To explain what Clarkson is talking about, the AWD system in the Skyline GT-R is actually RWD under normal conditions. When it detects slip, it will push up to 50% torque to the front wheels. This means adding grip for corners and improving acceleration on launches. This is the same system (plus improvements) as the one in the R32 GT-R from 1989.
@christopherhernandez783 жыл бұрын
@@Iukini no shit! I already knew what it was.. but never seen it irl. R32 is set up to handle FR setup but more mechanical than digital like R34.

@@christopherhernandez78 yeah you can read up on the differences between the E-TS and E-TS Pro on Wikipedia, but the basis of the Pro version is the original one from 1989. @Jaredscott893 жыл бұрын
@@christopherhernandez78 Well your comment certainly suggested you don't have a clue. The only difference between the R32 version and this version is the RWS moved to electronic vs hydraulic and the transfer case locking speed was increased. There is no mechanical vs digital feel.

Sti and evo were actually faster than r34

I still firmly believe Subaru WRX and the dead Lancer Evo are the kings of AWD

@@Eternal_Templar hard not to like the RB, but as an Evo and having an STI before owner, I have to agree. Such impressive lil machines

in fact they were the ones that blew the skyline out of the water. Yeah it was fast and yeah it was good but it was a boat compared to the wrx and the evo of its time
@Modi_3 жыл бұрын
the thing is, an r34 will comfortably cruise at 240kmh on the autobahn without a limiter, but a evo/wrx sti feel like go karts past 160kmh.

kinda bizarre video editing and lazy script, nuclear bomb footage was from Nevada testing range in the USA not Hiroshima or Nagasaki also Japanese companies didn't really start mass producing car until after WWII (ironically the Nissan Skylines roots go back to Nakajima Aircraft Company who built planes for the Imperial Japanese Army, as they was banned from any military production after the war by US occupiers they divested into passenger cars..)so dont know how the "Japanese car industry was on its knees" when it didn't exist. The point still stands of Japan's fairytale economic growth that remains today as something to admire and the Skyline GT-R was a groundbreaking car but the 'dumbed' down script to this segment lets it down.
