I'm trying to figure out who the 10 people are who didn't like this well made, well narrated video. This is one of the best and most easily understood video on doing this job that I could envision with real time tips for doing the job right and allowing one to get the parts ahead of time, such as hoses and which gaskets. My son's car has a mystery leak that I just can't seem to locate, but it appears high up, and given that this engine violates the God given dictum that ALL engines should be oriented North-South, the East-West alignment could only be caused by Satan, who dictates that all difficult repairs just HAVE to be on the firewall side where us oldsters have difficult leaning over the motor to access the rear (did an EGR cleaning and removing the 2 nuts and 2 bolts to get that little 6 inch metal tube off were best described as 2 bolts difficult, 1 nut a b*tch, and the last nut damn near impossible. Terrific video again, and this is my weekender project! Thank you for taking your time to post this.

Be warned, not for the inexperienced. Experienced will find this difficult. Hard part is 2 bolts near the firewall, 2 more with a small gasket. Small hoses under plenum difficult. Found mechanic on craigslist who specializes in maximas. I called he said, “DON’T CUT THE HOSES!” He was right. Not necessary and will make the job a lot harder. When plenum disconnected and free to move he was able to lift the plenum enough to expose the hoses and get the curved needled nose in. Good video to start.

You'll have to remove the valve cover to replace the spark plug tube seals. Mr. Gasket sells a gasket kit that includes the front & rear valve gaskets and the spark plug tube seals.

Hello. You have three 5/16" hoses and one 1/2" hose. I'm going from memory on this so double check the diameter when you remove the hoses.

Gracias Amigo............I just finished the job.......torking the cover bolts ...made me break one.......drilled and tapped the hole to a 5/16......went ot home depot and got me a bolt to fix it..........(chepo tork wrech.....Harbor freight..)....but were back running.....thanks........

Harbor Freight torque wrenches are the WORST!!! I've messed up a caliper bolt and a couple of others. I learned, you get what you pay for.

great video. i just finished this and waiting till tomorrow to take a last look. fingers crossed no leaks. It took me a while but didnt have to cut any hoses. Actually it was harder to get the clamp and hose back on during reinstallation. One of the back bracket bolts had a lot of problems lining up too on reinstall (dont tighten anything i.e. egr before getting all the bolts on the manifold started). lastly on my 97 maxima there was one additional short vaccuum line that needed to be removed but wasnt inthe video, unless im missing something. this video is worth every second of advertising endured, though. thanks!

Just go to your local auto part store and they'll cut a new hose to length. Double check the diameter of the hose, but if memory serves, it's 5/8"

Oh man this was many years ago. You can just remove and take along to your local auto part store. They'll cut one for size.

Florcosta Your Maxima has a 3.5 liter motor but this video may give you a good idea on what to expect. I'd replace any rubber hosing and gaskets you come across.

HI CarsNToys. I just replaced the PCV valve and grommet fell in the hole! I noticed you did not remove the pcv valve? I've read on forums that there is a "baffle" to stop debris? Do you recall if there is? I couldn't tell in the video. If not, this will be a weekend job just to get the grommet out.

***** No need to drain the coolant. Just place a piece of cloth under the coolant tube when you remove the hose and you'll be fine.

Hah I did the SAME thing. I still need to get the old bolt out so I can replace it. I snapped it trying to use a 1/2inch torque wrench. It obviously isn't made for in/lb

Is there a trick to reattaching that coolant hose in the back that you cut? Using your video I've got this all apart on an Infinity I30 and will put it back together tomorrow. But I can tell already that reattaching that hose will be a bi#ch.

It's actually not too bad. I think it's harder to remove vs reattaching. You can leave the plenum a little loose (not bolted down 100%) so you wiggle it a bit and get the coolant hose back on.

It's very similar. The manifold is a little bit different but you should be able to swap out the gasket with little trouble. Cheers.
