Adding that o-ring on top of the jet immediately fixed my surging problem. It was so bad I had to park the mower till fixed. Replacing the o-ring on the jet itself did not fix it. You could see where the metal tube and the jet mating surfaces polished each other from the jet moving in the cylinder. This problem has periodically shown up and disappeared without explanation. Thanks so much for an absolute solution to the problem!

Many thanks. Have a mower with a Intek 7-160 V-twin suddenly started surging. New plugs, new fuel filter, fresh fuel still surging. Pulled out the carb took off the float chamber and as I lifted up the white plastic cover the main Jet fell out. Tomorrow, new o-ring and hopefully the surging will become a thing of the past. 🙏🏻

I have been trying to fix several Nikki's with this problem in the shop I work in. Fairly new Johnson lawn mower with the Nikki carb. They flood over and everything seems fine. Carb kit don't work. Fair play brilliant video manage to fix my dads ride on with this method his main jet o ring was floating not seating properly so I fitted the small o ring on top and hey presto she runs again! Thanks mate!!!!

Thank you so much sir! The carb on my Briggs platinum engine messed up, it acted like it was starving for fuel, when I cleaned it up and put it back together , it had the opposite problem, it flooded out , so I watched another video and your video and discovered the role the o rings can play, so I’m taking it back apart and I’m going to make sure the jet is in there an place The o rings where you and the other video showed you must have them . This after I bought an expensive Briggs rebuild kit that didn’t have all the parts you might need.

The main jet on my nikki carb had no o-ring. I re-installed it without and placed the Harbor Freight o-ring size( A006 ) you mention in No BS ! between the emulsion tube and the main jet as instructed. There's a tiny bit of resistance installing the bowl (as if the o-ring is a tiny bit too thick) and the waffle gasket is barely contacted when everything is fitted properly. Will tightening the bowl screws squeeze the gasket sufficiently ? I would prefer to use the o-ring that goes ON the main jet, but as you state , I don't know the size, and don't want to order the whole kit just for 1 o-ring. Thank you for the vid !

Just wondering if anyone who has done this if the harbor freight kit o-ring is the same size as the original main jet o-ring or is is different size? Said differently, if ya had a good new o-ring where it’s supposed to be per OEM, would the second one even be needed? Some Nikki kits don’t come with the jet o-ring …. some do.

The problem is that the OEM oring is not sold separately. You have to buy a main jet which is $57.00 here in Canada.

Thank you for the video. Question: the main jet also has an o-ring which is on the jet and you place it downward into the white plastic correct? This o-ring is in-addition and you place this 2nd o-ring on top of the main jet. So you have 2 o-rings in total. Thanks.

Thank you! I've ordered that box of O rings, coming from the UK to an address in the UK then on to France so it will be a bit of a wait. Apart from the main jet ring does the box also have the other O ring (for the fuel inlet)? If not I'll have to source that one, too. I could buy a whole unnecessary repair set but I've read too many reviews saying those essential rings are missing. By the way, my main jet plopped out of its place so unless I can find a way of plumping it back up, I'll have to wait. Among my searches I've found one person who says put a duplicate ring above the jet so it meets up with the .... forgotten the name ... the long brass tube, and that makes the whole thing doubly secure from leaking, overfuelling. Any thoughts?

Well, the box of rings finally arrived from Mars, but in the meantime a) I successfully soaked, expanded the ring, b) ordered a carb with the fewest bad reviews, c) have abandoned that since grass hasn't grown since...phew months (in my neck of France) and been working on exterior insulation.

Make sure air filter is clean. Make sure fuel pump is working. While you’re testing the fuel pump, pump some of the gas into a glass jar and inspect it. Fresh gas is clear as water. The more yellow it gets the older and more funky it is.

Oh man I just cleaned out my carbs and noticed my main jet would NOT stay down in that galley correctly, I thought it was supposed to just sit down there without being pushed in and secure or whatever. My mower is not running the worst but I can tell something is wrong with the power delivery. I gotta fix this with a new o-ring, thanks!

Thank you, my god! I just paid 20 bucks locally for the NIKKI rebuild kit, while trying to put on the tiny little sucker, it went flying! I did have a set of O rings, I think a little bigger than original. Cannot for the life of me get the white plastic part to set flush. If I take the O ring off, it will set. The jet doesn't want to go all the way in the tube. Seemed like the original was somewhat flat on each side. Maybe just worn that way. I guess I will head to harbor freight and get the box you have. The original plastic piece is much loser, is that simply worn or are the kits tighter?

@@wcjcnc Is the o-ring you specify 2.9mm ID x 1.78mm cross section. If so, it won't fit in the narrow section at the bottom.

@@wcjcnc Thankyou for the reply. On my carb (UK supplied) there's barely half a mm clearance between the seated jet and the brass tube so no room for the o-ring. Drilling down into the plastic to lower the seat could be an option. Thanks again from England.

@@tombley5760 That’s odd. I’ve put that O-ring into dozens of these carburetors. There’s just enough room so that the brass tube pushes the O-ring down against the top of the jet nice and snug but it doesn’t cause a problem. Maybe they’re made different over there. Who knows

It's good to know about harbor freight..I have the proper oring sizes.the ones you have aren't the correct size.however I guess it works..I'd sizes 6.3 0d size 8.7 cs size 1.2..this is the exact sizes. There's a place in Texas that custom make these..$103 dollars for 100..this is good if you do alot of carbs like I do.

When you buy a new carburetor you should test the needle and seat before you install it. Hold the carburetor upside down. Put the fuel inlet of the carburetor in your mouth and suck on it really hard then stick your tongue over the opening. The vacuum you created should hold your tongue against the opening for 20 seconds. If it doesn’t, the needle and seat are leaking. Also, before you connect the fuel line to the carburetor, always run a little bit of fuel out of the fuel line before you connect it to the carburetor to flush out any tiny bits of debris that may be in the line. If it’s a Nikki carb, like in this video, there’s an o-ring that seals the nipple on the white plastic insert inside the carb to the bottom of the aluminum carb body. If that O-ring is nicked or damaged in any way it will allow the carb to flood.

You need to read what Viton O-rings are used on and its not petroleum products, You should be using Nitrile rubber O-rings.

Not sure what you’re reading but Viton can absolutely be used with gasoline. Viton O-rings are recommended for small engines because they can handle much higher heat. Small engines can run really hot. Over time Nitrile can break down from the heat and get mushy.
