Or. Apply isopropyl alcohol to the contacts on the sd and insert it into the 3DS while powered off. Unplug it and reinsert it again, for a total of 3 times. Now, remove card, dry it and then wait for the slot to also dry. Insert it, power it on. If it still doesn’t work, then you can disassemble. But your first step should never be disassembly.

I kind of have a similar problem I just bought a 3DS it works great and everything including the SD card reader but recently the SD card reader just stopped working every time I put an SD card in it just says making a home for SD card data if I clean the SD card reader with that fix it or do I have to replace it entirely? Please let me know

I think I ended up tearing one of the pins out from inside the card reader since I got something stuck there while trying to figure out what was wrong, is that fixable with a new card reader? (Since I just ordered one)

Correct. This cleaning of the pins has nothing to do with write protection on the SD card
