Hi Tony. My Sony a99 has a tilting, extending screen. It's a 35mm full frame digital camera. It's been out since October 2012. By the way, the tilt is much more versatile than this one (and the body has GPS). Just another friendly reminder, don't forget about Sony's offerings in your comparisons (as you did when you said that only Canon and Nikon had full frame 70-200 f/2.8 lenses in another video).

Finally a full-frame camera with a tilting screen. My prayers have been answered as a macro photographer. Many times when my camera is on a tripod angled down or up on a subject, it's awkward if not impossible to look into the viewfinder. With a tilting screen, I can now use Live View and zoom into my focus point on the screen and make sure focus is dead on before I press the shutter. Nikon nailed it here.
@justinsane3909

My mistake, they didn't exactly nail it, they left the AA filter on the sensor....Not the best for macro photographers looking to achieve maximum sharpness. Now I have to decide between the D5300 or the D750...

Tony i always watch you and Chelsea when i want to get the latest updates on Camera equipment. i got your book, Stunning Digital Photography. It's great thanks. Question i bought the Nikon D5300 when it came out. it has a lot of new features that had not been out yet on other cameras. New Expeed 4 sensor, WiFi and GPS built in, i like the full articulating screen, No AA filter.these are just some of the great things on this camera. i use it daily. shooting bands, car shows, fire works. and so on. it has really been a great camera. i also bought a D300, very good camera. but now i am ready to move up to Full frame. i really like the D750 it has a lot of the same features that my 5300 has. and it is 1000.00 less than the 810. the only thing that bothers me about the D750 is that it has an AA filter. will that make that big of a difference on Picture quality. I don't get why Nikon did this. The D5300 didn't have it. the new D810 doesn't have it. why would they bring that back. any clues, and like i said will it make a big difference you think. thanks for your response.

Thank you Tony for this very informative overview. I am one that has not yet invested heavily in lenses, so when I upgrade I can switch from my crop Canon to a full frame Nikon. I was already considering the Nikon D750. Your videos, which are always helpful, have really aided in my decision. You give facts and enough technical details (without completely overwhelming me) in a concise manner which I appreciate. I have so much to learn, but I'm a serious enthusiast endeavoring to grow as a photographer. I wish Canon would get more in the full frame game and create an additional strong contender beyond the 6D, particularly in this price range. Thank you both for all of your work and effort, it shows in your videos.

It seems that a lot depends on where you're at and where you want to be. I'm shooting the heck out my D7000 and my business is growing and operating in the black. For me, the D750 (specs at least) makes perfect sense. It's worth the extra dollars over the D610. One other feature I've heard you didn't mention is apparently the shutter is extremely quiet... apparently. Great vid Tony- I look forward to you review once you have an actual camera to test. I'll be buying one of your books soon and always enjoy the info you share. Thank you! UPDATE- just bought the SDP book... thanks again!

The sensor in the D750 is different than the D610. Compare the low light performance and it's obvious that those cameras have different sensors. The D750 does much better than the D610 when using high ISOs.

Metering system jump from 2,016 to 91,000 point might make a massive difference in face recognition for autofocus. As I understand, DSLR's essentially are limited to using the metering sensor for face recognition. Mirrorless systems, by contrast, can make full use of the image information for face recognition because the image sensor is continually exposed to the entire scene. This might explain why my Sony a6000 does face recognition so much better than my Nikon D750. (750 is vastly better in most respects including low light autofocus and overall image quality.)

I just got my D750 two weeks ago. I choose it cause of the great AF system , great low light performance.Sure D810 has 36mp plus a neat dial to choose between matrix, spot and center weight .But 1000 extra for the D810 for thise and higher iso whuch i would hardly use too much.So I got the D750.

A consideration for me is the weight of the camera. If you are in the field the D800 is heavier to carry around. The D700 is 750g vs the D810 is 880g.

I just went from the Nikon D610 to the D810, and the difference was worlds apart! The viewfinder is so much better, the way the camera reacts, and the button layout is made for pros. Always changing the ISO with the stupid button on the D610 was horrible, but the D810 is flawless as far as I'm concerned.

Great review. I was going to upgrade my D600 (no oil issues for me!) but I think I'll hold off a little longer and treat myself to the 24-70mm instead. I'm buying the 70-200mm in the next week or so the two will go well together. Since I'm happy with the D600 I probably won't upgrade the body for another year or so.

