it became later for example with Century Child (2002) and Once (2004) or what it is now. Very different, but you can still hear clearly that it is Nigtwish. Tarja's voice also sounds quite different, she sounds more classical. Oceanborn has never really been the Nightwish album for me, but I can't deny the talent here. Though, there are many elements I liked in this album. Also, I really like the songs Swanheart and Passion and the Opera from Oceanborn.... and Sleeping Sun is a never dying classic (but I prefer the live versions roughly few decades later after this album). there is a live video: Nightwish (& Tarja Turunen) - Devil and Deep Dark Ocean - Live 1999, the sound is not very good. However there is also old video of other song: NIGHTWISH - Gethsemane (LIVE 1999) [HD], and like to watch it now and then. With them so young. No Marko yet, but I have seen video with sim young.

@@PetraPola I also think that at that time Tuomas didn't need a male vocalist. For a few songs with male parts, Tuomas' friends, Tapio or Tony Kakko, were quite suitable. They had to turn to Marko because of Sami's dismissal. It so happened that Marko agreed to join Nightwish and Tuomas got not only a great bassist but also a great vocalist. You could say Tuomas won jackpot.

Marko was not in Nightwish until 2003. If you want to hear this song full out check out the live performance from 2018. The arrangement is so much better. Marko and Floor destroy this one.

That isn't Marko. It is the male singer who filled in once in a while before Marko came on board. His name is Tapio Wilska. This is an interesting version, but I do like any version with Marko better.

Tapio didn't replace anyone. He was invited by Tuomas to record two songs for this album. In total, Tapio's growl can be heard in three Nightwish songs.

Tapio was part of the Nightwish furniture in the early days. One of their trusted friends. I think he was even part of their crew because in their book he was mentioned a lot when they talked about their first tours.
