What would our lives look like if we drowned out all the noise around us? In our modern world, we constantly expose ourselves to different sources of instant gratification like social media, junk food, video games, alcohol, or porn as these activities provide us with one dopamine hit after another. But it can quickly happen that our consumption gets out of balance and we get addicted to one of those things. Our brain creates impulsive behaviors where we don't even think about engaging in one of these activities anymore but just do it right away. In order to show you the benefits of a life without any toxic consumption, I decided to detox from all of these dopamine sources for 7 days. During that time I recognized massive benefits like boosted productivity, mental clarity, and overall calmness. I hope this video motivates you to take back control over your own life as well!

Exactly. The dude is messing with viewers just to get his dopamine. Dopamine fasting is not science based and it is debunked by multiple scientific articles. As harvard edu puts it "You can’t “fast” from a naturally occurring brain chemical".

I watched this video at my office and it has been released two years ago. watching it from east Africa, Ethiopia. I don't have all this resources like shown on this video. I don't have a camera, audio recorder, vehicle, drone, beautiful home around amazing landscape and all extra. I have smartphone on my hand. my phone killed me gradually starting from my age of 16. now I am 28. For all those 12 years my brain activity, my thinking level, my memory, all of my good identity was fadeout. i lost a focus at all currently. I tried a lot of time to escape from it, I tried to watch a lot of video. but nothing happened. today its April 6, 2024 GC. i found this video while i was searching for procrastination. this is experimental video. even if i don't have all this resource to show my change, keep my word, i will overcome all my scattered and wandering mind. I will disengage with all destruction from my phone and my environment. I will regain my focus and become vigilant as my childhood. Thank you in advance

Here I am after 7 Days of Dopamine Detox! Thank you so much, Niklas Christl, for sharing your personal experience and guiding us through each step of the dopamine detox. Your video not only provided valuable insights but also served as a source of motivation for people like me who were seeking a positive change. Throughout the detox, I discovered a newfound appreciation for what truly matters in life. Breaking away from the distractions and bad habits allowed me to reconnect with my thoughts, engage in meaningful activities, and cultivate a sense of discipline I never knew I had. These 7 days were certainly not easy, but the sense of accomplishment I feel now is incredible. I can confidently say that this experience has ignited a positive change in my life, and I am committed to continuing this journey of self-improvement. Thank you once again for guiding this path, and I hope your video reaches many more individuals seeking positive transformations.

As a psychotherapist, I must add that the root cause of all the addictions is dopamine addiction but that can be replaced by getting dopamine by doing good things too. High Intensity workout, achieving small goals, following a routine, being productive & a good sleep - all of these are a source of good dopamine 👌🏻🔥

Yes but the dopamine hits we get from content and junk food is instant and as a result we become impatient and aren't ready to work for the good things. Working out, good sleep, learning new things, they are all slow processes.

This was useful and a 'penny dropping' moment thank you! . I for the life of me couldn't figure out why I had abandoned my daily walking, my permaculture garden project, and baking and socialising. And yet sit for hours on KZbin (like now) , gaming, and social media. Funnily enough most of the content I was watching was self improvement. I had reduced the amount and thought I'm back on track, but after watching this clearly tells me I need to set some rules and remove all 'hijacking' habits to drive my brain to seek delayed gratification activities. Great presentation and film work by the way. 🙏

As I sit here in lockdown, basically from March 2020 at this point, I think about this. I have been working hard to keep positive, trying to improve my life. Tbh, living my own life is not a great thing. Too much stress, isolation, and responsibilities. I keep trying though, but it makes it hard to take advice from a young, obviously wealthy, young man littered with opportunities. His life is not my life. I would rather live his life too.

Congrats to you Ricke ! That's great, i hope you can go on for long :) The first week of stopping is the worst in my opinion, each time I re-stop, I'm still so obsessed with it for so long, that I don't feel productive at all. I encourage any others that may have the same plan to do so :) It's a long journey, but a sober life is a life more worth living, I think. Because, as the videast said... The more you drown yourself in thoses bad habit, the more your decisions are less yours and more those of the content you feed yourself with

I'm currently away from Facebook & Instagram. It's been 2 weeks now. Now I realised that I don't really check my phone like I used to before. I do watch movies or listen to music but that's it. Boredom is actually a very crucial part of creativity imo. Some of the best ideas/thoughts always pop up in your mind when trying to fall asleep, walking alone, having a shower etc (i.e. moments when your brain is not busy and thoughts can flow freely). Boredom is cool and I think people in the past were blessed in a way to have more moments of boredom as it can push you to do or take on things/passions/habits that you wouldn't normally take on in a busy and chaotic life... Great video!

