I made and scheduled this video around a week before the new Z50 II was announced. It was just my luck that it came out right after the new camera that goes well with this lens was released. It worked well with the Z50. It will probably work even better with the new Z50 II. :)

The Z50 seems like a very capable little camera. The camera lens combo makes for a great back porch combo. Would be interesting to see the Z50ii perform with the same lens. Fun video with great shots as usual, Thanks for sharing.
@PhilThach4 күн бұрын
The shots should look the same with the Z50 II, it has the same sensor. They should be a little easier to bag with the bird eye detect autofocus that the Z50 II has and this camera lacks.

Nice video Phil. I used this combo until i landed my 180-600. I still use this when I want a walk around with reach. It is sharp enough and produces clean imagery. What is also impressive is its compression. Very impressed with images during daylight hours of course. I definitely need a tripod to do video with this combo.

Really enjoyed your video. I picked this lens up a year or so ago to take on a bus trip to the Bronx Zoo. I wanted something light in combination with the z7 ll and with maximum effective reach around 400mm. The results were far above expectation with regard to sharpness, color rendition and artifacts. Stabilization was excellent and allowed for slower shutter speeds necessitated by what turned out to be an overcast day. I later found my self grabbing the same pair for several other outings including a Magee boardwalk trip. I always thought I would end up pairing the lens with a better focusing APS alternative like the Z50 ll. The downside would be always having to pray for clear weather while knowing that some of my best photos come from birds during a downpour. I did buy a Z9 and Z100-400 lens as a backup!

This lens blew me away when I got it in a bundle purchase of a used z50. I've fished around all kinds of affordable ways to get a lens with some reach to get bird photos but this thing seems to always be the best option because it's so sharp you can afford to crop. For example I tried a M4/3 setup with the 100-300 II panasonic lens and it looked rubbish compared to this despite having way more reach.

Your video is much helpful, you mentioned 10 feet (3 mtr) while shooting Carolina & Red bellied WP. Its useful info, last week I tried shooting sparrow in my backyard which are almost same size as Carolina, but I was using D3300+55-200 at almost 20 feet, it felt I need 400mm lens on D3300. Also there was lot of noise , might upgrade to FF with 200-600 lens

So my question is how is the Subject Detection on the Z50II? Did it wander off or stayed on the subject? I had a problem with the Sony A7RV with the neighborhood squirrel using animal subject detection. I finally had to use my pointer finger to direct it to the furry animal eating the Live Oak Acorns. Had some difficulty with the A7CR also but it did better. Great Pics as always. Cheers!

@@PhilThach I have too and I also have used the Megadap ETZ21 Pro with the 70-350mm APSC lens with the Z50. Including the Sigma 60-600mm for Sony and the Nikkor Z 180-600mm. It is great to be alive and have a lot of capabilities for photography and video content. The only thing is I am using Full Frame more than APSC nowadays. I still have got the Z50 and Zfc with an assortment of DX Lenses. I agree small cameras can pack a punch and give great results. Like the R10 the Z50 has a flash and I use it every time on a shoot. On the fence with the Z50II so I will be watching your videos quite a bit. My local camera store has the camera with both kit lenses 16-50 & 50-250 but I already have them and they upped the price of the Z50II to $950 instead of $906. I guess they have to make a profit somewhere. Best Buy has the Retail Price but they are always sold out or Out of Stock. Even online webstore. I always find a better deal though elsewhere. Grays of Westminster is selling the camera with a free battery charger. I came into your stream late last night and missed the unboxing. I will now do a Rewind to watch it again. Cheers!
