Great show Tom. This is just the video I've been waiting for. We'll be using this technique from now on combined with the micron gauge when testing and setting up our systems.

There is more to it than just what I showed in this video This was just a quick synopsis of one method . But it is important to remember to let it rest for 10 or 15 minutes . Before you start your pressure, Decay test. To allow the gas that you added to stabilize and become the same temperature as the vehicle that your injecting the gas into . If the gas gets hotter, you might see the pressure go up. If the gas gets colder you may see the pressure go down and think there is a leak. . And sometimes when you first put the gas in you have a higher pressure when the hoses stretch a little bit and the pressure drops . This is why waiting 10 or 15 minutes before you isolate and start testing . Unless the leak is really big and obvious Glad to be of help We all must do better to be better technicians give her trade a better reputation, an offer our customers better service . 👍 Don’t be like the cheap guy down the street

@@Personalized_Workshop thank you. Nitrogen pressure testing decay test just another tool in your arsenal to help you find leaks And also speed you up on moisture removal when doing wax and nitrogen, purge flush . You’re gonna have to watch a few videos on that to very simple

Thanks to all these recommended videos I randomly decided to check my cars ac compressor, And its leaking. Judging by the amount of uv dye its been leaking for a few weeks at most. Caught it in time.

Save you a lot of time and money. Because when it’s too late in the compressor burns up when you have metal, flake turmoil, that’s a lot of flushing and replacing all components..

@@coldfinger459sub0 That would be a shame. I replace the condenser and drier only 5 years ago. its as good as new.

Tom, where do you buy your ac fittings for automotive vehicles ? I’m will be purchasing several pieces fieldpiece equipment soon, I have the required list recommended by Tom . I’m retired but I love learning and your the best I’ve heard and seen. Thank You so much Tom. Wished you would start Zoom educational channel. Have a great day!

@@davidjackson4112 for the service couplings 1234YF and R134 I get those online Amazon recently yellow jacket no longer makes quality parts anymore. The last service I got from them were from Taiwan and they failed within 3 to 4 months just like cheap harbor freight or eBay service couplings Yellow jacket, the last three or four years now it’s only months, but they still want the same price. They took the production away from the United States and shifted it over to Asia. But if you want the valve core removal tools . That you’ve seen me using videos those all come from True Tech Tools just like all the Fieldpiece equipment. Of course, with the 8% discount code LECHAIR

Hey tom. I work on a bunch of old r12 systems in 80s Toyotas, mainly pickups and 4runners. They utilize serpentine condensers and evaporators, recently drop in replacement parallel flow condensers have been made available for them and i have been recommending everyone upgrades to them due to the increase in cooling performance. Recently I learned that the 88-92 corollas use a plate and fin evaporator core that is a relatively easy swap into the truck/4runner evap box. Is there a noticeable performance upgrade for upgrading from a serpentine evaporator to a plate and fin evaporator?

Yes if it is the same size. H/W/L It’s all about the surface area. Inside the the flat refrigerant tubes of the micro channel condenser and evaporator there are more tiny thin fins attached on the inside greatly increased the surface area in contact with the refrigerant. The tiny internal fins carry the heat out of the refrigerant or into the refrigerant faster with greater efficiency. But you will need to custom modified the refrigerant charge. It will now be reduced. Because of how efficient and how small the new internal volume is. This is why you see such small amount of refrigerant used today compared to old R12 systems.

Hey Tom, what do you think about a Prius condenser with damaged fins and little rocks in the bottom half of it. I went to try and clean it and realized the condition of the condenser wasn't that great. The whole lower half of it, where the bottom grill of the car is, is like that. In the summers I have to set my AC to Low and 3 bar fan speed and wait 2 minutes and then max it out when its cold. Othewise it will only get cool. Is this common on vehicles low to the ground? How fast does this happen over time? Wondering if I would have to replace the condenser every 5 years or something because of this damage. It is possible that this isn't why I have to do that trick. I had it recharged by Toyota about 2-3 years ago. Wonder how much it would cost to replace if it was it.

This is very common with cars, even my own privacy that are open on the bottom, low to the ground. I think I made a video even on my own personal vehicle. Old condenser was really beat up. All the things were bent over by stones.. You have to get some fine mesh wire like eighth of an inch square mash . And then fold it with two or 3 inch layering like a accordion . And then place it behind the bumper inside in front of the condenser so all the little stones hit that first and bounce off instead of hitting your condenser I plan on making a video about that when I do my own That last video I did with my car when it was an accident I showed my car all taken apart in the body shop and I even spray painted coded with epoxy the whole entire Condenser, so it was blue .