Even with identical sensors the D750 may outperform the D610. The AD converters used to digitize the sensor output also influence the noise performance and these can be different. So see if you can test the camera, saying it performs the same without actual hands--on experience is a premature conclusion.

AF at -3 EV is great. Just browse for light conditions worse than -2 EV. You can't always light your subject with a flashlight for AF or focus manually (in most cases your only chance when it is dark). And because a lens motor needs space behind the infinity setting to move fowards and backwards, setting a lens manually to infinity almost never works.

one bit of advice, if you want to use a second camera angle, then look at the second camera while talking, because it is strange to have someone talking to you while looking off in another direction, as far as the review goes, it looks like a great camera for the money, I wish it was out when I bought my 5Dlll, I never would of switched from Nikon to Canon, and one thing I don't think you mentioned is the weight, 750 gram, and my 5Dlll is 950 gram, that is a huge difference in weight, but as far as the 5Dlll goes, I have seen it online for as little as $2500 new, witch doesn't make me happy because I paid $3500 for mine when it came out, and now if I want to sell it, I am wondering what I could sell it for, part of me would love to go back to Nikon, but now I have all this Canon glass, and actually what I really want is to go mirrorless, just waiting for one that blows me away, I think the next generation A7 cameras will rock, As good as these new Nikons are, they are still DSLR's and the future is mirrorless, even if it's in a DSLR style body, and it isn't mirrorless vs DSLR, it is new technology vs old, and new Technology will win every time

MrKdr500 You don't call carbon fibre as plastic! Sports car and Aircrafts use that material! And they are pretty robust and weather sealed. >:(
@daramy9507
@daramy9507 10 жыл бұрын
MrKdr500 The Nikon D750 body structure is made of magnesium alloy which is a strong metal. It also comes with carbon fiber composite material as part of its structure. Carbon fiber is a new material that is very lightweight without sacrificing strength or durability. It is used in the aerospace industry to reduce weight and provide a high structural rigidity. It is used in aircraft, satellites, engines, etc. The D750 is superior to the 5D3 in every possible way - video, resolution, auto focus, Wi-Fi, and a tilting LCD screen. The 5D3 is an old camera with dated features. The D750 has a higher resolution full frame sensor and cost about $1,000 less than the 5D3. The D750 is able to auto-focus instantly in extremely low light situations at the limits of human vision (-3 EV). Just look at the professional reviews of the Nikon D750, it is receiving top ratings.
@daramy9507
@daramy9507 10 жыл бұрын
One way to look at it is - since the D750 is a superior camera, Nikon just did you a favor by taking $1,200 off the price you paid for the 5DIII. So even if you sell it for $2,000, the D750 will only cost you $500 for the upgrade price. If you sell the Canon lens, you can still get some sharp Nikon FX lens for less than $500 to start with. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR FX Lens goes for only $217 and is apparently very sharp. Also, the Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S Nikkor Zoom Lens at $1,050 is a top performer.

Actually, the maximum native ISO of the D610 is 6400, not 12800, so this is effectively an extra step of ISO for the D750. I might have missed this part, but you can now control aperture in video. Great review nonetheless. Regards.

Per Dpreview, D750 does have AA filter. www.dpreview.com/previews/nikon-d750 you say in your review it does not. Another problem with D750 in addition to disappointing 1/4000 is lower Flash xsync rate - 1/200. D810 (like D800, D700, and even D7000 before it, could go to 1/320).

I have a D3 and D600, I do weddings/events/portraits. I LOVE my D3 so much but would this make a better primary and have the D600 as my backup? Did I mention that I love my D3? The color reproduction is fantastic, what a great sensor in my opinion.

Although I don't think this new sensor to be vastly superior to the D610, I do think they've upgraded it a bit. Nikon has a long history of tweaking their sensors between products. I actually suspect this will be Nikon's best low light camera. Also, the D750 has an AA filter. I'm being told that 24MP on a FF sensor is two few MP to avoid jaggies and anti-alising.

Hi Tony, let me first say that i really enjoy your awesome reviews, second can you please go over (AA) anti aliasing and why it is so bad, i know Nikon removed AA from D810, but its still exist in the Nikon D750. It seems to me like the more MP camera has the less need for AA, am i right ? I am enthusiast and would be using the camera for home studio, family vacation, and love to shoot videos of beautiful girls. Thank you,

Should I buy a new D750 or a used D810? They both are in my budget. I’m ditching Canon . They have new D810 on EBay for 1650 but I’m afraid to buy one from EBay, so that’s why i would get used.

