John, I just filled some small spots like the ones you filled on my Playchoice countertop. If you allow the Bondo to gel (about 15 minutes) you can then get a razor blade and slice the Bondo down nice and flush with your surrounding surface with no sanding! Worked well, I will be airbrushing the paint over to blend. Good video.

John, Next time , try temporarily installing the t-molding on the straight away , cut it, remove and move it over install the uncut portion over so you are on the straight away again . Rinse repeat and then install your new cut t-molding. This tool was clearly intended for straight counter tops. Awesome video John!

John how about measuring where your corners are going to be on the t-molding, and then putting those areas temporarily on a straight away--trim it and then pull back out and then put in proper spot it will be trimmed around the corners.
@Johnsarcade9 жыл бұрын
+ed baert Next video! I figured this out after. :)
@JesseH769 жыл бұрын
+ed baert That's what I was thinking, cut it all on the straight away. Hammer it in, cut, pull it out. Repeat until it's all trimmed down, then hammer all the t-molding in place.

+John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech And for reapplying the sideart, don't be afraid to mark some lines with a pencil. It can be cleaned up pretty easily. Pencil is a carpenter's friend for wood-like surfaces :)

John when using the t molding trimmer put molding on front of cabinet trim a few foot at time pull molding out slid up keep working small pieces till you get the entire length done it will take time but you will get the finish you want keep up the great work

Regarding that t-molding cutting tool problem with corners. Next time you could get a long piece of wood/plywood (or whatever cabinets are made of) with the same thickness as the sides of the Nintendo cabinet. Then you cut the exact measurments of the offset groove and then put the oversized t-molding on that, cut it with the tool, move the t-molding up, cut it some more, move it up, and then you have a pre-cutted t-molding ready to apply. You don't need to cut it on the actual cab, you're doing it on a long and straight piece of wood that's a replica of the sides of the Nintendo cab.

Lookin good, man! You've inspired me to clean up my conversion vs cab (dk blue) :)

In addition to what you did with the staples, I would have screwed and glued a piece of wood over the crack from behind (covering and reinforcing as much of the crack as possible without interfering with the mounting of the coin door).

Looks pretty sharp to me man. I'm looking forward to seeing what game it's going to end up being. I still fire up my old NES every once in a while. Never saw a vs. cab in an arcade though.

I used to work at a place that did custom vinyl graphics for cars and we made our own rapid-tac with water, rubbing alcohol and a drop of dishwashing detergent. I don't remember the proportions though.
@Chuck-RETROGAMECAVE9 жыл бұрын
John, I have to say.. I always thought you were saying "Wrap-Attack". I while back I figured out its really "Rapid Tac". I found it on Amazon. Its pretty easy to come by and there are lots of how to videos on this stuff. It appears guys who put art on cars, use Rapid Tac.

08:15 - from the feet, John, not from the back! Btw if you take an spatula to put off the rest of the bondo, you will get a nice smooth finish AND you dont have to use the towel. And there are a lot of spatulas on the market, each one for his own work/mission. I mean its true, you dont see the 2 cracks under the control panel when ur playing, but YOU KNOW they are there :-). I would have made them nice and smooth, but anyways, good work and I guess you motivate a lot of guys out there doing the same!

Just a thought. Could you have put it on a straight 5/8" board and trimmed it before installing?
@Scythe429 жыл бұрын
For the cutter thingie: Put on a few feet of t-molding on a long edge then cut it, then move the t-molding and cut the next few feet until you have the total length you need. Basically using the large edge of the cabinet as a guide for cutting. And why don't you put on the sideart when the cabinet is lying on its side? Way easier, as gravity is not working against you.

John, I'm a HUGE collector of the marquis IGT S2000/ I-game kits and into restoration. I have 2 IGT slot machines in my room and swap kits in and out of the machines all the time. If you want info on IGT, check out my channel. WMS/Williams is the current addiction. Tread lightly in this hobby, it can be as addicting as arcade games. Anyway, I'm in Boise, Idaho...maybe I'll see you guys at Grinkers this weekend! -Jason
