Here are the shortcuts to adjusting ISO, Shutter Speed, and aperture (f-stop): 1. Set Mode dial to M 2. To adjust Shutter speed, use the command dial 3. To adjust aperture (f-stop), press button to the right of the on/off switch and roll the command dial simultaneously 4. To adjust ISO, press the Fn button on the left side of the camera and roll the command dial simultaneously

@TomPhotoix8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Garwood It might be ok, but you'd be much better off using shutter priority and setting it yourself. Also the focus is very important and I doubt the auto modes will be very good at figuring out what you are trying to focus on.

What type of macro lens do you suggest? I'm looking for the biggest bang for a buck.
@TomPhotoix4 жыл бұрын
My go to macro is the sigma 150mm f/2.8 OS. The longer focal length makes it much easier to get decent insect and flower shots without external lighting. It’s quite heavy, but the quality is excellent. Other than that, the sigma 105mm or the tamron 90mm on the budget end. I’ve owned the Nikon 105vr and whilst it’s very good, it’s not worth double the amount of the sigmas in my opinion, so it’s hard to recommend when you can get something just as good for a lot less money.

If you were shooting in Raw plus JPG then you will still have the Raw (NEF) file to process on your computer. This will be full details in colour as recorded by the sensor. If you had only JPG then sadly you've probably only got the B&W image file. Have you tried placing the memory card in a card reader to see what image files were saved?

When shooting portraits is it best to use manual mode or Aperture priority? Since I would want the background to be blurred with a wide aperture
@TomPhotoix9 жыл бұрын
+Andeedom12 Which ever you prefer. Both achieve the same thing in the end. In Aperture, you set the aperture you want and the camera selects the shutter speed, which you either agree with and keep, or adjust using exposure compensation. In manual, you select the aperture and the shutter speed you consider correct. If you just line up the exposure meter to what the camera thinks is correct, then you may as well just use aperture priority and save yourself an extra step.

can you take videos with these modes?
@TomPhotoix8 жыл бұрын
+Migdad Hi yes, any mode will shoot video, but you won't have any control over the settings at all, it's much better to shoot video in manual mode.
@migdadhi50818 жыл бұрын
thankyou for your reply Tom, but for a beginner who doesn't know how to work all the settings of the camera, wouldn't it be difficult for them to shoot the video on manual mode? would auto do the job?
@TomPhotoix8 жыл бұрын
Auto will do a reasonable job yes, but in manual you can control the aperture and get slightly better looking videos. Generally your shutter speed wants to be double your frame rate, so if shooting at 30fps your shutter speed wants to be 1/60. Then set your aperture to whatever you want and adjust the ISO to get a good looking exposure
@germainejoseph86684 жыл бұрын
Gives me more confidence to try manual mode. Find that the manual does not explain a whole lot.
