Just a slight correction. New joycons bought separately from the system only have a 3 month warranty. The shortest time I’ve ever had a joycon drift is conveniently about 4.5 months. I’ve went through 3 sets in a about 2 years. (I’m currently on my fourth pair.) meaning joycons on average only last me 6 months.

Not only did Nintendo’s warranty expire, but Walmart’s warranty despite not expiring, refused to listen. So no, I’ve never been able to get Nintendo to help with any product and despite having every console and handheld since the GBC, I never felt like I needed them too. Sure my DS hinges broke after a while, but I’d already moved onto my DSlite, and eventually DSI.

A while ago I was on vacation with my extended family, and there was a little kid there who really took a liking to me because we both had switches and played BOTW. He asked for help when it came to beating a Hinox, and when he handed me the controls, I was baffled at what he had been working with this whole time: Max drift. A lot of my friends own switches with drifty cons, but this was unreal. It was literally as if someone was pushing the joy stick to the left as far as possible the entire time. He didn't seem to have an issue because he was too young to understand that controllers shouldn't work that way, but it made me a bit sad.

[ Oml ikr like my brother plays fortnite and one time he got so angry he threw the mouse at the computer and broke it and that same night I needed to print something for a school project but I couldn’t bc he broke it. Emerson Fleming my brother got drift in a week, nintendo didn’t even fix the issue with the switch lite. I used to be a hardcore Nintendo fan, owned most of their consoles, many, many games and bought everything at launch, but the joycon drift is seriously an issue. A 3 year old console can’t fix a problem that many people have. The switch could probably be the best console out of ps4 and xbox, but with drift it’s put down. It has so much potential with the great games but that’s a big problem. Not gonna stop me from loving my switch ❤️

Same. I've kept my Wii since launch a decade ago and have never had problems with any of the remotes or nunchucks _to this day._ My decades old Gamecube controller(s) still work almost perfectly. I didn't get a Switch until last December, and my Joy-cons started drifting 3 months later. I'm lucky it's only my right Joy-Con, but still, playing BOTW is a bitch when you're just trying to shoot an arrow and the camera just jolts up and down without warning whenever it very well pleases.

Wii suffers from problems with the Disc Drive because of the poor choice to not cover that area to prevent dust from getting in. GameCube Sold Fine, just it deserved to sell so much better than it did. Also Loli you're statement is obviously a lie as the Wii hasn't even been out for 13 years yet, even then there was a full year in which it was hard to get them.

Arlo was bang on in this video, it’s exactly how I feel about this joycon/Switch situation. Especially the example of the little boy and his broken joycons. I’ve been in many online conversations where Nintendo apologist just blindingly refuse to believe there is anything wrong with the way Nintendo is handling the issue, or if it’s not happened to them the problem doesn’t exist and we must be all lying. It's kind of a tough pill to swallow that I need to send them in for repairs for a problem I had no hand in creating.

@@LashknifeTalon I feel you. When it first started happening to me last year (coincidentally, after the warranty was up) I stayed on the line with Nintendo of America for about an hour. They were going to do it for free for me, but I didn't have a printer, and I also thought it was silly to wait two weeks. In addition to the drift, my left Joycon ended up straight up just not working. It wouldnt even register in handheld mode when connected to the system and the little lights stopped lighting up. I ended up getting a replacement left Joycon, and both of my Joycons have it now. I just use my two pro controllers. :\

Not gonna lie, as much as I hate the drifting, it is pretty entertaining just to see how far he walks in a direction by himself. It's even more entertaining to use the camera stick to control where he goes, cause he will always walk left, so you can use the camera stick to change where "left" is. It's a good way to get a little fun out of a frustrating situation. You know, when you aren't around monsters.

I've had this problem before and I fixed it by swapping out the joystick for a new one I got off amazon. The whole process was pretty painless and tbh I don't see many people struggling with this method of repair with a quick little youtube video to guide them but I agree whole-heartedly that this shouldn't have to be something we have to go through at all.

This idea people have that Nintendo cares about them is so damaging. No massive company cares about their customers. People have played softball with Nintendo so the company thinks they can be lazy and cheap. Companies only seem to fix their attitude when customers revolt (happened with Sony during the cross-play thing) Yet Nintendo is still dragging their feet. They've yet to make official announcements about the repairs nor have their said they will redesign the joycons to be more durable.

I first noticed drift on my first joycons in BoTW, when Link started to move on his own while I was on top of a tower. He almost fell off... it’s sad that one of my most distinct memories of that game was discovering the awful drift issue, and not discovering something amazing in the game. Because I love Breath of the Wild endlessly.

However, I was waiting to get the Master Sword in Hard Mode until I was able to get the Skyward Sword Amiibo I wanted so I could pretend we finally got an HD remake of Skyward Sword. It took a while for me to get it, & because of the long time I went without playing the game, I completely forgot about my resolution & drew the Master Sword anyways. _But it was fine,_ I told myself, _I'll just wait to do The Trial of the Sword until I get the Amiibo._ A month & a half later, I finally had it. Took me a few days, but I had completed the outfit. At this time though, I had started to notice something happen during that long time of waiting. *_My Joycon was steadily drifting harder._* _It's fine, it won't be that big of a deal._ I had told myself. And at first, it *wasn't* a big problem. I had gone through just about all of the first trial just fine, in fact! *_But then I got to the Stone Talus._* I had him at one hit away from death, when the Joycon drifted me *_ever. so. slightly._* to the right, & I fell off of it right before I tried to swing. I don't remember exactly what happened afterwards, since this was about 5 months ago, but I died. And *_EVERY TIME AFTERWARDS,_* the Joycon drift would do something to fuck me over every attempt. I haven't gotten back to that Talus ever since, but as I'm typing this, I'm already starting up BotW to give it a shot with my fully functional wireless Gamecube controller.

The worst part is arlo made it sound even better than it was. Only joycons that come with a system have a 1 year warranty. All other joycon only have a 3 month warranty. So that kids warranty didn’t run out a few weeks ago. It ran out a little over 9 months ago. They’re basically admitting with that warranty that the product simply can not last.
