Fun thing I learned: Dogs will sneeze deliberately as a sign of being playful and that they mean no harm. So, in reality, I think Goldfish actually likes you.

@@littlekitsune1 Can confirm most breeders don't give a shit about vaccines other than the core one (and even then... often missing boosters...). Kennel cough is common and it's not going to stop them selling the pups lol. Good breeders are one in a million.

@@littlekitsune1 In 12 years working with dogs, I've met loads of breeders and there are only two - maaaybe three - that I would even recommend. None of them for popular breeds like Goldens. Usually those ones are trying to make a profit, so they cut corners as much as possible in care and even lie to their clients about vaccine status, deworming, etc, for a nice profit. On the flip side, I know one breeder who did Portuguese Water Dogs, she was amazing. She was retired and living on a pension so she gave all her time to the dogs and she spent all the money necessary on them. She did it out of passion, not for the cash. All her puppies were vaccinated, dewormed, and she even gives her dogs flea/tick/heartworm prevention (I have never met any other breeder who does this because it's a couple hundred dollars per dog per year). She decides which puppy goes to which person based on their personalities/lifestyle and if it's not a good fit she requires that the dog is given back to her. She keeps the dogs when they retire, spays them and gives them a good life (spent 3000$ on one retired dog who was sick, her prognosis wasn't even good, most breeders would have just euthanized her, but she saved her life all the same). She only has 2-3 breeding females at any given time and only has 1 litter a year so the females get a nice long break between litters. That breed is known for anxiety so she always enrolls them in education classes where they can meet all sorts of other people and other dogs and be well socialized. I doubt I'll ever meet another breeder like that!

Good call on not having a dog around an open fire. My neighbours had a dog, two years old and they were playing fetch with him. They also had a bonfire going at the time. Anyway, the ball went into the fire and in followed the dog. Dog never came out, was way too hot for anyone to reach him because he had sprinted head first into it. So poor guy burned to death. Anyway the point is don't play with a dog around fire.

Hey Kevin, awesome that you want to give a dog a home. I really can recommend visiting some nearby shelters. You often can find purebreds there, if that is what you're looking for. Or a different breed/mix that has the exact personality and traits you want. Friendly and average activity level dogs like Retrievers are to be found loads at shelters. You can get to know the different dogs, without any responsibility yet. And also walk your dog of choice as often as you want before deciding over an adoption. I live with rescues and shelter dogs for almost two decades now and it is awesome to know that you helped a dog in need.

This problem persists throughout their bodies, which makes them highly susceptible to painful arthritis, hearing problems, and other health issues. As a loving cat owner, please never support the breeding of Scottish folds. They are essentially the pug of cats. A plain-ol domestic shorthair can be just as cute *and* leagues healthier and happier.

@@12ush. Happy to spread it! People are starting to learn more about the bad sides of dog breeding (like with the aforementioned pugs) but in general don't know nearly as much about cat breeds. In part because historically it was never that much of a deal and 95% of cats in America are domestic shorthairs (which is just a fancy way of saying mutt). Buuut unfortunately we humans have really screwed up some breeds 😥 I can say that I got my kitty for free when my old roommate found him on the street as a kitten, and he is the sweetest, cutest, funniest little boy I could ever have asked for. Also, yyep. Goldendoodles are priiicey but I love them so muuuch ❤❤
