There's something about Quick Commerce and the small token size that quite doesn't sit right. Either the brands have to raise the retailer margins significantly so that QCs have room or that the deliveries become ultra efficient and cheap. Ideally, both will be needed.

Generic Answers - "Growing Faster". India market is different than US. Grocery delivery is something that will take a huge time for success. Most people still like to go to kirana store and buy stuff.. Getting funding does not necessarily will give you a guarantee that it will succeed. Economics do not make sense, for example someone even bought 500 inr worth groceries you will get merely 10 to 30 inr profit or maybe no profit. In India there is MRP concept, IN USA there is no MRP written on Packages so pricing can be set dynamically giving them an edge. If they launch overseas then I could see it succeed, and overseas people are ready to pay more for a product

From Developer point of view 1. Should add Dark Mode .....Please 2. Add Short widgets at Main page & Cart Page rather than adding Plain Images 3. Simple SVG Animations would help a lott for good UI 4. Locations are kind off wrong ....i felt 5. Monthly Products should be introduced for Users - like a pouch of products orders by many households based on area they live... on monthly basis 6. Timming Orders can be good Like send orders at : date and time -pre book kind off -- to reduce the working load - example send so and so orders at night - 9pm - then would lead to less charges ...

Zepto is undoubtedly a non profit making entity. It may venture into something else later to be profitable. However this current structure of superfast delivery isn't going to make good profit.

The number of bikes in front of Zepto stores which is right opposite my house have reduced by a factor of 5 atleast. The riders were a nuisance but thank god that’s reduced after they increased prices of vegetables. I feel a lot of startup founders misrepresent facts. See what happened to Pharmeasy.

"A good high quality service at a budget cost" is achievable only when you treat your employees like shit and that's what food aggregators, new logistics start ups etc are doing, they only focus on customer satisfaction,investors and stake holders satisfaction, India is abundant in population and getting cheap labour is not difficult and these start ups foundations are based on this. Amazon was the first to build this model, in fact Amazon was built keeping customer satisfaction on top of the chart which is good, but treat your low level employees well.

Will the kirana guy come to your house when you are showering for office and keep the package on your door ? Will the kirana guy deliver the food at night to woman who can't go outside due to restrictions in pg? Will the kirana guy do a 15 minute delivery in less than the delivery fee of zepto also having the convenience of customer support on chat whenever there is any dispute? That's the quick commerce play. Don't you wish whenever you browse Amazon that it could just come in a minute to your home ? Zepto does that with Grocery, expanding to more categories. That's the value that zepto offers and thats why they are growing , cuz people have busy lives and some are lazy.

Sorry to say but Zepto promotors themselves don't know, what's there business model, it's a delivery in 15 minutes, when consumer need things faster quicker. Flipkart is not competition exactly, if they can give better price with faster delivery business model and still profitable, then sale can increase.

It's quite revealing to hear that Dmart is now being considered a 'Pain or a Fight.' I believe this perception has more to do with the times we are living in rather than what has been said in this discussion. Dmart has always been known as a Convenience store. But then, Are people demanding more in terms of service, or is this just the next level of convenience from a well-capitalized operator with deep foreign investment? Possibly, If Dmart were to launch a 10-minute delivery service, it's likely it will just roll over these Zeptos and Blinkits...

Any new age start ups create a whole lot of knock on effects positively for the start up eco system. But only those start ups which solve an actual problem sustain themselves in the market and get profitable. I’m sorry to say this., But quick commerce isn’t an actual problem that neeeds solved and hence I don’t see Zepto scaling up with their current business model. They will either pivot or perish.

If they do really well. Who will they be replacing? Is it traditional Kirana stores or modern retail stores like D-Mart getting replaced? They say D-Mart kinds but most customers of D Mart enjoy it as their re-creational day finding sweet deals. So Kirana stores lose eventually? Is that good or bad? May be some Kirana store entrepreneurs would go out of business but many new riders start making INR15-25k a month without initial investments. @Nikhil Kamath - it would be really interesting to hear their take on these aspects.
