After Nevermind, you rarely see a clip of Nirvana where they didn’t look like tired deer in the headlights. Just a crazy tidal wave of success and attention all at once, and it really freaked them out. Especially Kurt, of course.

This Interview was from November 19, 1991 when Nirvana played at Teatro Castello, Rome, Italy. But as for the footage it’s from the February 22, 1994 - Palaghiaccio, Rome, Italy show.

@@8bitakvids yeah well the Interview in the beginning was backstage from Nirvana's November 19, 1991 show in Rome, then the footage of Nirvana live that's from the February 22, 1994 show in Rome. At the end of the 02/22/94 show after "Heart-Shaped Box" Kurt walks behind his 4 Marshall 4x12 Cabs, and then all you see is Kurts Sonic Blue Mustang (Sky-Stang I) being thrown and it lands face down in the center of the stage, near Krist who him and Dave do a Jam that's mislabel as "What's My Sentence". That Sonic Blue Mustang with the White Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker was his Favorite Mustang of the 4, but the following day when. Nirvana played on the Italian TV show "The Tunnel" where they played "Serve The Servants" and "Dumb" you see Kurt is using his second Sonic Blue Mustang with the Black Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker known as (Sky-Stang II).

J Maier he couldn’t speak languages. He hardly went to school. He wasn’t the educated genius the press portrays. He was much more James dean / natural born killers than Byron Shelley Keats . He had a very obscure version of being anti systemic when all he wanted in the early broke days was to literally be the most successful rock god of the time. I worked for them. The first drummer was not driven enough so curt sacked him. He was very different in real life to how a bunch of 12-35 year olds see him today. .KURT WAS NOT NIRVANA. Depression can work a certain way for people like him. Someone isnt necessarily sad 24/7 or walking around crying all the time. Someone like him could have been in a great mood playing/ joking around all earlier that day and then gotten into a fight with his wife that night and his mood completely shift to hopeless thoughts. Im not saying thats what happened, but moods can shift that drastically literally from moment to moment with people who battle serious depression. Thats why its so shocking when someone who is usually so funny or seems to have so much life can make that decision because most people wont see it coming

Nirvana always gave great interviews. I think the sudden fame overwhelmed Kurt. he seemed to be a simple guy who loved to play music, but couldn't handle the fame. he said he wanted to be famous but I don't think he was prepared for it. he seemed happier before Nirvana got really successful. sad that he couldn't get help with his depression and drug addiction, but I don't think he wanted help anyway. he was very smart and talented but seemed to be in denial of his problems at the time

@@ashleyphillips5477 I don't think you know very much about Kurt or Courtney. Did you watch the interview with her foster parents? Did you hear what they said about what she wrote in her diary when she was 13 years old? She is a snake, she leached herself on to Kurt, and sent him spiraling downward while she did exactly what she said she was going to do in that diary. No one has done more research on the subject than me, I know all sorts of things about the case and both of these people. I can assure you Courtney was the end of Kurt in more ways than one. She is pure evil, connected to the Hollywood elite, and would do anything for fame. Find out the whole story before you make any guesses. I doubt you'll be able to listen to the interview with her own foster parents and still believe in what you have said.

@jeffsoriginalcomedy2 жыл бұрын
@@ashleyphillips5477 it's pretty frightening. I believe their interview is also included in the documentary Kurt and Courtney. Also in that same documentary there is another punk rock musician from fairly unknown band, he was a real dirtbag drug dealing scumbag type of guy. In his interview he openly admits that Courtney Love offered him $50,000 to kill Kurt and the only reason he didn't take it was because he didn't think she was serious and he was going on tour with his shitty band. The dude was a psychopath and would have clearly killed for money, but he just didn't take her seriously and didn't take the job. Well he's giving that interview you can hear a girl crying for help in the background quietly. Turns out he had kidnapped a couple girls and they were actually locked in his shed while he was doing that interview. After giving that public interview, he mysteriously died on the railroad tracks by his house that he had lived at for 20 years. Apparently he took heroin and fell asleep on the railroad tracks and got hit by the train. Sounds believable right? There's many good documentaries out there that include the interviews with Courtney's Foster parents. Once you hear what they have to say, there is no longer any doubt about what really happened and who was responsible. Did she do it herself? No. She was fucking everybody in the music industry and in hollywood, and the Hollywood goons were hired to take care of Kurt. Courtney was a very messed up girl especially at that time, and she was about to become one of the richest women in the world and completely take control of the Nirvana catalog which she held over the remaining members of the band. Hence all the lawsuits between her and Dave Grohl. People will do anything for money and fame. They might even write about their plans in a diary when they were 13.

Back then about 80% of nirvana fans me included went on to become heroin addicts. It wasn’t really Curtis fault but I can only speak for me, I worked on their first few tours and we were constantly hearing him saying how he was having amazing experience on smack. Almost everyone tried it and as it was free carried on. I’m guessing that a lot of fans didn’t have the money but also hoped to get famous by using and he would say Byron influenced him and other people who when anyone asked him about we soon discovered he knew hardly anything about the British romantic poets who first claimed opiates influced amazing visions which made them famous. Those romantics from the early 1800s were already rich and famous. Byron was a hereditary English lord. Mary Shelleys mum was one of the first successful feminist authors. They did all die young and all wasted their fortunes on drugs. Not how curt said it at all. Then there is teenage angst. Great when your 13-16 but it’s a bit odd for a 25-6 year old man, a father, to try to act like a 12 year old who got grounded. The whole scene was very over rated BUT It LEFT US SOME AWESOME TUNES, EVEN IF ALMOST HALF WERE COVERS.

Andrew Machado yeah they were rich but they weren’t materialistic.
@andrewmachado69884 жыл бұрын
BIGxBOSSxx1 How do you figure? As soon as the money started rolling in, the first thing Kurt Cobain did was buy a huge house in an upscale area of Seattle. It was for sale about a year ago and they were asking $7.5 million for it. It’s safe to say Kurt wasn’t living inside a log cabin. They can do as they please with their money, it’s no ones business, as they earned it through their hard work. my issue is the fact that they talked as if they were poor living off food stamps (which naive fans believed) meanwhile they were living in mansions and had substantial amounts of cash in the bank.

Really? He seems pretty high here and it also looks like Dave is trying to get the focus away from it. Kurt was heavily addicted at this point and Nirvana cancelled a show the night before. They actually cancelled a lot of shows on this one. Or any tour actually. They got a lot of hate from the fans in Europe because of it and they also lost a lot of European fans after their tours over here because many of the shows Kurt was so stoned they sounded horrible.

Good point. Also the focus on the Smells Like Teen Spirit video clearly indicates that interview was an early one, right when Nirvana exploded. I happened to see them 30 years ago on September 22, 1990 in Seattle at the International Motor Sports Garage with the Melvins and the Dwarves. I didn't even know who Nirvana was.. My how time flies.

@@samiam7342 Right. You really have to look at Kurt from the beginning and then follow his downward spiral that was towards the end of his life. It is very characteristic step-by-step of how a narcissist would wear you down by alienating you or rather love bombing you first, alienating you from any positive support, wearing you down, then destroy. You could tell that she was using other men to make him feel worthless or two knock him down a few pegs. Classic narcissist move going from supply to supply to de value whoever they are trying to hurt.

@@Maddox209 grunge is a relatively simple form of rock music. The solos are not long and the singer does not need to be the best. So here we go. Nirvanas Nevermind was an international breakthrough because the melodies were quite simple but catchy. Cobains voice catched a certain audience especially younger people. But that guy had massive drug problems and finally the media cared more about Cobain and his private problems and not the music.
