Though I hate the ear-piercing ringing that overwhelms the track near the end, I honestly can't say I would want to listen to this song without it. It's painful, but necessary - the dissonance between the dark, plodding undertones and the gentle, childlike innocence of the keys, slowly being interspersed with moments of a noise so piercing it makes your ears ring. It tells its own little story, a war between lost innocence and pain so excruciating it drowns everything out into the worst sort of static there is. You can feel your entire mind gradually come apart at the seams as the emotions crescendo, as the pain becomes nearly too much and you do whatever you can to drown it out. And then it stops, the tension finally released in one final snap. You can feel the echo of it linger, surrounded by the pain and agony that resulted from the fallout of your actions, but the relief you feel from that agony is hollow. You're left broken, not even the gentle undertones of an innocence you desperately want back remaining - it's out of reach, now. You're too far gone in this pain. All that's left is you, broken and alone, with the mistakes you've made. Maybe there's a light at the end of this tunnel, but right now, all you see is darkness.

@JoshuaWilliams-dk1hz4 жыл бұрын
When I hear these things I wonder how intentional they are. As you grow older, and especially after blasting out your ears from over 30ish years of performing in loud stadiums you not only lose hearing but also specific frequencies, especially those in the ultra high range. So it wouldn't be completely out the realm of possibility that Trent doesn't even realize it has this ultra high pitch sound...doubtful but possible :P
