There's more to that Spyro escort mission. There's a follow up mission that requires you to have learned a certain move. If you don't have it yet, when you exit the level and come back you have to repeat the escort mission again.

I was playing Spyro 2 on the Reignited Trilogy, and for a big more context, if you're trying to 100% the levels the first time you do them before you go to the next world, the move you need is in the next world. So, this will absolutely happen if you're trying to complete everyone 100% on your first time through taking it one level after the other. Still have to repeat it in the reignited version when you come back, too.

@@fizzowop6190 It's a faithful remake. Veterans know to skip it and come back. It's not the only mission you can't 100% the first go around. Lot of levels need climb in the first world and you don't get climb til the second.

This is the the first time I've ever heard people say the controls are bad. I've always considered sunshine to basically be the gold standard for 3d platformer controls. Do people really think it's bad? Like, have they PLAYED IT?

Mario sunshine's difficulty is inconsistent af you bounce from "baby's first game" to "get fucked lmao" Personally some levels stressed me out way more than Sekiro ever did, especially with the clown horns playing every time you lose dealing actual psychological damage.

When I first played Sunshine after having played Galaxy 1 and 2 my whole life and played some Mario 64 through...legally questionable means lol, my immediate initial reaction to Sunshine's controls was "whoa, what, this feels weird." I thought it felt kinda strange, twitchy, and janky, and overall less polished than I was expecting or used to from the other games, except for the Hover Nozzle, that felt exactly how I expected it to and was great. I tended to slip around weirdly and bump into janky collisions and all that. Even the way Mario ran, accelerated, turned, and stopped felt kinda strange and less polished than the other games. But that was my _initial_ reaction. I eventually got used to it and the controls now feel great, there's still some janky moments here and there but overall it's really fun and feels mostly really good now; the moveset you get in the game is just insane, even if it's pretty different from the other analog 3D Mario games' movesets (64, Galaxy, and Odyssey) outside of a handful of returning moves. And FLUDD just makes it even crazier.

Zelda II had Darknuts and Fokkas. Probably the two hardest enemies I’ve ever fought. No avoiding them either. They will chase you down and harass you while you’re trying to break down blocks to leave

Probably a bunch of NES games, too many to list, but under the assumption that it HAS to be at least Nintendo published and/or developed, I'd have to say F-Zero GX is up that. That game is RIDICULOUSLY hard and I love it for it. The difficulty curve may as well be a brick wall and the game won't let you get away with it.

The problem with Dreamcast was that Sega of Japan was slamming through consoles when they should have taken time to recoup after the Saturn. Which they would have done if they had listened to the guy they *specifically sought out* to help make Sega succeed. But he was American so clearly he had no idea what he was talking about. Despite being behind fucking BARBIE.

I had an N-Gage, I remember some of the games not being all that bad. However it was awful at being a phone lmao. I dunno if there are any but look up how you had to hold it to talk to someone on the phone and try to imagine the embarrassment. Personally I would say the Saturn had more of a hand in almost killing Sega than the Dreamcast.

Coney's info about piracy on the Dreamcast is wrong. I know because we played pirated games on the Dreamcast: We had to use a boot CD before putting in the pirated game. Much more complicated!

It's crazy for me seeing Tropical Freeze instead of Returns. Returns had tons of actually hard extra levels and the time-trials where much more brutal than Tropical Freeze. I love TF and it's honestly a better game but in case of difficulty/challenge, Returns should be way higher

So the reason naughty dog changed Jak into a GTA clone wasn't just to ape it but because the first game did not succeed as much as it should have. A new generation of gamers was joining the hobby and they were looking for "mature games for mature gamers like themselves". Platformers in general kinda ate shit throughout the mid-2000s because of this.
