When you think about playing games back then and consuming ALL content in SD on CRTs, it does make sense though. I imagine NFL looked very similar to the madden games in that era when you think about it like that.

A better example comes soon after that with Rogue Squadron 3 Rebel Strike. Not only does it look exactly like the movies, the game is also literally using the same 3D models from the special edition versions of the movies.

The Pre Reggie Era was a weird one. Nintendo has indeed gotten better with presenting. No longer do they mention their weaknesses or much at all about what their competition is doing. So much fumbling through words. Iwata was also wrong about games not looking any better. But who would've anticipated the rise of HD. I miss the Gamecube and it's software. Nice blast from the past.

It really sucks that the Gamecube wasn't as commercially successful as they wanted, because it is a GREAT console, especially on the software front. Metroid Prime is one of the best games to ever come out on a Nintendo console. RE4 to this day is considered one of the best games of all time, and it was a timed exclusive for Gamecube. To this day, Wind Waker is considered to be one of the best games in the Zelda franchise. Super Smash Bros Melee was also a big deal. If I had a choice between XBOX or Gamecube, I'd be Gamecube all day. XBOX had Halo 1/2 and the online multiplayer scene around that, but that was basically it. Gamecube had a lot more variety of high quality exclusive titles.

Nintendo would be completely different if it sold the most in that generation. For example the wii would of never existed or now the switch wouldn't exist. After GC they decided that being a powerful system(lost to Sony weaker systems twice) isn't working and they need to work on innovation.

If you think XBOX was all about Halo and its online multiplayer, then you're really missing out my friend. There was a lot more to XBOX than just that. Crimson Skies is a classic and amazing game, you had Jet Set Radio Future, Project Gotham one of the coolest racing games ever, Ninja Gaiden, DOA3, Panzer Dragoon...
