Wow this episode was amazing and puts last week's episode in even better perspective. They are making fun of streaming, corporate diversity, our documentary culture, 90s black culture, how ppl put too much into analyzing entertainment, video essays.....just amazing. It works on so many levels if you are black/white/whatever. This is great tv and wonderful to see Sinbad!

Really interested in how the lake episode last week and goofy hat from Amsterdam last season will be put in perspective before the season ends.

So funny watching Nine google the T2/Rodney King thing while Money is talking. He's just up there on his corner of the screen, eyes wide, mouth open, staring at his computer in disbelief.

The FX content hub on Hulu is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. In New Jazz, Alfred notes a man with a Goofy cap outside a doorway, convulsing and weeping profusely. Darius warns Alfred not to be like the man. What’s up with the drawing of the Purple Rain era Prince with a dove on his shoulder? Is it a coincidence that Prince mentored Tevin Campbell and elevated his career? I feel like I consumed a space cake, or I will need to consume one to fully understand this season. I ❤️ u NINE! Proceed with your research on this episode/season you genius!

Damn talk about not judging a book.....bruh....didn't think for 1 second you were anything other than straight white male. Thanks for sharing. This show really does bring ppl from all over together. Cool to see such a diverse panel discussion.

would you take the breakdown the same coming from a straight white male?

I looked it up and it's true that Walt Disney literally called Goofy a dim witted country N-word

If NINE has beef with Disney now, he needs to wait until he tries to upload his breakdown of this episode 😭😭😭

Not sure if this is know in general but the Goofy Movie is adored in the black community and is seen as an African American movie. I was never into that movie but at the time it was a big deal, so this mockumentary was spot on. "That's not how you draw a dab!"🤣🤣

From ‘Song Of The South’ in 1946 to ‘A Goofy Movie’ in 1995, Disney ‘s racism has been consistent. A black Ariel will solve everything 😂 🧜♀️

this episode was so good and the broken laugh sent me back to a wild video a friend showed me of goofy in court after mass killing people and the goofy laugh in that was shuttering

In each episode critical of main steam culture all of our main cast (IRL) has succeeded in areas that seem unavailable in the show. Donald glover has a show under Disney and 5 grammys. B.T.H ON BROADWAY but putting on the hood persona. Lakieth dancing for RUN the Jewels ( he is fake bad dancing) and Zazie Beetz a SUPER HERO..... even Lottie pretending to act on a set for the first time. Crazy meta

The spook who sat by the door was pulled from theatres because the FBI was scared it was too radical. Barack is also mixed race and kin to many of the presidents. That handshake is a secret society reference. Super convenient that the guy dies out of nowhere right before they pick Thomas. They only find goofy items and no body for Tom so pretty sure that's not by accident. Tom had made a lot of deals also seems to be an important detail.

I feel like this is a play on John Singleton. He made several black movies in the 90s and then died during the filming of Snowfall which exposed the governments and cartel involvement in bringing drugs and guns in the black community.

Nooooo spook is a racial slur from waaaay back!
@derspenc2 жыл бұрын
It wasn't until World War II that spook started to refer to black people. The black Army pilots who trained at the Tuskegee Institute were referred to as the "Spookwaffe" - waffe being the German word for weapon, or gun. (Luftwaffe was the name of the German air force). Once the word "spook" was linked to blackness, it wasn't long before it became a recognizable - if second-tier - slur.

The bowtie thing maybe have been partly an Ahmad White callback but it's definitely also, given the context, a Nation of Islam reference.

S/o to you for the special guest. As someone who appreciates your work, I too would like to hear you break this show down with a Black person who understands the nuances of our culture as someone who experienced it first hand, and didnt study it. Black Twitter dissected the Goofy movie years ago, and this was Glover’s spin on that convo. Spook who sat by the door is a common African American saying based on the film adapted from the book by Stan Green Lee. Its sprinkled in convos by us frequently. Atlanta’s Black AF, and having another Black person goes a long way for your Black audience.
