this is so huge wtf, it's hard to articulate how or what that does to somebody's consciousness but now that you've put a microscope on it I can feel it, how my whole childhood was interconnected by this lick. With all the other songs juxtaposed, the one from Pokemon DPP feels like a hub to my life, and this video itself cuts deep as it walks a straight line thru forgotten dreams

One of the very obvious ones is Undertale - Once Upon A Time I also didn't know people argued it was a Chrono Trigger thing. I thought it was obvious that Nintendo pioneered it with Zelda 1 and Mario 3

You're missing a key difference that separates the Mitsuda lick from the "Nintendo lick." The "Nintendo lick" starts with 2 notes going UP, then a leap of a minor 7th, and the famous chromatic fall. But the Mitsuda lick starts with 2 notes going DOWN, then a leap of a perfect 4th to the descending notes. In almost every instance you hear of people using the lick, if they're trying to invoke one of those 2, it's usually the Mitsuda lick.
