I just love how instead of being "I used to be a nerd, but now I'm awesome" they're more like "I used to be a nerd, and I still am, but in an awesome way"
@lucascyr986 жыл бұрын
Floris Bordewijk My thoughts exactly. The song isn't saying "I used to be a nerd but now I'm better", therefore implying that there is something wrong with being a nerd. Its saying "I used to be a nerd who didn't feel like I fit in with anybody, but now I've accepted who I am and found people who understand me"

I said it on the original video and I'll say it hear as well: This song genuinely hits home really hard for me (and I'm sure many others agree). Even though I'm 22 and still going through my seemingly never-ending awkward phase, it was nice to hear this song and know that it exists. Danny is genuinely a rockstar (Brain too), but he is the best one out there because he is willing to unabashedly expose the aspects of his personality that don't match up with the stereotypical image we associate with that profession. I hope lots of younger nerds out there hear this song and see that they can still kick so much ass, no matter how weird they feel.

The first time I watched the music video, I cried my fucking eyes out. I've always felt like I was cast out from the normal crowd, that I didn't fit in because I was nerdy, and I got picked on and ignored a lot. This song made me feel so understood, recognized, and validated. I felt empowered, like I, too, CAN succeed, despite all the troubles I've been through. I've listen to the song on repeat since release, probably at least 200 times, and I can't help but feel super emotional every single time. If Danny can cry, so can I. Also, the song was added to Spotify recently. Enjoy!

When I was in middle school, I had like two 'friends' who hung out with me just because none of us wanted to be alone in middle school. I had delusions of grandeur, wanting to start a PMC of my own, and eventually start a military nation-state funded by war as a business. Every so often, the three of us would wear camouflage to school, and they'd call me 'General' while I'd call them my 'Lieutenants'. Most people gave absolutely no fucks, but after two years, some people were afraid of us. They weren't afraid of us becoming successful, they were afraid we were the ones who were going to snap and shoot up the school. I got expelled in 8th grade, literally after one week because I had a book called Caliban Cove, and on the cover, there was a character- a police officer- holding a handgun. This spread and evolved into me having a gun in my locker, and when the resource officer was informed, I was hauled out of class in handcuffs, my locker- which was empty because I could never get the damn lock to open- and my backpack were searched, and when they found nothing, they said the cover art of my book violated the Zero Tolerance policy against firearms, and I was expelled. Middle school is a weird time to be alive. Everyone is awkward, whether they want to admit to it or not.

I know this video is over 3 months old, but i still watch it all the time.The mesh of Danny's magnum opus and jason paradise is so perfect. My family has always been very conservative christian and have extreme expectations for me. I moved out 3 months ago just 3 days after turning 18. My parents were somewhat very minorly helping me with food, gas, etc. However, about a month ago my parents caught me smoking weed with my medicard. I later came out to them as gay. They have completely disowned and I no longer have a family. It's really nice to know that both bands like nsp, and channels like yours jason exist to continue to give me support and remind me that I'm not the problem, and will always have tons of people on my side. Idk if youll ever even see this comment, but if you do, I want you to know that you are a reason that someone who has nothing can find a reason to wake up every morning and try. I'm not too good with words, but I hope you know just how much you and your community means to me.

Damn dude. I can't even bring a sentence together to express how sad that makes me feel. If I may, your family sounds ignorant and cruel. If only they could let go of your politics and religion for one moment and truly realize what's important in their lives. If they ever truly loved you and it wasn't just an illusion, hopefully they have or someday will realize their mistake and come crawling back to you on their knees begging for your forgiveness. Depends on how close you were with your family. Stay strong my man, you'll be okay :)

In middle school I was actually shoved INTO my locker. Like in those old tv shows. I’d go home with a new bruise on my arm pretty much all the time. I’m 21 now, and I can certainly say I’ve found my tribe! LETS GO GAMERS! WOOOOO! 22 now and still here. Love you Jason!

no matter how many NSP songs i’ve heard, hearing a new one for the first time always forces tears, and this song forces those tears every time. gg for playin it, and rock on, nerds everywhere!
