not likely under normal circumstances considering the tiny aperture and small apeeture lens. when using the camera with a subject very close to the camera or very far from you with the telephoto... you could probably get some background blur. there are calculations you can do to figure out "depth of field" given the aperture, focal length, distance to subject, and sensor size. www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

Hello! I was wondering if this camera is a great option for moon photography? I keep seeing that there’s no manual settings in this camera meaning I can’t adjust exposure or iso which is important when I get captures of the moon. 😬 would you recommend this camera for moon captures?
@ScottJWaldron3 жыл бұрын
I haven't looked at it in years so I don't remember much about the camera to comment on exact features. You'd be better off looking at the online manual. Moon photography is a very specific task and I agree that having a camera you can do full manual exposure with would be needed, so I think you answered your own question here with a "no". If you want the cheapest option then a bridge camera like this is probably the only option. Look for one with full manual exposure and RAW image output if possible. Besides that feature you probably won't find a huge amount of difference in image quality of this type of 1/2.3" sensor bridge camera between the manufacturers that make them.

@ScottJWaldron2 жыл бұрын
If money is an issue, it's probably better to get a used DSLR and lens with a wide aperture and focal length (say 10-24mm and aperture of f/2.8 or larger) . I'm no expert on astro photography, but capturing small portions of the sky would be a lot more difficult than wide field. So having a camera like this wouldn't work well for what it can do (cheap optical zoom lens built in)

@ScottJWaldron3 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest saving up for a camera like the Sony A6000 or Canon EOS M50 with a kit lens at least. I'm never going to recommend a camera like this for anything but casual hobby use where the person wants the long range zoom lens and can't afford an alternative. The quality you'd get from this camera is not better than a smartphone for your use case. If you don't care about quality then by all means give it a go. Be sure the store you buy it from has a good return policy. I've never heard of a selfie museum. You want to take wide angle portraits of people that looks like selfies? Or you want standard looking portraits? Let's say you get a Sony A6000. The lens it comes with is 16-50mm. which is okay for wide angle selfies. For standard portraits get something like a 35 or 50mm f/1.8 lens to get a softer looking background (if setup and used properly). To get nice looking photos the biggest thing is lighting. A decent camera will only take you so far. Large diffuse light sources are best for a pleasing look. Do a search on "clamshell lighting" as one option.

Any place that sells the d3500 or something similar and I can do like a payment plan - zip pay etc?
@ScottJWaldron4 жыл бұрын
A "digital SLR" like the D3500 is significantly better than this camera. The sensor inside that records the light is huge in the D3500 compared to this B600, and you can eventually get more lenses for the D3500. Whereas the B600 has a fixed lens. Though, I'd suggest something like the Sony A6000 or A6100 instead because it is newer technology called "mirrorless cameras" that has benefits like an electronic viewfinder. If you want a Nikon mirrorless camera the only one at the moment is the Z50 which is good but a lot more expensive.

@@ScottJWaldron What point and shoot camera would you recommend for taking videos?
@ScottJWaldron3 жыл бұрын
@@kalisky144 A decent smartphone will be better than many low cost point-and-shoot cameras for most video tasks. It's not until you get up to cameras like the Sony ZV-1 that there is a noticeable difference in quality and functionality. The problem is that it has a premium price due to how small it is for the quality it offers. The best value in a new normal exchangeable lens camera would be something like the Sony A6100 (no video clip time limit cap which is very nice), Canon EOS M50 Mark II (4k is lacking but 1080p is good), NIkon Z50, or Fujifilm X-T200. Maybe there are a few decent point-and-shoot cameras that stand above the rest, but I don't have personal experience or have compared cameras to give a specific suggestion. As long as you get a decent brand it should be alright. Basically Canon, Sony, Nikon, and Panasonic.
