Niilo is such a nice guy .. I've had the chance to meet them a couple of times and the whole band is just so down to earth. I saw them in Louisville, KY back in 2012 .. drove over 6 hours just to see them. I mentioned that to Niilo and he couldn't have been more gracious. One of my favorite bands of all time and I'm glad they're getting the attention they deserve. I'll make another 6 hour trek to see them again in March ;)

Such a great interview! It's amazing to hear Niilo's thoughts on the album. "Pale Morning Star" is my fave on the album. I'm still getting to know it as well as I know some of the others, but it's for sure the equal of Winter's Gate and Shadows of the Dying Sun, and those are incredible albums. I went through the entire discography, and right from In the Halls of Awaiting onward, it's kick ass stuff. Some of the elements of the sound mature through the years, but there's no weak spots to be found. I was fortunate enough to see Insomnium in concert last year, and they were absolutely incredible. I'll get to see them ON MY BIRTHDAY in 2020!

I'm still stuck in time.. if I was about to live on an island, i would bring the album Above the weeping world. This. Fucking. Album. A masterpiece, their best album imo, so much feels and melancholy. You must listen to it all at once, no skip, no distraction. In the groves of death..

Don t increase the price, increase the no of seats😎 What is the intro song? Awesome thing to know about the fact that he writes stories and than makes the lyrics I listened to this band a few years ago and I found it too harsh. Now this is exactly what I like about it . Maybe my tastes changed or I wasn't ready for their greatness His voice is an amazing instrument that heals . The darkness within the voice is like a soul patch Btw, Niilo has a unique birthday master path 44, for the numerology enthusiasts

It would not surprise me if the guys from Insomnium would enjoy playing some Dark Souls because honestly, their music feels very much like the mood in Dark Souls. A character at the end of the world in Dark Souls 3 says: "I wish to paint a picture. Of a cold, dark, and very gentle place. One day, it will make someone a goodly home." That is exactly how I feel about Insomniums music. It can feel like a cold and dark place but in the end, it will feel gentle and welcoming as if you were right at home. My favorite song of Heart like a Grave would also have to be Pale Morning Star. It just speaks to me one a different level because it reminds me of my love who committed suicide. I was feeling horrible and at one point she came into my world and made me step from the night into the sun but now she walked into the unseen land as she left before me. I am still dealing with the loss. It is albums like Heart Like A Grave from Insomnium and Transcience from Shylmagoghnar that I take solace in. They help me get through the day.

I drove 400 miles to see these gentlemen in 2015 with Dark Tranquillity in Winnipeg on my own and back the same night to see them again in Saskatoon. Lucky for me they were (minus Jani) standing by the merch line after their performance and I was able to thank them individually for their great music. Very humble guys and I’m sure they don’t make this music for the money but I feel they deserve so much more!

No don't increase the prices, make the shows more easily available. Some people are less fortunate and can't afford opportunities such as this as easily. I'd love to see Insomnium live but I'm not going fly to New York or Canada to see them. I was very lucky that a big band like Five Finger Death Punch came to Montana and I got to meet them.
@anatudor5 жыл бұрын
As it's the case with a lot of other bands that do the formal meet & greets, you can still meet them for free if you can't afford to buy those. Just be there and be willing to wait for a while before or after the shows. I don't make a lot of money, but I'd definitely go for a paid M&G if I can afford it, especially in the case of bands like Insomnium who don't charge beyond what's doable for me and I have already met for free. Kreator are in the same situation. They gave me so much of their time for free and were never anything but lovely before they first did a tour that sold VIP packages, I would have felt really bad if I didn't pay for once. Of course the price is extremely important... everyone says the Alice Cooper VIP packages are amazing and you really get a lot for your money, but one of those is three months worth of income for me and knowing I've already met him for free twice and that kind of money can make the difference between life and death for me... I just couldn't bring myself to splurge.