I get the general idea that having too much dopamine can be bad for you because it can cause addictions but then why not just do everything in moderation? I love soda I love juice but I've been drinking lots of water. I've been trying to limit my videogame time to only a couple hours a day and a few days a week I use social media very minimally (except discord and KZbin but I'm working on that) I watch little TV or Movies the only thing that's left is working on cutting out more junk food out of my diet in favor of more balanced meals. I don't think going on a detox is a bad idea it just seems a little unnecessary to cut it all out especially when it's gonna make you go into withdrawal

This has always been the case. Every single trader always used to manipulate human's emotions to sell their product. A shoe salesman and a hair stylist will manipulate your ego into getting their fancy shoes or getting some weird hairdo, a butcher and a baker will sell their products by telling you how delicious they are and what meals you could prepare with it etc. This is not something new. It is not a company's job to take care of you. They are only there to provide you with a product you may want. Stop blaming everyone around you and be responsible.

One crucial tip for everyone : when watching videos like this make sure to take a note while watching it. Otherwise you will forget it completely and lose that motivation you had after some hours. I went to prison a couple of years ago (driving offence), and even though it felt like the longest 4.5 months of my life, by the end I was (mentally) feeling fantastic, i had grown to enjoy things that I never had before, like reading the newspaper, or talking on the phone to freinds/family and reading a lot more and i felt much more fulfilled. Probably only took about a week of being out to revert back to living what feels like an entirely meaningless life, constantly flicking between assorted social media apps just looking for something to make me feel a bit happier. Actually you have the ability to live without these things. Of course it's not easy in our modern society, but there are a lot of human beings that cut themselves out of this connected world. Don't use social media, don't use a smartphone (buy a cheap Nokia etc only for doing phone calls and maybe SMS), buy everything local, not over a laptop on Amazon, check the news in the newspaper etc etc. So basically a similar kind of living like you had in prison. I've been cognizant of the addictive nature of social media for some time now, and generally manage it pretty well, but I noticed since giving birth to my second child 4 months ago I've slowly been slipping into bad phone habits. I paused the video right around when you deleted your social media to delete mine as well. My favorite quote is at 20:06, "I'm spending my time in *my* life, not anyone else's." That sums it up perfectly. Thank you for this beautiful video and for reminding me what life is really about. P.S. where you live is absolutely stunning!

Ok, so I read a lot of comments sayn that it's much more easier if you're rich like this guy and I thought so firstly. But then I realized that even if I would have his life that doesn't mean I would do this challenge properly. It's just a way of excusing and not doing the job to just say "If only I were rich...". Plus you know, when you're rich, temptations and addictions are more close to you, so in some cases it might be even harder to detox. So stop searching for excuses and start detoxing (no matter how many days you keep going, it's more important that you tried at least). And I have to say : that's a message I wrote for myself, firstly, but you're welcome too

@justnotme6886
@justnotme6886 3 жыл бұрын
@@turtles8229 I kinda understand your point of view, but what I've realized is that this challenge is not about having great places to escape (even though it makes the challenge easier), but to avoid bad habits. I mean, I may have those nice places, but that does not mean that when I come back home I won't feel like going back to old habits and vices. Of course those places make it easier, but you're the one that's fighting your habits, those places won't fight your vices. And about lockdown, you can call your friends and talk with em, just like this guy did or idk, exercise, practice meditation, read an interesting book, learn how to cook, draw, learn something new etc. I mean if you really want that, you'll find some sort of activities to do. But if you don't, then you'll remain on that mindset of : "I don't have great places where to go, or dogs, water pool etc" and you ll continue to stay in your comfort zone. And again, that's a message for me, firstly, but as I said, you're welcome too

I think there are two aspects to sport - mental and physical. Silence helps you train the mental aspect, improving your psychological conditioning. Music boosts your mental aspect so you can push past it, thus pushing your body to its limits, if your mental aspect is weaker. This improves your physiology more than if you trained in silence (but at the expense of extra mental conditioning).

Great video! I am happy that as a boomer I got to spend the vast majority of my life pre-social media. But even for me, sitting quietly is not easy. I sat in a doctor's waiting room 45 minutes yesterday, just observing and listening and thinking ( or at least trying to think...). Everyone else was staring at a device. You reference the awareness and calmness that came back into your life - research is starting to document the negative effects of screen addiction, and I am afraid we are just seeing the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
