I always buy physical because I’m from the era of big box pc games. I’m 39. The 1990s were my era. However, I modded my switch so it can play backups. There’s an app I use called Gamecard Dumper that dumps my physical cartridge on my Switch so I get the best of both worlds. I don’t have to wear out the pins on my cartridge or Switch and I get a digital version at no extra cost. Obviously I could also play pirated games but I don’t do that. I want to support the developers otherwise we won’t get games in the future.

Agreed. I don’t feel like I actually own a game unless I have a physical copy of it. I always buy the physical copy even if it is cheaper to buy it digitally.

yup I only buy physical unless its a new indie title or something that doesnt have a physical release, I also like still getting dvds/bluray especially for anime seasons

I say they both have pros and cons. One advantage to digital over physical, is that if the copy were to be damaged, you can't replace it, unlike digital, which you can download as many times as you want. On the other hand, if your digital copy were to get terminated, due to the publisher losing rights over the distribution of said media, or even servers being terminated (like the recent 3DS) you can no longer find it available in the e-store. Just examples of extreme circumstances that would give credit to each option IMO.

I get it. It's nice to have the games in case they get taken down or whatever but there's something to be said about having them all on one console and no need to carry games with you on the go

Even if I paid for Internet, I go to my brother's when needed I still would buy a tangible, solid game, since '91. Feels way better man..❤

I’ll always be for physical media! It’s simply future proof. Thanks to that format you still can buy Pokémon Emerald, regardless the price. Good luck trying to download any game from 3DS era

@@hikmhshm9255 you can make multiple copies. I would store the game on hard disk though especially for longterm storage. SD cars are still volatile they can fail even when not in use. I know from experience.

I buy both but when it's something like mario, Zelda or a Playstation exclusive like TLOU I always buy physical. The main reason I'm against digital is because at any time you can lose access to movies, games and other media. In digital you don't own the product but you buy the license to be allowed to use that product.

If Nintendo did a standalone digital only, “ non switch” console that catered exclusively for its back catalogue consoles eg. GB, GBA, NES, SNES, N64 etc with an eshop “ Netflix” monthly subscription like Apple Arcade it will literally be an absolute game changer

With blu-rays the physical at least version comes with a huge Quality increase over Streaming movies. In that case it's a Quality vs Convenience comparison. There is no quality increase in Physical vs Digital Switch games, it's there for collectors and futureproofing from potentially losing a digital purchase years later (same with blu-rays), however digital has the convenience factor. Some collectors buy both Digital and Physical (keep wrapped up) to get the best of both worlds.

I have mixed feelings on this I like my physical copies for the game that I really love, but I also really love the convenience of having the games ready to go on my console. Another thing is physical games get better sales than digital more than half the time.

I've been heard and read a really awesome News about of the New Upcoming games like a new Mario&Luigi and Mario Party games coming to the Nintendo Switch and Square Enix is working Games with the Nintendo Switch 2, because of that I hope to see these Square Enix games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2: Kingdom Hearts 3&4 and Final Fantasy VII Remake&Rebirth maybe? 😊❤

And that's why i decided to stick with Nintendo as my main console and skip the Xbox and PS for PC handheld but i'm for the battery to improve on those devices. I hope we won't have cartridge size issues on the next Switch so that everything fits in there...Later

I like both physical and digital. For games I know I want to collect like pokemon games for example, always physical. If its a game I know I will play once and probably never again, or if its a repurchase of a game that I own on other consoles but isnt cross-play (like stardew) then I go digital

Its not just it being "unavailable" in the future but the fact that several companies have full blown deleted games/books/movies etc. off of accounts and then lied and claimed the people never bought it but could now for an even greater price. Mask ROM caps out at 512 MB. Nintendo Switch cartridges use hybrid-Flash ROM to facilitate larger game sizes, which will eventually fail -- potentially in as little as 20 years, which is the lifespan according to Macronix at any rate.

@@EarnestGamer : Optical discs, provided there are no manufacturer defects and they are properly cared for, can last for about 100-150 years. Mask ROM -- which is what game cartridges used in the 80s and 90s -- can last for several hundred, if not thousand years. And that's really what I'm getting at here: Don't expect Switch cartridges to last as long as NES or SNES games.

I think if gamefreak sticks to their schedule, Gen 10 is next year, 2025, hopefully they finally delay the games so it comes out later, present me will be sad over lack of content, future me will be happy and excited for a hopefully great game, so definitely a W in long term

The fear of servers going down doesn't bother me. I'm still watching iTunes movies I bought twenty years ago. If these servers go down, it's probably due to some cataclysmic event and playing video games will not be my top priority 😆

Nintendo is the only platform where I buy physical. Not all the time but some games need to be physical, like Zelda. PlayStation I never buy physical, I now have a digital PS5 but even on PS4 I hadn't bought a physical game for years.