You mentioned how Nikon has released more full-frame models than Canon in the last couple of years and I think it has to do with the fact that Nikon is primarily a camera/lens company only, whereas Canon has many products under its wing to manage. I prefer a company that sticks to one product, putting their money into R&D for the future models. Company's like Sony and Canon, have much to juggle and if one product area is failing, money, time, and management will shift its focus to save it.

Hello Tony, I actually just bought the Nikon D750 with the kit lens before viewing your video unfortunately & I wanted to buy a second body & I'm debating between the Nikon D3s (used but good condition), or another D750 (brand-new or just used), or a used D810 (also used but good condition), I only shoot JPEG, I don't shoot sports, or wildlife, but pretty much everything else, from Weddings, portraits, live events, fashion shoots you name it… I was originally using the D700 & I was extremely happy with it… It's only drawback it did not have video, I also don't use postprocessing that often except when highly needed… I shoot small clips and/or small episodes… So what is your recommendations for me is the video on the Nikon D3s, horrible? Considering the fact that I shoot only JPEG would the large files of the D810 really make a difference? Please provide your opinion based on picture quality/sharpness/colors and focusing system. Thank you very much for your time, I highly appreciate it… :-)

I would say Nikon has 4 full frame cameras, plus one limited edition model, Df. Did Tony just say only Nikon has a full frame body with Wi-Fi? I doubt if the -3 Ev focusing applies to all of the AF points. The -3 Ev spec is probably just for the center AF point. My single biggest complaint with my Nikon D3 is that I cannot use the large rear display for shooting info when on a tripod. The screen blanks out as soon as I touch the shutter, so I am forced to used the top LCD. My Canon 1D Mark IV can show real time exposure info on the rear screen, and it is older than the D3. Has Nikon added this feature, yet? It is a total non-starter for me, and why I shoot with Canon.

Your MP info. per lens and camera was useful. What about DR. What lenses, if any, will get the most DR from each camera and does it make a difference which camera you use.

I'm looking to upgrade from a D7100 (Dx) to a full frame and am looking at the D750 and will use it for family beach portraits & real estate. Is there a considerable photo quality and lighting advantage in going to a full frame? A Nikon rep (D7100 user) said I won't see a huge difference, but I would rather ask someone who has actually test both cameras. Are you familiar with both?

i've seen lots of your videos Tony, but i didnt know that youre a Nikon biased! can you elaborate a bit on the "more specific lenses" thingy? i mean you can get all the lenses you'd need from other manufacturers such as Sigma.. so is it still an issue to worry about?

tony can you suggest by looking at the video what lenses they was using or what is equal in your opinion to have this result ? even if it's more than one lens could be for canon or nikon. i know they can use expensive lenses but if you can suggest "a like" it's would be nice.

Amazing video as always. I have a thought about 4k missing on the d750! Nikon is constantly battling Canon and viceversa, so, isn't it possible that, as Canon has not yet a competitor camera to the d750 with 4k capabilities, that that Nikon preferred to, you know, "fly low" with that?

I am going to upgrade to a full frame and considering three combos; D750+85mm1.8G_D610+Tamron70-200f2.8 DiVC(or Nikon70-200f4)_Canon6D+135mmf2L. For me, They are comparable since each of these would cost me the same and I cannot afford more at this moment. I know that 135mm is different from 85mm or a zoom lens is more versatile but since I am more into portrait, a fast medium-long focal length is a must for me. I am not into action photography but I need accurate peripheral fous points since the focus and recompose technique is out of question due to the paper thin DOF. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me which combo would meet my need better.

I own a canon 50D and some basic lenses and am really poised to make the jump to full frame. Would you suggest i wait for the 5D mk4 so i can have a better choice or i go for the D750 nikon? What i like a lot is the tilt screen which for me is useful to take shots and video from high above or real low and i do not think it will feature in the 5dmk4. Also what i like a lot are the wifi feature and the popup flash which is useful when travelling and cannot carry a lot of gear and judging from canon's history it won't feature either in the mk4. Also what lenses would you suggest for a serious enthusiast like me? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work
