How nature self organized all this immense microscopic complexity with such specific function is impossible to understand. Just goes to show that intelligence in a much broader sense goes way way beyond what we narcissistically attribute to ourselves.

Hello, I would like to say your video was very helpful on this topic, however, I was in an oral exam couple of days ago, and talked on conjugation. I would therefore like to point out, that when a sex pilli Is formed to transfer DNA, to the recipient cell, the sex pili is not "a tube" where DNA is transferred. It simply acts as a pulling device, to attract the other cell, so there celler walls absorbed each other on one end. Hereby, genetic material is transferred, and not via the tube like you mentionend.

I would think that these processes in many instances could work to make bacteria less rather than more virulent even to make them commensals to enhance their survival by not killing their host or even making their presence known, perhaps this is part of the underlying mechanisms of the so called healthy gut biome.
