Nikita Zadorov delivered a forceful hit to the already vulnerable Ondrej Kase, who has a history of head injuries and appeared to be wobbly as he got up. Immediately following the hit, Kase headed to the locker room.

Big beautiful hard CLEAN check. The NHL needs more of this

Sure, but without a head contact. Zadorov's arms were down and his feet on the ice so it's technically a very good, clean hit. And Kase didn't embrace for the hit well enough, yet again, even though the situation came up quite fast. Kase needs to learn to take a hit and Zadorov needs to watch where he hits. All in all, more like an accident and carelessness from both guys part.

@@Tauno211 It definitely wasn’t a targeted head shot, it was his chest and his rocked forwards. Did he get some of his head? Yes. Wasn’t intentional or the principal point of contact? No.

@@Tauno211 Zadorov doesn’t need to do anything different. He is the bigger man. I am afraid they will turn this into the NFL with the head contact nonsense. Just like the QB should be throwing medicine balls to his receivers, a player shouldn’t be giving sucker passes to his teammates either.

@@justwondering1967 This one I beg to differ. He definitely should care as a bigger guy if he wants to play without a conscience of hitting guys in the head or not. When you're bigger than most others, you need to adapt and make sure you're not dangerous to play with. Zadorov seems to not care about that, because this is not the first time he plays too dangerously. Lower your stance even more when hitting smaller guys so you at least miss the head. That's all there is. This was otherwise a good, clean hit as I said before, but reckless nonetheless.

And what makes you so sure Reilly could tell the hit was clean right there and then? People who fuss about this forget one thing: Hockey is FAST. So much so that some may not see the full hit and know it was clean. All they need is the end result and think, "Hey! You did that? YOU DIE!!" two disappointments in this game 1. Kase should have received 2 minutes high sticking on the Z hit (look at his stick on the replay) 2. Tkachuk did not flip the puck at Muzzin after a play was whistled dead
@leonardmccannon3136

Stop the video frame at 42 seconds and you will see Zardorov should making direct contact with Kase’s head. Immediately after, kase’s helmet flies off his head. The height difference is quite apparent, and is a a big part of why it happened. Still, if the refs see what the replay shows, Zardorov gets ejected from the game. It would not shock me to find out the leafs send a tape to the league, if Kase is as concussed as he appeared to be. Players are responsible for head contact on hits even when it could be unintentional.
