@ProfessionalPepper8 жыл бұрын
The truck model is the same. d40=Nissan Frontier. They are both the Second Generation Nissan Small Truck series. The engine type is what you should be concerned about. Do you have the 2.5L Gasoline Engine QR25DE, the 2.5L Diesel Engine YD25DD, or the 4.0L Gasoline Engine VQ40DE? My engine uses the 4.0L Gasoline Engine VQ40DE model.
@noprofileful6 жыл бұрын
Mine started after the dealer changed the oil. I had purchased 4 oil changes for $99 from them (great deal right?), and originally thought that they didn't tighten the oil filter enough. Because for that price they can't afford spend a lot of time on my truck. But when I wiped around the oil cooler I couldn't see anything and it seemed tight enough. So I had to take off the skid plate (1/8" of oily dirt on top) and keep the truck running and then I could see the slow drip forming from the back side of the oil cooler. Every video that I've watched makes it seem so hard to break-loose the 22mm oil cooler bolt. Mine was literally just slightly more than hand-tight. So I'm thinking that the dealer service tech. loosened the bolt as a way of trying to get more service work from me. Of course I have no proof other than the leak started within a week of the oil change. But this dealer just changed hands and every time I've gone in since then my slimeball senses start tingling.

Can i do this with a 22 mm short socket or do I need a deep dish 22 mm socket????
@ProfessionalPepper6 жыл бұрын
The deep socket is necessary, as it provides space for the threaded shaft to go on the inside of the socket. It also allows for you to have enough clearance for the socket wrench handle to not hit the vehicle's frame while turning it. You can buy a single sized socket peice online or at the auto parts store.

Hello, I have a 2009 Suzuki Equator and it appears to be leaking oil in the same area as in your video, where the oil cooler attaches to the engine block. The oil filter and deflection shield are the same as the Frontier, and since the Suzuki and Frontier have the same chassis, do you think I could apply the same logic to replace the "O" ring?
@ProfessionalPepper7 жыл бұрын
Dave Lee yes all power train and engine components are the same. I have a link to the exact gasket in the video description. Let me know how it turns out.
@davelee60237 жыл бұрын
Thanks I will.
@davelee60237 жыл бұрын
Good Morning, I replaced the "O" ring on the oil cooler yesterday and it went relatively smooth, thanks again for your video and quick reply to my question. I picked up a torque ratchet for $20 and I'm very happy I did, because old oil filter was so tight, that when I got it loose, it also loosened the bolt holding the oil cooler on. I had some work done a few months ago and they changed the oil and must have competed to see who could get it on the tightest (lol)!! At least now I know that bolt is on to foot pound specs and the oil filter is snug, not gorilla tight. Anyway, thanks again.

I have the 6 speed transmission. The Haynes manual says there is no oil cooler on this. Can anyone confirm? Is there a similar gasket that could need replacing anyway? Also is it a 22mm or 20mm? I think you say 22 at the beginning but 20 at the end! Thanks all

Do these type of oil cooler good or the went bad and mixing coolant with engine oil? I dont know ive seen in my pathfinder r51 2007 4wd which is New to me bought it about a year ago that guy deleted heater cause that brittlr plastic gone bad on passenger side and i bought it from junkyard the whole assembley of heater pipe including pump And Just noticed that he deleted and removed water pipe for oil cooler and he blocked the thread after engine oil cooler filter and plugged passage way near radiator hose omg and he dont remember about this but will these engine oil cooler go bad?
@ProfessionalPepper5 жыл бұрын
There is an issue with the frontier, where the transmission oil is cooled in the radiator and it commonly breaks, mixing coolant with transmission fluid. I have not heard of your issue, but you can research your problem at clubfrontier.org and find and answer.
@Sroor900105 жыл бұрын
@@ProfessionalPepper ok friend i know that issue and ive already bypassed radiotor and now iam fine but cause when i bought the car heater was cancelled and Just returned back today and oil cooler was cancelled so i think there is an issue with it so my plan is to add oil cooler Sandwich 😁 once i find small radiator so i can add it instead of engine oil cooler 😉 that i dont know the history of it and air cooled better than water cooled and once it failed you cant start the car have to flush so be safe than Sorry 👍
