Two X in a casting cost means that you can only pay X in multiples of two...meaning that you'd get no additional effects for Famine if you pay 2 mana, and you *can't* pay 3 mana...you have to pay 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. Someone never cast Meteor Shower back in the day.

The "Would lose unspent mana" in Master of Worms implies that you gain first strike instead of losing the mana. Which means you keep the mana over the turns. Like with Upwelling.

There's no "instead" so you still lose the mana, your creature just gets first strike Edit: there's no "when", "whenever" or "at" so it's not a triggered ability. You're right that it's a replacement effect but I'm not sure you lose the mana

It’s not fair to compare turdling to elvish piper. It’s colorless and has artifact synergy. It costs one less to cast and has 1/1 more. And it doesn’t cost one green to activate.

I think Nikachu is right about AI thinking you need multiple games to actually win. Whats the first simple thing AI can be trained on? Pong. AI plays hours and hours of pong, they love pong, then they become smarter and find Tennis. Now they love Tennis. And in Tennis, for mens, you have to win a minimum of 18 games to win the match.

Powerful Ascension - One of the earliest cards I ever submitted, getting the image AI to make the liquid yellow to match the card text was a challenge. It's been sitting in the bucket waiting to be posted to the twitter for a looong time. Mercolarian Maro - "Is that Mark Rosewater?" Glad that the AI's impression of the man is actually recognizable. I knew when "Maro" was in it's name that the image had to include something close to his likeness. I went through about 7 sets of art generation trying to find something that wouldn't be offensive, though. Swarm Swamp - Also glad that someone got the joke with the sad trombone noise and pointed it out to you. Yeah, it's meant to be a trombone in the art, not a trumpet, but the AI doesn't understand the difference.

Boots Hope is really strong. Especially since on the off chance it doesn't kill the opponent outright, you can still just sacrifice the near-useless green Saproling it made the previous turn.

To the Cliffing Blight. The way this works is when the effect goes on the stack, you target something. Then, when the effect resolves, you are allowed to chose one of the Permanents targeted by this Ability.

Famine needs 2 mana per X value. Both parts use the same X value. Several spells use this format, IDK where the confusion is coming in. Also, Blood on the Snow and Blizzard Brawl exist, snow mana is not required to be a snow spell.

33:42 I'm jamming Glissa into my Mishra, Artificer Prodigy deck! XD It also looks like Chromium, the Mutable is the only commander that can be casted if anyone has Glissa's emblem. Also, Prowling Seropard, Allosaurus Shepard, Vexing Shusher, Surrak Dragonclaw, and Sphinx of the Final Word are cards that can be played to enable other cards to be played after Glissa's ultimate!

This may have been one of the most overpowered sessions of AI cards yet. From a land that basically adds possibly 40 mana in one go, to an Avatar that could copy that absurd land, to drawing a card and winning the game. Also since I am newish to Magic but binge these AI cards, every time I see the X cost, I remember X gets around that Chalice. And about that Time of Ruthless, the Eldrazi are just salivating at the sight of it. Wrath Of God, Armageddon, then when everyone's stuff is in the grave, you Time of Ruthless and play some disgusting Eldrazi that has almost free reign on the field.

Its Yending Armours: because what we need is a Land that gives creature stats to Planeswalkers, using a Planeswalker ability that costs Loyalty it doesn't have and doesn't produce, which has no tap ability and doesn't generate Mana.

For Kudsu Froil-Rider (20:41): You could just cast Flash in your opponent's end step on turn 1, put this creature in and sacrifice it immediately to get the 5 tokens. Next turn use all of them to put your entire hand onto the battlefield.

I think the thing that makes Ashen broken for me isn't necessarily the ability + stats vs cost (although probably could cost 4 and be fine) its the fact that it's colorless. I could (and should) slot that bad boy into any deck. Its like the wandering throne from Caverns.

The way I read famine, the two X are completely separate. You pay a red and black to give everything you control trample and vigilance, you pay X1 to destroy X1 artifacts or creatures of your choosing, and you pay X2 to return *UP TO* X2 creatures costing 3 or less into your hand from the discard.

If they were separate it would be an X and a Y (there's exactly 1 magic cards that has an Y I think). You need to pay X twice and you have the same X for both effects

I think a cool idea for the knight of slaughter and his wide counters would have been if, instead of being able to remove wide counters to exile things, he could block an extra creature for each wide counter on him. It would have fit more with the flavor of a counter being called a wide counter and he's already a 2/6. Maybe change the name to something more fitting, either give him indestructible and or death touch or a way to gain one or both of those say maybe if he has enough wide counters and adjust his mana cost accordingly, then you have yourself a really neat card!

Oldwall Tree: I think statoc abilities on non-permanent cards function while that card is on the stack. So You play Oldwall Tree, then before it resolves to cast whatever else you've got, those cards get cascade, then once Oldwall Tree resolves the effect is gone.

Time of Ruthless can be brought out and start producing immediately via Crop Rotation. Next turn, drop a Fetch, and Ruthless is tapping for 2...then you have 3 available for Harrow, setting Ruthless to tapping for 3 on the following turn...or you can use a "free" spell such as Frantic Search to keep going. Throw in Squandered Resources and Natural Balance...jeez. I don't know of too many cards that would be better for Sultai Ramp or Sultai Artifact decks than this card.

Snow is just a supertype with no requirements, there are plenty of snow cards that have nothing to do with snow mana. Ohran frostfang came in the grand larceny OTJ precon, it's a snow permenant and it has no snow mana affiliation

6/6 for 4 with a purely positive effect is ban-worthy. There are some cards that are 6/6 for 4 but all of them have downsides and some of them have downsides and no upsides, which suggests even a 6/6 for 4 beatstick with no effect would be at just about the limit of what would break the game.

It affects Undying and Persist creatures. They don't return to the battlefield tapped. The only creatures it doesn't affect are those benefitting from a Feign Death or a similar spell.

There's a lot of 3/2 for 3 with First Strike cards out there and they often come with other nice abilities. Master of Worms doesn't get first strike for free and is a 3/2 for 4. I don't think it would see play.

Ashen Korga Turdling is too good at 3 colorless. If they remade Elvish Piper as is, but with a 2/4 statblock, that's be fine. 3 colorless, with no activation cost beyond tapping is too good. You cna have it pumping out creatures on turn 2 in Commander...Turn 1 Sol Ring into Lightning Greaves. Turn 2 you cast this and equip it with said Lightning Greaves, cheat out Blightsteel and move Lightning Greaves to Blightsteel. That's a best-case scenario, admittedly, but still. If it only costs 3 to cast, its ability needs to cost at least 2 to activate (on top of tapping it).

Hear me out… ult the Glissa (use Doubling Season?) -> trigger the emblem -> tutor more Glissas (they die to legend rule) -> use Epitaph Golem (already on the battlefield, of course) to put them back in the library -> infinite mana, land destruction, and/or damage triggers!!! (…assuming you can also cast/draw more spells, of course. Gravecrawler? Oathsworn Vampire? Tenacious Underdog? Vilis? Whatevs, no biggie!) Watch out Legacy, it’s time to cook 😎👨‍🍳
