This is a great little camera and have loved adding it to my other Z bodies. It’s just a great small capable camera. While some are having hissy fits over no IBIS, same sensor, and so on… it’s an entry level camera that Nikon is fighting price points with. If it had IBIS and a 24mp sensor, I’d bet the cost would be in the $1200-1500 range. If folks understood how manufacturing, development, and basic business plays into pricing they may whine less.

This is my absolute favorite APSC camera ever and Ive owned or still own from Sony, Canon, Fuji (and Pentax that i still love). Its Auto focus sticks like Velcro. And the best built in microphone ever created 9:05

I bought this camera and kit lens from you (Park cameras) as a backup/first mirrorless camera - love it. Very small, bird af is great, as is the focus stacking and pre-capture. Plus, with the FTZ adapter, it works with my old F-mount lenses. Great

great informative review thanks park Cameras

Thanks for the review. It looks like a great camera. The only complaint I have is the lack of a sensor dust reduction system.

I have a question for the person reviewing the Nikon Z50 mark 2 camera. I am trying to find out whether this camera works well on F to Z adapted lenses, particularly, Sigma 150 to 600mm F mount, Sigma 100 to 400mm F mount, Sigma 18 to 35 mm F mount apsc. Also EF to Z adaptor with autofocus, so I can add my canon EF glass to my Nikon set up?

I have had really positive results with the FTZ adapter and the Sigma 150-600mm lens

so they gave it their highest end processor, but still limit it to 4k60? the Z9 and Z8 can both do 4k120 which is basically a necessity

You will find sensor readout speed might be the limiting factor here.

A shame that they didn't bump up the resolution a bit. Then I could have used it with my Z400mm f/4.5 to get to 600mm without losing light gathering capability like when you use a teleconverter. But doing that makes no sense, if the Z50 II only has 20 megapixels, because that's the same as a Z7ii, Z8 or Z9 used in DX mode.
@Ben_StewartАй бұрын
The Pixel size of the Z50/50ii is 4.22 µm. The Pixel size of the Z8/9 is 4.35 µm almost identical image sampling. In fact the Z50ii has more pixels packed in on the same amount of DX area than the Z8/9. There is little to gain by adding more pixels unless you plan on buying faster glass to make up for less light gathering capability.

I miss my little Z50 but maybe if they put in on sale I'll bite.

This one is not so little anymore. The Z50II has grown into almost a full frame body.

3mm taller . Exact same width . 7mm deeper due to the bigger grip . 🤷

@@SingleTrack66 Numbers are small but substantial in hand. For some people the bigger size is welcome too. Luckily it didn't gain weight too much.

No IBIS and only five DX Z mount VR lenses. Fujifilm is still the ASP-C king of the hill. Fujifilm SX-20, Pentax KF (weather resistant) and Olympus OM D cheaper or the same price with IBIS. 😮

I think the cameras you are mentioning are at a higher price point and have their own sets of challenges. Also, the top notch processor with all ai af detection modes and the tried and tested sensor and 10bit video features makes it a good choice for beginners/back-up camera. Also, the lens selection is far higher than a Pentax or Fuji as nikon has it's own line of z mount lenses even from fx line, f mount line along with the third party offerings . Overall I think nikon z50ii is a more balanced choice. The jack of all trades but master of none kind of camera. Fuji has improved af than before for your said model but is not much to mention. Pentax has it's own set of problems in this mirrorless world and lack of lens support, omd is good but good cameras from them to compare with z50ii will be priced higher. Just my opinion though based on my usage.

Why do you need your Z lenses to be DX ? If you ever want to up your game and get a Z9 Z8 Z6iii Z7ii then your DX lenses will not work full frame. The no IBIS argument is moot in a camera at this price. If you disagree I wonder why you are watching this video other than to pour salt.

Try z50ii autofocus then you'll know the difference.

All good, enjoy those systems, this review is about the z50ii, which might be attractive to many others ;) Great that there are options, hey.

The flip screen just really sucks, for photography needs. And even 20 Mp are not enough for nowadays needs! At last, It's actually too much expensive for what it offers.. It'll be good to buy used! D.
@luisp307412 күн бұрын
The flip screen might be an issue but 20.67 MP on a DX is equivalente to 48,3 MP in full frame. If you fill the frame with you shot you have an higher pixel pitch than with a Z8 or Z9. It all comes to your user case.

The Nikon Z50 II is a piece of garbage ahead of the Canon R7 which was released ~3 years ago. Where are the Z80 and Z90, have they lost their way?
@bsc00124 күн бұрын
For sure, one would expect the R7 at almost double the price ( at least in AU) vs the Z50II, should be a better camera. Perspective, please 🙏
@RPP403Ай бұрын
You try too hard to convince others to buy a camera you know is not even good by late 2024 expectations. Pathetic.
@bsc00124 күн бұрын
For many, it will, be the ideal camera. Maybe not for you, but for my wife and I, who have ~35 F- and Z-mount lenses between us, she would gain a lot using this Z50II, as opposed to her against D500. Horses for courses.
