I bought mine in 2010 and still use it today 13yrs later. Only upgrade i did was changed the lens to the 35mm f1.8g prime and never looked back. Awesome little set-up with fantastic photo's 👍👍

I have the same cam, been using the kit lens, and have the option to go either 35mm or 50mm, which should I get?
@robbellphoto Жыл бұрын
@@sachiththacooray7997 50mm works great for me but it’s personal preference ! 35 is also pretty sweet for capturing wider compositions

@@sachiththacooray7997 Most folk's use the 50mm . I use the 35mm as I photograph mostly landscapes but either lens will do perfectly. It's all down to what you're interests are 👍👍

I just happened upon this camera in a local pawn shop, and paid almost exactly the price you quoted. It came with extra lenses and Nikon flash, so I was happy. I've had fun with it, but this is the only positive review I've seen online. Reviewers generally poop all over it.

It's a great starter camera and I highly recommend picking one up if you see one

Best mode for shots of paintings in natural light?

I think the D3000 was the last CCD sensor DSLR that Nikon made. I love my old D200 because it was the last pro body with a CCD sensor, sharper, super fast focus. It's still a sweetheart even though just 10mp. The 300s was also a top performer even though it has a CMOS sensor. I loved my D40X too, also 10mp.

I bought one to my wife back in 2010. She grew it out, but I still use it with a 35mm lens. It's a great everyday carry. With the 35mm lens, it is extremely lightweight. Just Chuck it next to me in the car and good to go.

I agree it’s a great all day any day shooter ! I wish the focus was a little faster ;-)

I bought my at a Nikon convention. For $599 I loved this camera.. until someone stole my gear 😢 so in 2023 o how a used on for 200 I have newer cameras but this one it’s so light and easy to use. I using it today 😊.. yes I recommend this camera for anyone starting photography for the price and learning tool built in is great… oh wait the battery grips Nikon never did it for this camera but you can get them Amazon

I’m so sorry you were a victim of crime. Someone stole my XA from my car :-( ….. I didn’t care so much about the camera …. The 3/4 roll of Film with pics of my family that I’m sure they just chucked … now that was upsetting

i bought this camera recently second hand. everything is okay but the live view doesn’t work. when i press the live view button, the shutter gets stuck half way and i have to press down the mirror whole clicking to fix the shutter. how can i fix the live view option??
@robbellphoto6 күн бұрын
Well that sucks I’m so sorry :-( . I’ve never seen this issue on the 3100. And, it’s almost too cheap to justify taking to a repair shop. I’d say avoid the live view :-(

Just been gifted this for free as a friend of my uncle said he didn't need it and knew I do a level photography. Is this better than a Samsung s21 camera?
@robbellphoto Жыл бұрын
The Samsung Cell phone camera ? Cell phones have great cameras and tech these days. The Nikon D3100 is a DSLR which means you can use F mount lenses in order to create natural images without the need for AI to create beautiful depth of field etc. Cell phones and DSLRs will create different vibes. Also the DSLR will help you develop your photography using manual mode ;-) good luck with the course
