Damn it Nihlus, why did you have to die so early? You're my favorite character in the whole trilogy!

Agreed. Nihlus would have made the trilogy better. My comment just disappeared so I reposted.

I love how Nihlus's jawblades twitch at 6:32. A little detail goes a long way in making turians feel real.

It was a mandible twitch; Turians aren't that hard to read if you really watch their mandibles when they listen, think, observe, and talk. In that moment, Nihlus was a cool, calm, level-headed Turian soldier, who had seen almost everything, quietly saying 'WTF is that?!!'

When seeing Nihlus the first time, I was like "Fuck being human, I wanna be that!!" and then I was bummed when you couldn't. And then I met Garrus and we became best bros. So I guess it all evens out.

Same for me. It's really a shame about Nihilus, he is one of my favorite characters despite dying early in the game. Then again, I got to meet Garrus Vakarian and he instantly became one of my favorites alongside Wrex, I wonder if Garrus knew about Nihilus though; he never mentioned him in the game every time I talked to him.

Nihlus Kryik was a wasted Spectre Turian. He seems to have a big history and he was a prodigious in being Spectre that is terrifying as to what Samara said in ME2 if you conversate with her often after completing main missions in ME2. He did his job well honestly. Also he must have some friendship with Saren as to when he first encounter Saren on Eden Prime he was shock to see him and knew him before he was betrayed. Even for a minor character he's quite popular given some decent fanart along the years of ME being out if you go to art sites Additionally, he seems to be wearing the Collasus Armor and unobtainable Black M8 Avenger Trivia : Note : Oddly enough when you first met him on the Normandy his complexion seems to be Red with his White Turian Tattoos. However, for some odd reason when he encounters Saren on Eden Prime he's complexion is Black with his White Turain Tattoos Note : 2 Same actor who plays Nihlus also plays the Turian Councilor Sparatus.

So....I didn't care much for Mass Effect's gameplay. 2 and 3 were great in my opinion. I just didn't like 1. I didn't hate it ether, except for those fucking Mako segments. But honestly, I'd make the game longer, specifically the start of it. I think they could have made Nihlus's death more impactful if they just gave you enough time to like him as a character. To me, there was barely any time to really know him. Also, when you first go into Mass Effect, you don't know what Spectres are, other than it sounds cool. You're given the idea that Spectres are basically badasses. I fail to see that in Nihlus. Saren, I can kinda see. Shepard, well duh, you play as him/her the entire series, except Andromeda. I think what should have happened is before this mission on Eden Prime, have Shepard go on missions with Nihlus so he can actually observe Shepard's performance and have it lead up to Eden Prime where he would decide to trust Shepard to perform well unsupervised, only for Nihlus to get killed by Saren. And another issue, if Nihlus is supposed to observe Shepard, why did they go separately? That defeats the purpose of the whole thing. So yeah, I really couldn't get hooked on Mass Effect 1. It didn't leave a good first impression for me, unlike 2 and 3. And I started on 2. So it's kinda my fault in a way that I have issues with Mass Effect 1's gameplay, but at the same time, I doubt my opinion would be much different. But I am glad I played it and I look forward to a possible remaster of the trilogy.

I thought the same thing. They should allow you to go on some missions with Nihlus in the beginning of the game so you can know him more as a character.
@themoonlitquill11 ай бұрын
I agree with you with regards to his screen time. He has quite a substantial backstory! They put a lot of thought into developing a one-hit-wonder. They really passed up a great opportunity by taking out Nihlus as quickly as they did. Even worse, is he never truly got any justice from the Council. They literally blew off an eye witness to his murder because the guy was human and traumatized. Sure, we get that part, but uh...Spectres are covert agents. How would that 'traumatized dock worker' have known ANYTHING about Saren, especially his name, unless he was there, saw the murder, and relayed what he saw to Shepard? That one statement by Valern lost any shred of respect I may have had in that council. They proved to be willful idiots on a consistent basis. They don't deserve Spectres, least of all like Nihlus or Shepard!

Necro incoming. Here's what I was envisioning. 3 missions with Nihilus to act as a tutorial with the 3rd one as part of an official Spectre evaluation (with a time skip shenanigans) By then we would have already met Liara as a main companion and Garrus and had him join us as a temporary companion for a C Sec mission as a minigame tutorial. After Mission 4 which would be Nihilus' evaluation mission, we pull the second half of Eden Prime with Saren, having him built up as a legend (With Garrus' intro mission providing some backstory and a lore dump) have the twist there and then. At that point, Garrus' questline would play out as per usual and have him replace Nihilus (assuming Nihilus would be the same class as him) allowing us to collect Tali and Wrex in regular fashion. For this to work, Liara's intro mission would be the second mission we pick up, and the third mission being a random geth attack mission on lets say, Horizon, acting as our first planet out in the Terminus systems. That would be the big reveal. By this point, Anderson would somehow allow Shepard to take the Normandy and he would have free-ish reign after the second mission for sidequests. Mission 4 would be when Garrus joins up proper, which would line up just fine because Nihilus would also have been an infiltrator as well, but without Nihilus' class talent "Turian spectre" (a juiced Infiltrator talent that would swapout tech damage with cooldown reduction) which would allow you to have a few more points to spec into Garrus. After this, the game carries on as usual. I do understand this idea may cheapen Nihilus' death by Garrus joining up to basically replace him as a squadmate, but if there was an established former C-Sec connection then it would strengthen the connection between the two. That would have been so cool if we had that extra mission or two with him.
