Alcoholism that drives people into the grave doesn't start with fun, it starts with all encompassing depression and hopelessness. Getting drunk is the only way to feel happy and loose for a short time
@dur9118Ай бұрын
There's hundreds of reasons why people start abusing substances. I was a drunk because that's the only way I really enjoy being around people. I'm not socially awkward or anxious, I just don't enjoy it. But I don't particularly enjoy being alone my whole life either. So I found a way out. The people I've known that died from addiction however could not stand the monotony of life. Everything had to be fun, all the time. Going over to the in laws? Lets get hammered. Tuesday afternoon at work? Lets get drunk/high in the bathroom. I knew these people very well; they weren't depressed, ever. They couldn't stand being bored. Lots of people become addicts and die for various reasons. Don't ever read a comment on youtube with lots of likes and think "Well I was never depressed, alcohol started with fun for me, so I must be fine" No way. It absolutely can start for any reason and one day it kills you.

General question from someone that drinks socially, I've seen and known a few ppl like Nikki that have problems and give up drinking altogether, why not try to manage your drinking, I only say that because I don't drink to blackout like she said and I find it great but if I do drink too much then there's a problem, like is it not possible for ppl like her to drink in moderation?

you are looking at this wrong way, you think its fun to be non sober in any way,is there really any need to be non sober?do kids need to be non sober,even slightly..no. its learnt behaviour,if its no biggie to have a couple drinks,and therefore get slightly non sober,why do it,take the edge off? I stopped drinking years ago,not because I had any problem,like you say,I just asked myself again and again,is there any reason to do this?unless I want to feel non sober,I face things now,always,life is better,I am better. I dont know if it makes sense,but there it is
