I've caught a Lugia with a pokeball, no attacks were thrown, it was the very first action. I've noticed that Pokeballs have a higher rate at catching Legendaries in the Silver and Gold.

the unique thing was that since there were no heartscale, the exclusive Pokemon only new its signature move. In Crystal, neither knew their signature attack and you couldn't have them relearn it.

I'm so glad that the 3ds release of Pokemon Crystal let's you catch Celebi after the main story. It's like Deoxys, no longer really considered a Mythical Pokemon, more or less a Legendary.
