How about making stricter rules so that they stop trying to get in the illegal way. If they know before entering the boat that there is 110% chance no matter what their reason is that they will be sent back home if they go the illegal way then build more legal ways on the other side to organize the chaos(yes it costs money but is there a price tag on a humans life?). Make crossing with a boat a 100% card to be sent back home and people will stop drowning.
@mysterioanonymous3206
@mysterioanonymous3206 Жыл бұрын
ah yeah? How hasn't anyone thought of that? But wait... they did. And everyone involved in this knows the legal situation exactly, unlike you unfortunately. So for one, immigrants normally burn their passports, if they had one to beginn with, and instantly turn into so called "sans papiers", meaning they can not be repatriated since their origin can not be identified. They just all say they're minors from Afghanistan. Add to that the reluctance of states to comply with repatriation and the legal right to challenge the decision of your asylum application first through administrative process and then several levels of court (municipal, state, federal, then EU human rights court, then international human rights court) that can easily take up to 20 years or more (yes, you read that right, and its all on taxpayers bill), you find yourself in a complete and utter impossibility of repatriating any meaningful numbers of illegals. And that's why you see an increasing number of pushbacks. And there you go. You're welcome.

@@T.efpunkt Nobody is destroying Pakistan ,Bangladesh or Egypt, they are doing a good job without out side help. I don't suppose you think that their population explosion, has any thing to do with their problems; Nah! I thought not . In 1960 Africa with an area of about 30 million square km population was around 284 million, to day is 1BILLION 340 MILLION. In 1960 Europe with an area of about 4 and a half million square Km the population was around 600 million, to day stands at 742 million, but that includes more than 50 million immigrants. If we acted like them the population would be 3 BILLION 500 MILLION, there would not an inch of soil left to grow food, and the migration would flow the opposite direction, but co ahead and continue to regurgitate the same lame excuses, that will surely solve the problem.

Well, according to testimonies of the survivors, they saw the boat only when they were boarding, and when they asked to stay on land they where held at gunpoint.and I agree, the smugglers must be at least jailed for life both in their countries and where they might end up in. But it's clear that they are not facing the law where they operate, and the best case I'd that the arrival country can arrest their captains or their thugs, but the bosses never board these vessels.

@@annipetratos9401 obvious distress and declared distress are different things. "Obvious" is unfortunately a matter of interpretation of whoever is in charge of search and rescue. In general in international waters obvious distress is considered a situation where the boat is sinking and can therefore no longer communicate with the authorities to declare emergency. Unfortunately the people in charge of the boat are the smugglers and to intervene without their cooperation in area where you dont have legal juristiction to enforce an intervention is problematic to say the least and the rescue attempt can actually become the cause the of sinking of a boat that for all its problems is not actually sinking at the time.

It wouldn't have mattered either way. You saw how packed the deck was. The moment the ship went down, it caused a vacuum and most of them drowned anyway. The hundred-odd people that survived must have jumped off board and swum a fair distance away in time.

That guy got an asylum in Germany for what exactly? Not safe for him but safe for his wife? Can we compare the numbers of asylum seekers per country? It is obvious that this guys don't seek "safe places" but much better paid jobs. Wanting to have a better life, or at least a better paid job is a normal thing, but we must separate people that NEED HELP from people that lie to fill their pockets. Is it racist to want to protect my job, by friends job, my neighbors quality of life, our values, or even our property values?

Yes, Eu can stop this. First 2 steps is to decouple from US and prevent European oligarchs from exercising their covert influence over domestic politics. Most importantly - NEVER again support efforts to destabilise (regime change) in non western countries and instead “help” them to rebuild and thrive. Then people wouldn’t have the need or incentive to leave their countries and illegal immigration would cease to exist……

Of course EU countries, and indeed all other countries, can fix this! All it takes is to upgrade the embassies to actually become a true part of their countries. A part where all the visa and asylum matters can be handled directly, and the proper transport can be arranged. Don't forget, that those people now being killed by human traffickers, have paid a lot (more often than not much more than $10k). Even ten of those together can easily pay for a government or chartered plane to pick them up, and safely transport them to their destination. I think I can call this the US way, at least that's how it seemed to have worked when I was young. With the majority of the employees at the embassy being recruited from native speakers, that can properly inform the applicants and find all the needed information, rather than outdated politicians from home, it'll be far easier to handle everything. DUH! It'll cost far less, than now, when government agencies at home are trying to sort things out, often having to use translators, while the immigrants have to wait, often for years, for a decision to be made if they can stay or have to go.
