I like using Genbu spirit when I'm using an axe. The spirit attack can stagger enemies even bosses which let you use rampage or other slow skills safely. After the enemy's ki is depleted, you can just spin and this feels much easier to use compare to other weapon skills like water swords or reaper. I think axe is definitely underrated by many players.

Just came back to the game after probably a year. Opened my inventory and was so confused about all of the gear and shit in my inventory for a second. Lol finally worked a hammer into my light armor, ki damage build just for variety sake and i was shocked! I felt tanky, menacing... beef baby. Hyper armor goes crazy lol

Yo I just found something out that's pretty wild while playing around in the dojo. I used spinning slide on the bombs and shuriken the ninja throws and it works on that too. Bro, game changer!

Hardest part about axe is trying to figure out which "Hold R2" skills to use. So many good ones and you can only pick 3 :(.

Purity, Ninigi’s Grace, and Rampage is pretty hilarious. I liked to use it when helping folks farm Gyuki Demon Scroll fights. Could completely delete it’s ki bar. Edit: It’s funny too coz I find Axe is great for Unarmored builds due to the hyper armor. Only problem, you should have a lot of ki since you take a lot of ki damage that can interrupt you due to getting winded. I also find Earth Carver to be a great Low Stance ki damage ability for enemies that like to dodge (looking at you Doman).

My build meanwhile >.>... 10 Constitution, 8 heard, 12 courage, 55 Stamina , 15 strength, 5 dex 5 skill 15 Magic. The freight train made of paper, but OH BOY do I delete stuff with the constant Ki destroy. It's neat. Never leave High Stance either (Kind of a challenge run to be honest)

Loading up on stamina so I can wear heavier armor and the axe damage is increased significantly. Didn’t plan on trying it out but it’s surprisingly strong

Also, have you ever messed around with turning off grapple on the axe so you can just continue to do charged R2s on downed enemies?

I've been looking through your guide vids and I'm just really confused by how little Ki you're using I've been using a heavy armor axe and hatchets, stamina/courage build, and I'm currently on way of the wise and haven't really touched the DLC yet. Does light armor just have ridiculous ki consumption bonuses or am I doing something wrong?

From looking at your build it still seems insane how little Ki you're using. About -15% to everything and a couple -5% active skill buffs It takes almost my entire stamina bar for two Axe high stance light attacks with rage, just enough left over for heaven and earth Obviously rage is hurting me but even without it your attacks seem to be costing way more than what 30% less?

Rampage seems fun, but I could never get rid of tri spark. Great damage and hyperarmor, that shit is my bread and butter.

Not exactly. I can't recall the specific attacks that favor Odachi in the same manner.

Very nice. I was waiting for this one. And I am waiting for the odachi guide as well :) I have some questions for the future videos, if I may ask: 1. Can you please provide an update to timely guard/parry covering some non-Okatsu moves that can be parried/timely guard against - such as lai quickdraw, night rain, or something similar? In fact, in this very video you 'timely guard' against lai, and I am yet to perform it myself. Are there weapon skills that cannot be parried or timely guarded at all? 2. If you know on top of your head, can you please tell us if it's actually possible to acquire all skills on a single character? Does the game + DLCs give us enough points for all of the skill trees? I think that attributes stop providing skill points past 30, but I could not find a definitive answer online if the enough points could be obtained using other methods to max it out. I'm referring to all skill trees, not just weapons. In your soul core fusion guide your character seems to have more than enough points for some trees, but I am not sure if this is the case for them all. 3. Speaking of soul cores, have you planned a video about soul core updates? You mentioned that we should stick to the cores we like (not only those with an inheritable) but I cannot remember you telling us why exactly. What can we do with a lvl 5 Gaki with OK stats down the road? Is there a lvl cap on upgrades? Do we have to farm soul cores if we wish to get that perfect one? 3a. If you revisit soul cores, can you please tell us a bit more about the ones you like using, and why you like them and how you use them? For example, ippon is an amazing, fast and aggressive core that can be fired at will - almost a no-brainer, but some other cores are a bit more niche, but still extremely good: for example ubume on an out of ki yokai can lead to a grab attack if used properly. I have managed namahage+ubume against Enenra a few times, and it was satisfying. This kind of quirky things, if you have some. As always, thank you, and keep up with awesome work!

The active skills that can be parried is not something easily gleaned. It's something that is wildly inconsistent. You can parry quickdraws from normal humans but not bosses. It's basically a case by case basis :( As for skill trees, you can get all weapons upgraded fully. You can at least get all magic/ninjutsu skills, idk about maxing every skill. With samurai, you'll have a huge surplus of points. With shiftling, dont think you can max out everything. I will revisit cores and other rpg elements.

Hyper armor basically means you can't be interrupted. those two core are amongst my favorites.

If youre still wondering I would say the one that makes you do extra damage if the attack empties your ki. The yokai realm one is A bit situational but this one is amazing with rage. It can really help one shot too.

Letting your sheathing animation play out causes your character to have a slightly different animation for most weapons where they kinda throw off the blood. Does that not happen for axes? I know it doesn't happen for spears

Axe and Spear have unfortunately been like this since Nioh 1. It'd be nice to see the spear get twirled around tossing the blood in every direction before its put away, or to see the axe slammed pommel first into the ground so hard the blood flies off like some beefcake barbarian with otherworldly strength is wielding it.

Ho wdo i get Hyper Armor its quite annoying when I get grabbed or interrut.

He mentions in the video that many of the abilities have hyper armour. This means not all and in some cases you need "A toughness" (toughness 200+), but there is absolutely no way to hyper armour grabs. You will still get grabbed, the only way to avoid grabs would be a dodge, burst counter or certain soul cores which prevent you from being grabbed while performing the animation. Hope this helps.
