This video is full of casual ESPN talking points and it’s kind of embarrassing. 1) he spends half the video talking about how terrible of a gm Booth is for letting KCP and BB walk when he’s the guy who brought Bruce Brown and KCP to Denver after years of Connelly signing defensive lability guards like compazzo and rivers to run with Jokic in 2 of his MVP seasons. Talk about “wasting” a prime year of Jokic. 2) if this guy did 5 minutes of research he would find out that there was no way they could keep Bruce brown due to the maximum amount of 7.8 million a year which he proved he’s worth much more than that on the open market. 3) Denver let KCP go because if they signed him to that 70+ million dollar deal they likely would not be able to resign Gordon this off-season and most definitely would not have any room to add a backup big and guard which they got this off-season. 4) Saying Jokic will retire early because he “likes horses and farms” more than basketball then later saying that he’s going to leave Denver because he wants to win is the worst contradiction I’ve heard yet. Does he care about basketball or not? 5) Every video this guy makes relating to the CBA he brings up how terrible the MPJ contract is while bashing Booth but fails to realize that the “genius” he praises in the video: Tim Connelly is the guy who gave him that contract because of his loyalty to players he drafted. This guy has previously said that Jokic will never win a ring with Denver and the very same year they ran through the western conference with a 16-4 record with Booth as the GM. This was when they had the stacked roster with brown and KCP and he couldn’t see that they were a contender then so I wouldn’t say he has an eye for who the top dog in the western conference is.

I can understand giving MPJ the max, but that hasn't panned out since that max kicked in. I'm assuming that because of the drama with his brothers (one being banned from the NBA, two for DUI with one being convicted for homicide) he probably wasn't playing anywhere near 100%. Hopefully he's able to get back on track for this season. With that being said, they definitely didn't do themselves any favors letting their depth leave, and when you have the best player in the NBA (or at least, a top 3 player) with a great scorer who complements him, you do what you can in order to win.

As for Michael Porter, your proposed trade is idiotic. Reserves do not win championships, starters do. MPJ is more than solid and yet to hit his prime. And his "max" contract is $36M, which is a bargain in today's market for a guy who goes 17 and 7, with 48/40/84 splits.

Leaving your team for a better situation usually ends up with you being in a worse one - definitely in the nba today. Teams can't just throw contracts, and when you want to get Jokic, you have to gut your team, and create a bad one. The new generation is looking at KD, Harden, Westbrook, PG13, Kawhi, and looks at Curry, Giannis and Jokic - and sees - when you stay, you usually get more rewarded (ofc, the KD warriors deal was a very specific scenario where they didn't have to gut their team)

Good intro. Good questions too. I always liked Russ, but he's about done now. Denver Nuggets, right now, are not a true contender. Nuggets Owners (Kroenkes), GM (Booth), Front office (bunch of incompetent nepotism hires) - simply destroyed Jokic's chances to win another chip, and betrayed the Nuggets fans. Few weeks ago: Josh Kroenke: "when you have the best player on the planet, you have to go for it" Booth: "I'm the steward of Jokic's prime". End result: Nuggets lose KCP and bring in Saric and maybe-westbrook. That's "going for it", that's "stewarding Jokic's prime". Kroenke and Booth flat-out LIED. They even got caught lying about offering KCP an extension. Nuggets never had a decent backup center, a decent backup handler/creator, and a backup 3&D wing (BB was a brief exception). Never. Nuggets NEVER had even a mediocre 2nd unit. Never had a real "all-star" next to Jokic either. Last season - roster was much worse than when they won the championship, this season the roster is even worse than that. Now - here's the piece for you guys to talk about: The reason for this debacle is that Kroenkes are preparing to sell Nuggets and are in the talks about it for about 12 months now (last 4 months talks are "productive"). Kroenkes priority is cost control, limiting liabilities and obligations, and giving the next owners "space" under the aprons. Last two seasons look pretty on the books - full arena, revenue almost doubled, brand expansion... And Kroenkes know this is the moment to sell. Prettying the bottom line and offloading Nuggets for a huge profit. And that's the whole story. That's it. BTW - don't ask me how I know this - as these talks are held in strict confidence since they started. But it's true. I hope that Jokic's mgmt team (Raznjatovic) and Jokic himself are aware of it - I know messages were passed to them. And I hope that they trust it - and will f*k Kroenkes in their greedy a**es. By simply demanding a TRADE. Let's see how their "bottom line" is gonna look then.
