I played other team sports and I always appreciated when the refs applied the rules the same way for everyone... it cannot be that 700k a year grinders can be checked left right and center and 11 million a year superstars are only to be watched from 30 feet distance... I mean I kinda get what you are saying that otherwise talented players are getting targeted, but hockey is a full contact sport and everyone who plays it knows that and is aware of the risks involved... this hit was clean in my eyes (Z did not jump up, didn't charge S into the boards, hit him from the front and it appears to me that first contact was made on the upper body)... Theodore P Forwards know there’s a hit coming there. Anyone who’s played hockey for 20+ years knows you need to pick your head up as soon as you touch the puck, and if you don’t- it’s your own fault. I’d give you your point if the hit was before the puck got there or even right as he touched it, but he had time to look and chose to look to the middle for a pass.

He didn't cower. He had two guys tackle him to the ice. Once down with punches being thrown, what is he supposed to do? Open himself up to get pummeled? Zadorov is not one to ever back down from a fight, so if either of those players had called him out properly, he would have dropped the gloves.

With refs giving so many penalties for good clean hits, it's almost like the NHL has just stopped accepting good, solid hits. Also, if the NHL is gonna do something, penalize the players that jump the player after a solid hit.
