To correct some of the comments: The Song was written by the Gibbs (Bee Gees) initially in the style of and for Otis Redding. unfortunately Ottis died in a plane crash before recording it. the Bee gees recorded and released it and then a number of good artist gave their version of it. For me, the best one is Nina Simone's (this one). I always wonder how Ottis would have rendered it.

This is one of those tracks that I can listen to 6 times in a row without it getting stale. And I often have. There was a point in my life when this was crucial to getting through my day. The sound mix is great and the drumming is superb. I can't remember ever hearing better drumming on any recording that might be considered a rock track. Nina Simone comes from jazz, but I would put this in rock for lack of a better category. I learned about this version from a story on This American Life on NPR. Someone had left his car out on the street for a long period while he was away. He came back to find that it had been broken into and apparently slept in- he assumed by a homeless person. The temporary resident left some odds and ends behind him when he left, and one of them was a mix tape. So the car's owner decided to play the mix tape- this was the first track I think. At any rate, it was played as the outgoing music for the story and I took notice. Soon it was downloaded and became part of my life. So thank you, anonymous homeless person. You changed my life.

Peace, When I think of this I go back in time to thinking of my guys growing up in the hood on the south side of Chicago. Not realizing that some of them wouldn't even see a prom or the legal age to drink. No clue but when I hear this I reminisce of them and I thank my Creator for the gift of memory. If you got a friend, lover, sister, brother, parent or whoever is in your life or impacted you positively look to the Heavens and smile in their memory.

You are right. They are the only artists ever to write and produce six consecutive number ones in the USA. During that same period, they also wrote and produced three straight chart-toppers for their brother, Andy. They are the only group to ever have five songs simultaneously in the US top 10. They rank 3rd in groups for the most hot 100 number one's in history. As of 2013, the Bee Gees had sold over two hundred million records, placing them in the top 10 of best selling artists of all time. And they wrote hits for other musicians as well. They were an incredible band.
