Completely agree with your comment on hours. Refreshing to see an athlete with the knowledge of how his training works best for him. Too many coaches in too many sports at all levels try and push more hours of training or more metres done - in essence training for the sake of training, instead of training smart. It's not how much you train, but what you do in that training that makes you improve.

Im a lvl 7 mag gymnast, I love the sport. But I am the only one in my team who stayed in the sport, I won't give up just because everyone else is.

I am a coach for gymnastics and all this advice has been top notch for when I get my coaching badge and when I am fully qualified. Also, thank you for all these Road to Rio videos because it helps me with my assignments in college and gives me the knowledge for when I coaching.

Love the videos. Questions: -How much do you get paid? And is it those 15 guys on the national squad that you mentioned that are getting supported by the government? -What are your long term plans (5, 10 years from now)? -How do you decide which skills to work to add to your routines? Do you have an ideal ultimate set of skills you want on each event?

What would you consider some baseline levels of strength someone should aim for before learning real gymnastics movements? Example: 20 strict pull-ups, 2 minute wall handstand hold, 20 dips, 40kg weighted plank for 1 min, side plank with 20kg, back extension/arch up with 10kg for 20 reps, etc...?

Great video man! Can't wait for more. I just recently joined Ninja Gymnastics Hawaii and am doing pretty good. After day 1 I was hooked. So after completing this I am thinking of trying regular gymnastics. I am trying to cut down a lot. Any tips for big guys?

Thank you soo much for sharing your tips and thoughts!! Your analysis of your training is soo interesting and inspiring :-) . And by the way I'm finding your style very elegant and a lot more pleasant to watch than others (does this make any sense in the gymnast world?? )

As my career I would really like to do something related to sport but I'm not quite sure what yet (not athlete or coach). It would be really helpful if you could say who is involved in your success as an athlete like physio, nutritionist etc. Thank you in advance:)

How does the scoring work in gymnastics? How do you get points?
@jaspersmith-gordon40038 жыл бұрын
you get points for moves you do, if they are hard they are worth more than easier ones. in the routines you are marked out of ten on how well you do it and then you add on top the total worth of all the moves you did altogether.
