@@crxracer805 The D700 image quality is as good as the crappy toy D600, just smaller images. The D700 also beats the D600 in low light performance, is built like a tank from metal, and will probably last 10 times as long as the kiddy D600 camera. How's that for an answer?

It's 2021 and I still use dSLR's and my Nikon D600, D700 and D800 see a lot of use. When it comes to travel or leisurely photography the D600 wins every time because of the smaller size and weight but for serious work where I make a few bucks it's the D800 backed up by the D700 because the 24mp is not a factor in my photography. BTW, because the Nikon D600 supposedly had oil issues which my camera never had they became cheap when the D610 was introduced and I got a very minty D600 for $400, the cost of the D600 is the main reason I own and use one in 2021. When I can get a Nikon Z6II for $400 I'll go mirrorless!

I have not been able program the D610 to do 100% zoom on to the focus point (which is a feature I use all the time with my other Nikons.) Other than that, I am so far liking the D610.

The D700 is, even 4yrs after it's discontinuation, still a fantastic camera. If Nikon had a lick of sense they would have released a D900 instead of the D750 with the D4 sensor. Oh and a D400 instead of the Pointless D600 series. 'Controversial' perhaps but that's my opinion :) Some say the D750 replaced the D700, others say it was the D800. Neither are correct. The D750 is a far less durable 'consumer' FX camera and the D800 series has a ridiculously large, albeit incredible, 36mp sensor and not appropriate for most Photographers. The D700, of course, was basically a D3 in almost every regard but in a smaller body. Perhaps, now that Nikon have released the D5 and the D500, next year we will see a true replacement for the D700.. No clue what they'd call it though.. The Nikon naming system has long since ceased to make any logical sense.

I have a tip and its never given me any issues :) I use an adaptor that takes SD cards, works perfect! so I am not limited to using a CF :)

The D600's image quality at ISO > 1600 is much better. It also allows shallower depth of field. However, even though it is a 'compact' full frame, it is still significantly larger than OM-D. D600 is really in another category of camera.

14:45 NOT AGREE, the D700 is the mooost customizable camera EVER (with top pro cameras), and by pressing the info button twice, it's easy to switch between 4 setups you've pre-set before shooting, not only "U1 and U2" !!!!

also the d700 does NOT have an automatic shooting mode. so if you need to get a quick snapshot youre out of luck you need to change settings..

i've recently bought the d800. 16gb of ram and few external hdds have solved the problem with megapixels. but d800 works 20% slower then d700 and works from 2 to 2,5 times less on one charge. all i mean is.... you're goddamn right!!! now i am going to shoot wedding with a few batteries and Cf cards on my belt)))

I also work with raws and not with jpeg. Of course, more RAM means faster. The software NX2 works very well the D800E files. But I repeat: of course, more RAM means faster!

When they upgraded d800 firmware so d800 could use record button as ISO, it is now better camera than d700 for sure.

The d600 with the d700 viewfinder, and id consider it, but atm, i will be trying to buy a d700. The d600 is better in all the ways i dont care about. So the D700 is a lot better choice for me.

The d700 was an absolute still for the price, I bought it for $850 now I'm into the fx world with some nice lenses 50mm 1.8 and nikon 70-200mm 2.8 vr :D Happy shooting.. And the build quality is something I would expect from Apple just remarkable

Hey, are you familiar with "photo SFX art" (do a Google search for it)? There you can watch a nice free video explaining how you can make brilliant photos. It made it easier for Daniel to take photos that have a jaw-dropping-effect when you take a look at them. I hope it works for you as well...

The D700 is a great camera, a historical piece. But if I already didn't have the D800E, I would like to buy the D600, not the D700. The D600 is a new project, has a GREAT sensor, the right number of pixels, has the option of video: the D600 is the development of the last 10 years of the digital-history. The D600 is the BEST of the BEST after the D800.

Hi, are you familiar with "Photo SFXart Tricks" (just search on Google for it ...)? On their website you will find a good free video featuring the way to make awesome photographs. This made it possible for Matt to create photographs that have a jaw-dropping-effect whenever you take a look at them. It might work for you also.
