I honestly can’t wait for the new supports conversations we’ll get with this game. We might finally get the cut supports that Three Houses never got like Dorothea/Hilda and/or Marianne/Bernadette. Anna might actually get supports finally and be an actually good unit to use. I still have my doubts about this being a “golden” route considering how wildly different the characters appear and sound to be from Three Houses, I just hope the game is fun and the story is good.

Back here after the new trailer. It looks like Shez has the same markings on his face that Arval is shown to have. Either this means that he's also got ties to the Agarthans, or that he's fused with Arval at this point in the story (since Byleth has her green hair already).

@@JosepiThe13th "Arval" is what we're calling the Sothis counterpart, the one with the mostly-white design. The Japanese _Three Hopes_ Twitter profile posted an image of her with the name "Raruvu~a". Google Translate turns that into "Larva", but names don't always translate perfectly (see also "Fodra", the Japanese name for Fódlan). We suspect the English name will turn out to be something like Arval, which is also a word for a funeral feast.

A few things I'd like to point out: 1:01 - Slow down the video and pause, you can see Hilda blocking Dimitri's attack, standing below Claude. She has a new hairstyle and wielding her Relic. 1:06 Monica, obviously. But just in case you didn't recognise her. 1:15 Edelgard is fighting Judith (from the Leicester Alliance) for some reason 1:17 Dimitri is fighting Randolph I think? (From the Empire, he fights alongside Edelgard during the Monastery invasions) 1:32 If you pay attention to the weapon in this new character's right hand, it looks like they're wielding a Hero's relic or something similar. I could be wrong though. Can't wait for this game

Cute detail is that the breif image of Edelgard at 0:31 is from a cutscene available in the Demo with the notable exception that Shez is completely removed. If this is the only "sequel" or "golden route" for 3H, I'm totally on board with this. I'm glad to revisit this universe with this cast of characters again. And the voice acting was already 10/10 in 3H so I'm glad to see if they all return again for this game too. Basically, no downsides to this game. Edit: one downside. I prefer male Byleth design so I hope he's in the game too, and not just female Byleth only. But on the plus side, did I see my boy Hubert in the trailer?! And unlike the previous FE warriors game, it's tied to a single game and story so it makes sense that there aren't any characters from previous games. I wouldn't expect Lucina or Hector or Ephraim to show up in this particular game at all. And that's perfectly fine.

It also probably depends on the fanbase. I liked the FEW3H trailer because I saw it as a great successor to Age of Calamity, but I was mega hyped when I first saw that AoC trailer. Very, very high expectations considering no one expected a "prequel" (actually a sequel) to be made.

Reviewing this trailer after the second one, you can really get a bigger picture of the game's direction. At 0:36 the student edel is talking to is actually shez, so for academy arc we'll be enrolled as a student and Byleth may actually still be a teacher...

I doubt Byleth will take a "villain" role at all like some people have misinterpreted from the 2nd trailer. Based on events leading up to the time-skip (when Byleth's supposed to be absent), it's more than likely that Byleth will still have been scouted as a new teacher by Alois.

I'm personally of the opinion, *_if_* it's "revenge", that it won't end like Shez wants it to (might even be a "downer" ending where it's always *_Byleth's_* chosen army that wins, Shez being on the losing side).

This isn't confirmed to be a golden route at all though? You can see objectives in game if you side with Edelgard to capture Garreg Mach. Edelgard fighting Judith, Dimtri fighting Randolph. All the house leaders are playable despite being on opposing sides. Could still very well be multiple routes

But this time you'll have more power to change the outcome of more than just the current battle. This Is definitely going to be a golden route focused game. You can hear Sothis talk about using your newfound ability to change the outcome, for better or for worse. I also see Jeralt, and a much older Dimitri who doesn't look war broken/pessimistic with a missing eye, so things have/can clearly change based on your decisions.

@@lemonscaled4274 Ohhh, I think you may be confusing golden route in this context? A game can have multiple routes and still have a golden route. Even more than 1 golden route, depending on the game. This is common in visual novels where there are sub-routes. The fights/battles shown where you side with edelgard could still have a bad route where antagonists die, which would be indicative of the previous game's direction. BUT with what the trailer is teasing us with, it seems different, and that the player is given a lot more control over how they manipulate/change the character's story/actions. If you've ever played 999, or other visual novels where you can rewind to your last decision and change it so the story branches off to a new ending, im getting that sort of feeling from this game. If you Google image "vlr flowchart" thats what I mean. Im not so good at explaining lol! I wouldn't be surprised if there is a golden route for each major path tbh. But its all theory at the end of the day haha ^^;

@Ayjop I don't agree. Fates gets a lot of hate for its questionable writing but I don't think 3H is much better. I played only the Azure Moon route, which I heard was the best, and it really felt incomplete, it didn't happen to me with either Birthright or Conquest. Lots of things were left unexplained and I don't think any route should feel that way. Moreover, Corrin might be whiny and unlikable but at least he/she is a proper character instead of being another emotionless mute avatar that the story decided had to be important for some reason. When major antagonists died in Fates I knew who they were and what they wanted, their reasons and motivations, and I could even empathize with them. It wasn't the case in 3H. 3H recycles ideas from mostly FE4 and tries to pull off a multi-branch story but for what I hear the different routes are mostly the same, which is not the case with Fates. So I don't really get 3H fans who like to look down on Fates, both games are good and have strengths and flaws of their own. And that's only about Fates, I didn't even talk about Awakening or SoV.

The main appeal of the different routes is exploring character motivations and ideologies, which provides context to certain portions of the story not covered in specific routes. I.e. playing Crimson Flower makes Edelgard a more in-depth villain in other routes, which enhances the writing. The main theme of Three Houses is the value of perspective, and a lot of characters struggle from a lack of it. Many players seem to be just as close-minded too. *fake coughs*

I'm theorising that this AU might be what results if either: Byleth manages to use divine pulse during the war phase to actually travel back to pre-timeskip and takes actions to prevent the war happening Or Byleth manages to use divine pulse to successfully save Jeralt's life and that creates a massive butterfly effect (Byleth never chases Kronya down for revenge, never fights Solon, doesn't fuse with Sothis until later on, etc) Also! We see Hubert very clearly but I think there's also Hilda and Dedue in this as well very subtly. Hilda looks to be the one defending Claude from Dimitri with Friekugel at 1:01 and the scene where somebody's gauntleted hand covers Dimitri's gauntleted hand at 1:06 is probably Dedue (based on the size of the hand and colour of the armour) so that's cool! *Edited to include timestamps

Also I think it is still worth playing the other routes to get a full understanding of the story as each route doesn't tell you everything and you must peace the story together by playing each route and it also allows you to also see the different character interactions you missed in your first route

I loved the original Hyrule warriors, but so far haven't really gotten into age of calamity, it didn't grab me as much at first. I have only played 3H in terms of FE, so never bothered trying FE warriors. I'm still a bit in doubt about this one since I didn't like AoC as much on my first attempt, and I'm not sure if this will lean more towards AoC or Og Hyrule warriors🤔
