They sold 204,000 globally last year. Unless I'm mistaken, another company was building the cars? They're a long way off yet.
@stefanospap62882 жыл бұрын
@@rogerstarkey5390 They are production throttled, hence the "low numbers" which aren't low if you take into account how young the company is. It's also an intentional strategic move by the management since they are aiming big for global expansion so their product ecosystem must be complete and leading class. Their new 2.0 platform is more refined for that so expect the boom coming relatively soon. Expansion to Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Denmark is coming by end of this year. Also 2024 is when they release their mass market brand so there's that too. 2025 will be the major year for the company since by then, they will be globally available. About their partnership with JAC for manufacturing, there are many misconceptions out there. I am not going to get into details but their joint venture is only beneficial to them and they have complete control of the production. Things are structured differently in China since its a manufacturing haven. Regardless, within the next few months NIO will soon have their very own manufacturing facility in addition to JAC's factory and its going to be at the NEO park, which is shaping up to be pretty much the biggest EV manufacturing and R&D center in the world. They are also currently prepping a swap station factory in Hungary for EU and they have plans for even more production expansion facilities etc. You shouldn't look at this company by their delivery numbers alone. They will capture more market share than the competition by selling less because they are the masters of building THE closed loop online/offline ecosystem of EV's, similar to Apple but grander :)
@rogerstarkey53902 жыл бұрын
@@stefanospap6288 They'll do "well" (IF the swap doesn't drag them down) But "2025"? Same targets as Ford, etc. But Tesla will have at least one more (car) factory by then, (total 5) as will BYD. To say NIO Will "be the leader" is.... I was going to say "optimistic" but "laughable" is frankly more appropriate.
@stefanospap62882 жыл бұрын
@@rogerstarkey5390 What do you mean by if the swap doesn't drag them down? Swap stations are more efficient than super chargers. They cost less, they are easier to deploy pretty much anywhere since they are compact and are mobile. You gotta do your research man :) So what if TESLA has more car factories? Once again, it's not a matter of how many cars get pumped when NIO will be generating free cash through their closed loop ecosystem. NIO will definitely be the leader of the new era of doing business in the auto sphere. TESLA is an irrelevant comparison since NIO will always have It's own prestigious niche to fill and it'll turn them into a behemoth. Look at Apple. With significantly less sales than their android competition (only like 10-20%), they control over 75% of the entire market share. Why is that you think? Because they know how to monetize their ecosystem. TESLA is purely an engineering focused company so they are taking a totally different route mainly to fulfill the utility side of things. You will be surprised to see that everyone will want to own a NIO sooner or later because they'll want to be part of the ecosystem.
@bryan39762 жыл бұрын
@@stefanospap6288 How are swap stations more efficient than super chargers? Sure, for a single car, you can go from nearly no charge to full much quicker with a swap, but that's not the entire story of efficiency. How do they cost less? You still need the charging infrastructure for the swapped out batteries. If they're going for efficiency, they likely need to be DCFC so the on hand inventory is minimized while also being charged and ready for the next car. How much do the tools to do the swap cost? How much land is needed? You need to have space to store/charge the extra batteries. How much footprint is needed for the swap itself compared to a charging stall? Does it require additional staffing or monitoring? How does the throughput of total cars per hour compare (how many swaps can be done in parallel compared to a 24 stall charge station)? How much complexity does a fast swapable battery add to the car's design? What engineering trade-offs are required? Then the biggest issue of all -- battery supply. Batteries are one of the biggest constraints in building EVs right now. How many battery packs will need to be diverted to swap stations versus being used to build a new car? How many will be at locations with lower turnover leaving battery inventory essentially sitting on a shelf? I just don't see efficiency at scale in the near term. It's an interesting concept, but I think we'll see improved battery technology improve (or solve) the time to charge problem well before swapping is a viable option.

I think Sandy should go visit china and see more evs in person. that way he would know better what the ev world has come to. Great Wall is decent, but not top totch by any stretch. it doesn't set the bar. by all means, es8 is a great car, but not a standout in today's market.

Already see one fail on the trunk. Why should I prop up my own hood as a luxury buyer? Since no trunk not a big deal but just an observation. I love the 360 camera.

IF they have the correct pack. Think it through.

@@rogerstarkey5390 ???? You can swap to any NIO battery package you want. A bigger battery costs more, just like a smaller costs less.

About those shaving blades, my brother inlaw would only use the old Gilette type of blades similar/ like that one Sandy demoed, other blades were not up to the task of cutting his stiff mustache/ beard hairs , I guess.
