This was actually from 92', off the 'Broken' EP--which is amazing btw, you should definitely check out more from it PHM was 89'. But yeah, you're right, Trent was way ahead of his time. Been a big inspiration for my music (and countless others ofc) since I was a kid.

@@jommywop I adore that album and it's a personal album to me. I was just kinda thinking, and probably wrongfully so, that those might be easier for Jersh to "get into". Now, upon reflection...I feel it is wrongfully so. You can't take the NIN journey without starting at that massive landmark.

I can see how thoser albums might be a little more accessible. The Fragile was the first NIN album I really listened to. I was late to the party I guess

This isn't from PHM though, it's from Broken... If you want your mind blown listen to PHM, and as you listen to it realize he recorded the entire thing by himself in his 20's while he was working as a night janitor in a studio. The man is the avatar of a synthesizer.

As for the video, the full Broken video for the EP is still around here. It's basically a snuff movie (a fake one of course) with all the songs and the finale ("Gave up") was re-filmed afterwards in studio with Marilyn Manson to avoid some other contreversies.
@gigachad1924 жыл бұрын
More NIN please. Some suggested songs: Mr. Self-Destruct, Ruiner, Somewhat Damaged, The Line Begins to Blur, Discipline, All Time Low, Less Than. These are the more accessible songs and if you like them you’ll be able dive deeper into discography full of amazing stuff.

Jersh: "....this is 1989!" exactly man...this is why NIN has such a die-hard fan base.....he's legit, and has been ahead of the sonic curve for decades.

The Broken EP release was in 1992. What he read was the release date for Pretty Hate Machine which was a massive game changer of an album but did not feature this track on it.

"I want my epitaph to say 'Trent Reznor - died, said 'Fist-fuck' in a song and won an award for it" - Trent Reznor
@darkchiron4 жыл бұрын
Trent Reznor is eccentric, and a musical genius. Regarding the lyrics in this song, Trent has famously joked that he wants his epitaph to read: "REZNOR: Died. Said 'fist fuck' and won a Grammy.". He's been well recognized for his talent for his whole career. The live DVD they released called "And All That Could Have Been" is an amazing concert video. You could do almost any song from that and have a good time. If you want some more, and you should, give "Terrible Lie" and "We're in This Together" a try.

And honestly...I would be sooo freakin pumped to see you react to tracks 3 and 4 off of the 'Left Disc' of The Fragile...the tracks bleed into one another, The Frail being sort of a preamble to The Wretched...easily some of my all time favorite NIN. (M)TR got alot of flack over his first studio album Pretty Hate Machine from the industrial crowd, for being too pop and whiny.
