There's a markings on the cylinder part for the maximum resurfacing.it should not reach that parts or otherwise your compression ratio will suffer causing misfire

How to get white smoke out

I depends on the situation of white smoke is,if only when cold start it appears and after a few minutes it's gone, valve seals or injectors o-rings, but when it's all the time, maybe your turbo charger, but when engine is running with check engine lights on and knocking sounds, possible it's from your injection pump
